Thank you so much CC MOGS for sending this fantastic lock over to me, I really appreciate it. Abus Plus 20/80 (older Model) • Abus 20/80 Discus lock...
Hi Bill, the Abus 88/40 are fantastic locks, they have 9 disc’s & are a little more tricky to pick then these, as they only have 6 disc’s. The Abus plus disc generally have 2 false gates & 1 true gate. Also unlike this lock the 88/40 can be tensioned both top & bottom. 👍
Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant! Great picking again Daz with a very tricky (and that's an understatement) lock. Loved the tutorial as you picked your way through the lock. 😁👍🏻
Thank you Roy.These Abus plus Discus locks are great little padlocks & pretty tricky to open up especially seeing they only have 6 disc’s. Have a fantastic weekend mate.
Thanks mate, yeah the Abus is a fantastic little lock & pretty tricky for a 6 disc core. The 3D pick is also a fun tool to use. Have a fantastic weekend. 👍
These are really cool padlocks, I’ve picked a few of them now & they are all pretty tricky to pick. I’ve found that tensioning from the last disc is the easiest way. 😎👍
Wonderful job, mate! You made that look easy & I know very well that it is not!😉 Nice Abus Discus disk detainer lock & so very kind of CC Mogs to lend it to you!😊 Excellent open with your 3D printed Silver Bullet! Hope you & yours have a wonderful weekend, Daz! Cheers!☺️🍻🔓⛏💁🏼♀️
Thank you so much my friend, it really was so kind of “CC MOGS“ to lend me the lock, they are so expensive to buy. Get little & pretty tricky to open considering they only have 6 disc’s in. Have a fantastic weekend.
Nicely picked daz. I have a new 20/80 and my SB doesn’t fit front tension had to power file it down to fit and the same for many other DD locks. But now filed down it fits them all. Have nice day mate👍
Jon’s Lock Picking Hi Jon. This one the picking tip was very slightly to big. I only just managed to get the job done. These Abus discus locks are fantastic little locks & a loads fun to pick open. It will be great to see you back on YT mate. 🤞
Cool to see a plus core in a discus lock. Who would have thought a 3D printed pick would work so well on that.... plus all your top picking skills too mate. :) I must learn the wiggle test.😝🍺✌
Hi Don Yeah it’s a fantastic little lock & pretty tricky considering it’s only a 6 disc lock. But Abus are really well made locks, the 3D printed SB is pretty good for what it is, they take a bit of getting used to, but definitely get the job done. 👍
Good idea to help the lock open like that. Such nice picks are too delicate for very heavy springs and I didn't see anybody save their tools like that. 👍
Thanks my friend, they are ok for most locks but these Abus discus locks have a really heavy shackle. & the 3D printed SB is still $100 😩 Have a great weekend mate.
Just placed an order for one of these on Amazon for my storage unit, which has been sitting unlocked for 2 days now, 30 miles away. X( Should be here on Sunday the 14th. Thankfully, it's located in a quiet, sparsely-populated farming community, and has a keypad gate entry system, so it's likely okay for now....but I do worry. I wanted a lock that was not made in China.....unfortunately, there's not much out there, but I'm glad I ponied up and paid for German quality. Costed me $49. They were selling disc locks through a machine at this facility for $12 a piece, but for whatever reason it wouldn't complete the transaction after twice inserting my entire life history in the damn thing and standing in a 29-degree wind-chill for 20 minutes. Thanks for the video! It's a cool lock.
Hi are all ABUS locks uneasy to pick? Or which locks are uneasy to pick? I had my storage unit broken into and really want a lock that is secure and not easy to break. I'm thinking of purchasing this one and ABUS 37/60mm Granit plus padlock. Is this one safe or easy to pick?
I had one of these locks on my storage unit and it still got burglarized in October of last year. I don't know how they did it because I still had to unlock the lock to open my unit. It looked like a bomb went off inside and over $9,000. of my property was stolen. I'm still sick over it. I didn't know you can relock a lock that has been picked.
Thanks Giles, that’s exactly what it is, it works well but has its drawbacks with it being printed, & a fraction of the cost 😁 You too have a great weekend. 😎👍
Thanks mate, & thank you so much for lending to me I really appreciate it, it a cracking little lock, pretty tricky to open considering it’s a 6 disc lock. It’s all parcel up now ready to post first thing Monday (with a little thank you gift) 😊 Have a fantastic weekend mate.
Hi Mate. The 3D printed SB is great one it’s Assembled correctly, I know it takes a bit of time, but it’s worth it. The 20/70 is also a fantastic padlock & with it only having 6 disc’s not to much trouble to pick. It will be great to see you pick uses with the SB, I’ve not seen any one else use one yet. Have a great weekend mate
Just picked up one of these for a U-Haul I have to leave overnight. Glad at least that portion of it will be secure! Now to keep them from stealing the whole U-Haul...
Hi my friend. I always start with top tensioning, & is there’s no feedback from the discs, I will switch tools for bottom tensioning. Sometimes the feedback is subtle so on the higher end locks it may take a few attempts to work out. But in short you are just looking for feedback from the disc’s. Have a great week my friend. 😎👍
Fantastic picking Daz! It didn't look like the lock gave much feedback but you were pretty much flawless in reading it, great job! I've become pretty good at picking the cheap Chinese DD's, what would you recommend to try next? My tools are the cheap Chinese pick and the Sparrows one btw, and I have an Abus Granit, Onguard and Abloy but I've loaned those out at the moment. Anything you'd recommend that's easily available in Europe?
Thank you mate. The feedback I’ve found in all the Abus disc locks is a lot more subtle than a lot of other makes, this is why I tend to go back through the disc’s to make sure they are in the true gate. As far as other disc locks go, I think the kryptonite D locks are great to pick, they are also relatively cheap to buy. 👍
Thanks Keymaster, This is a fantastic little lock, I guess you see a lot of them around. They are really tricky to pick considering it only has 6 disc’s , Have a great week.
Came here after watching an old (5+ yrs) LPL video talking about this lock & how he couldn't pick it. Was half expecting a fake/fluff video. That's pretty awesome skill to know how to orient & manipulate the lock. Can I ask how long it took to figure out or was this the first attempt?
Thanks my friend, this one wasn’t to bad to be honest. I probably had a couple of attempts. The earlier Version was much more difficult to work out as the core was kinda floating, heres a link. Ive also picked the 80mm Version that wasn’t to hard to work out either, but it does help having the right tool for the job. Thanks for watching & commenting I really appreciate it, have a great week. 😎👍
@@dazevers that's even more impressive. I've seen LPL picking the Abus plus cores many times but never in a disc lock. It seems like the mechanism itself adds difficulty. I haven't gotten into DD locks yet (still working on mastering Paclocks lol) but am excited for the challenge! Thanks for replying!
Abus is one of Best. But I am curious could it stand up to some Old school tricks! Because they have made a multi-rail tumblr which requires a larger key. That is the weak point the large key hole. First I would try a small can with high pressure "Lox" And see how well the tumblr could take 200 to 300 degrees below -0 then a few taps. But I'm not trying to save the lock just get to what's on the other side. Know if that didn't open it I'd have to tip my hat to them. Next I would try a very small tube of gelatin. I would squeeze it into the key opening fulling the inside with the gelatin then placing a small fuse an lighting it an stepping way. " Again I'm not to save the lock just get passed." A few seconds of a few thousand Btu, and everything inside that should be gone and open. If that didn't open it I'm going home back to my rocking chair.
They both sound like they would do the trick my friend & would be very interesting to watch, ive not done any destructive entries yet but they are on the cards. Have a great week. 😎👍
This one I couldn’t front tension. It has a 6 cut first disc, and that pushes the sidebar up to far so you loose all feedback. If disc 1 had been a 1 or 2 cut I think it would have been possible. It’s handy to have a tool that can do both if your getting into DD locks. They are fantastic locks to pick. 👍
@@dazevers Oh that makes sense, so the cut number on the first disc will mainly determine if it's possible to front tension the lock or not. Very, very interesting and more than all, crytal clear explanation !! thanks a lot. i hope your channel grows, you're doing a good job ! thanks again a lot for your explanations !
Narmada Skin Clinic You are so right my friend, they are fantastic locks & very tricky to pick. Thank you for watching & commenting. Have a great day. 😎👍
Demetrius Boyle In the older Abus 20/80 picked a month or so ago, the core was kinda two sizes to small for the housing & had so much top to bottom movement( like it was just floating) made it really difficult to tension the last disc, the whole core was constantly moving up & down. Nightmare. 👍
