We get to install and test the new 36cc Double Ring Motor from Rovan Sports/Rofun Racing into a King Motor Baja 5B. Lots of trial and error, but we managed to get a feel for the motor. #baja5b #rovansports #ezr
First of all..2 ring piston dosnt necessarily give u more compression..it however gives the engine longer compression life..and has it occurred to anyone that during all his testing he actually broke the engine in to where the piston rings are seated against the cylinder wall and that's why it's running properly? My 36cc did same thing after I got a few tanks of fuel in it..she came alive
umm ... no. It is not possible that an engine can just "break in" in a sudden split second. Rovans 36cc motors have nearly a 2mm squish, its a design flaw, there are many videos and forum talk about the matter. ... not only can you remove the gasket, you can also shave the case to close the squish even more. If anyone has a 36cc Rovan motor and does not remove the gasket at a bare minimum ... your engine will never make good power ... "Like it should"
Два кольца на поршне создают дополнительное трение от этого снижается частота вращения коленвала. Это значет что к вашей модели теперь можно прицепить прицеп но поедет она медленней чем с одним поршневые кольцом.
Good day. I have done it yes. I didn't see a noticeable change in power, but wondering what the difference in ring/sleeve wear will be over say 10tanks of fuel. I didnt get a chance to run that engine enough to make a assessment. I only ran one tank through it then sold it last year.
Yes. Motor wont be horrible. Here is my easy, cheap recommendation. Dont use the 1191 Carb from Rovan. Use the Walbro 668/997. Then take off the head and remove the gasket. Also take some 500 sand paper and go over all the sharp edges of the ports. In, out and transfer. All the places where the piston can get scratched, but DO NOT scratch the sleeve itself. put togethe and you should have a good strong reliable motor.
so whats your 2cents on the carb that it came with ? can it be used after dropping the head ? glad i found your channel i am about to get the 36cc myself
So here's the deal with the 1191 carb from Rovan... DON'T Get It! From the 10x we have received only 4x worked properly. Best performance carb we've received is the 813/998 carb from Rovan or the reliable 668 Japan. All our motors will come with the 668 from now on.
Hey Mr Ez Trade Racer ... got a ? for you ... do you happen to know if Rovans 32cc motor is the same as the Zenoah G320 ? As in its a clone? And parts can be swapped from each other? Reason I ask is ... I have a OBR 32 V2 Reed Case (bare bottom end) and want to know if the Rovan 32cc crank, piston, and top end will bolt on / in?
Good Day Charlie. Thank you for the question. Yes they are the same. We use their parts interchangeably. There are snag points here and there like sometimes the cylinder struggles to fit the case perfect but a quick trip with the Dremel sorts it, without performance loss.
@@EZR WoW! I cant believe im actually talking to the man himself! LoL! And just as I expected, there isnt much that you dont know! Cheers for the detailed reply, also ... when can we be expecting more great content? Its been a LONG time since ive had your name pop up ... i need my Ezeetrade fix! HaHa!
@@charliebrown238 Thanks man. We are working on a awesome lineup. Been through some tough times with our store since lockdown, but we are over the worst. Our next video is going to be a Big Thank you for us hitting 2000 Subs. We looking forward to shooting it.
@@EZR Yah I was just looking at how close you guys are to 2k subs! Congratz! and Hey! I just seen you guys have a website! Awesome! Do you guys offer international shipping? Australia here :) Might have to order a few things to do my part to help out, coz I refuse to see Ezeetrade not be around for us all! Cheers again mate!
@@charliebrown238 thanks for the support man. As long as we have you here on YT it means a lot to us. Just keep liking and sharing and the content will grow.
So you are saying to remove .7mm from the bottom of the cylinder head? So that's .027 ? Just got this motor and want to button it up before I install it on a project
Yes that is it. BUT we believe it was also the Carb. The 1107 we've been getting from US & China had a bad batch. The 668/997 we stuck on here did make a visible difference. But for the most part this engine has way too much space ontop of the piston out the box.
I heard that roven was using a double gasket on the head did that to mine an left the stock carb on it now the thing kills xmaxx like nothing an I have the trophy truck that is a bit heavier
I've just changed my dominater style exhaust for a twin exhaust system and its hard to get started now do you have any suggestions cheers bob with the old exhaust it started on 2nd or 3rd pull
Haven't really come across this problem. Was anything else dismantled or taken off other than the exhaust? All that I can think is that the Dominator gives more back pressure and could help get a motor with a worn ring going easier. My first check would be ring wear. Easy cheap job. The problem is not the exhaust.
@@EZR hi thanks for getting back to me so quickly no I replaced the exhaust and changed the rear bumper for a larger bumper to help protect the exhaust and now its difficult to get the car started I haven't changed anything
Good Day. Yes it is. The 45 has more torque but no RPMs. The 45 has vibrating issues and cant run for long before it over heats. In my recent experience the single ring 36 has been outperforming the double ring 36.
Yes, G320 is the best choice. Better balanced motor and cheaper maintenance parts.... Also depending on your supplier. But in our experience the G320 is the best out the box play motor that is reliable and has plenty of Power for your 💲
Almost any Rovan motor can be dropped. Not the best of manufacturing, but with some help I have created some powerful motors. My favorite at the moment is sticking a 32cc Head and Piston on a 36cc Bottom. Massive Power.
@@EZR yea i understand its a cheap ass motor.. but my 36cc baja ripps.. and there cheap as hell.. is there anything i should look for when trying to remove the gasket..i think im going to buy a spare motor and just mess with it
Sir is this mod as easy as you say it is?I have a couple of motors a 36cc double ring,a 2 bolt main ? Rovan is all i know and it's has a stroker crank or something like that.I bought it second hand.
36cc has a compression problem. Without the right tools you will struggle to get the right squish. We machine the deck to fix it. We have to do this on all Rovan motors. We are trying to get them to fix it at the factory.
Good day. Yes the 36 out the box has a 1mm+ squish. Very poor compression. Removing the gasket will help and make it playable but to unlock its wheel popping potential you must Deck the cylinder.
A van Zyl we have 2x ways of doing it. One is with solder wire which gets stuck down the plug hole and then turning the motor over and then other is an actual squish measuring tool that we get from Daves
Good Day.... Sadly no. Our store has now got a machining factory that cuts 0.7mm off the deck(bottom) of the head to increase the squish. Big difference. Rovan 360 - FIXED
@@EZR I have removed the head gasket off of my 36cc single ring, what a difference! great results! I'm going to have the deck milled .7 mm. do you use stock Rovan gaskets after? or ? Thanks so much for this Video! it's been a lot of HELP!
I agree. But that is why they are dirt cheap. Most dudes will rather buy whats affordable and do the labour to get it smooth. But for those who can afford a Zenoah it's worth it.
That 23cc ran better than the 36cc, people get get caught up in how big the motor is., All the 23 knee is a porta head and a good carb. Could out run that 36cc all day
We have actually been experimenting with the smaller motors a lot and have found the same. Bigger motors have more torque for the first 10m, but after that the smaller ones out run them.
Howzit. So sorry for our distance from RU-vid. We had to move shop and provinces these last few months. We will be getting back into it as soon as possible.
True - It is a bit spit and stick, but out here in South Africa the RC Import prices are absolutely crazy and Rovan is what most can afford. We try to make them as reliable as possible for our Customers
