One thing to bring to your attention , after hearing say in a nutshell that the "brightest smile hide the biggest sadness" .... Luffy is actually impossibly pure and honest . When he smiles he genuinely feels happy , he's not the sort to hide behind a fake smile or to do it to psych himself up and others . About powers now , not gonna spoils thing further , but not everyone in the crew got actual powers like obviously Luffy .. let's just say that some honed their skills to a level where it looks like one .
Oh, no no, I didn't mean that he hides behind the smile, it's just one of the contrast character-crafting techniques. It actually makes the character (usually) more likable to the audience since they see the character smiling/laughing genuinely even though they get smacked by the universe all the time. It's similar to 'The kindest people tend to be the loneliest'. The character can be genuinely kind but still lonely in the end. It's kinda hard to put it into words for me but that's basically what I meant 😅
"Fan induced pressure" Just so you know, the fans don't pressure Oda at all. The man has an 18 hour work day and takes off on sundays. HE SET HIS OWN SCHEDULE.
It's bigger and better than you can imagine. There are over 1,000 named characters with backstories! This story actually gets better on each re-read cuz of all the stuff you miss leading to a cohesive story you never see coming. Nobody can say what One Piece is about, all you can say is it's always fun even when serious. And it gets more serious, touching on tough real-world problems, than any other anime while always staying silly.
It's true, the author can do all the crazy and strange traits of the characters and people will love it, what really made me love this anime was its mystery that the openings don't show and it hasn't been revealed yet and the sad stories of the characters
For the power system, you can essentially cut it into these segments: inhuman training, devil fruits, Haki, cybernetics, and gadgets training. Haki and devil fruits are split into three main categories each.
long comment ahead, sorry. disclaimer : although i don't discuss any specific event in one piece, there are broad informations about the world that aren't explained until a while, so technically that might count as spoilers. so if you wanna know a bit about the power system in one piece, i'll explain the basics quickly. So, there are two types of powers : first there are objects called devil fruits which are unique fruits of all shapes and sizes, we don't know where they come from. They have a name, and there can be only one of each at the same time. When you eat one ( you can only eat one in your whole life btw, otherwise you die), you are granted a superpower, and it can be pretty much anything, no limits ( the fruits are grouped in 3 families depending on what they do, it gets pretty complicated). However this power comes at a price : the fruits are called "devil fruits" because they are somewhat cursed : should you eat one, you permanently lose the ability to swim in the ocean, as direct contact with sea water will drain all of your energy instantly. There's also a type of ocean granite that does this and also temporarily cancels your power. The second form of power is called "haki" and its a mystical aura that every living being has, but only a few can awaken its potential and actually use it. Haki can be focused on different things, for exemple, an ability called observation haki is very similar to the spider-sense in spiderman, if you're familiar with it. Basically its a sixth sense that sees just a little bit into the future which allows for superhuman reflexes. Then there's armament haki which is an invisible armor of energy that you can surround yourself with that makes you more resistant and hard-hitting. It should be noted that an haki-infused attack can cause damage to pretty much anyone unless they are themselves protected with haki ( haki attacks can therefore be used to counter a devil fuit power that would make its user normally make it very hard to hit ). There is a special, very rare type of haki that very few people can use that is called royal haki, and we don't know exactly what it is, but it seems to function like an invisible wave of energy, that causes people touched by it to be struck by terror, or even to faint. If you wanna learn more about devil fruits, we can detail the different types of devil fruits. The simplest kind to define is the Logia category. A Logia fruit will give its user the ability to control and produce an element ( like flames, ice, sand, etc) the user can also partially or completely transform into that element ( for exemple hhvaing your whole body made of flames) which can make them practically untouchable for someone who doesn't master haki. The second category is the Zoan fruits. the Zoan fruits generally allow the user to shapeshift into 3 forms : their regular form, the form of an animal, or a form that is half-them, falf animal. however this gets more complicated, as there are different fruits for subcategories of the same animal. There are also some fruits that are reffered to as Mythical Zoan which function like regular Zoan, but allow the user to transform into mythical creatures or even deities. The third category is the hardest to define as there are wildly different types of power in that same category. Its called Paramecia fruits, and its a bit of everything. paramecia generally allows to transform into something OR produce something OR control/manipulate something... its not clear. On top of that, we know that devil fruits can "awaken", and that this event causes their abilities to broaden. We know very little about this process, apart from a few exemples in the show where characters use an "awakened" fruit. Some types of awakenings seem to extend whatever power they have to the environment around them, but there's more to it, we just don't really know. EDIT : by the way, if you don't know it already, i encourage you to look up HunterxHunter's power system, its my favourite in manga and is masterfully crafted. Its pretty complex though, but super interesting.

Kudos for mentioning Hunter x Hunter's system, it's my favorite anime power system (Nen,) but it's harder to develop a story around. Even Hunter x Hunter spent a whole arc explaining Nen's basics and another arc on the advanced usages of Nen before really going deep with it in the longest arc of the series.
The FIrst one in this video, Someday. Is one of my favorite openings, its about a younger brother chasing after his older brother thinking "Some day I will get stronger."
One piece had it's unique art style on purpose where Oda can mesh things that are ridiculous looking with things that are incredibly serious and kind of delve between the two seemlessly. It makes where it doesn't take you out of immersion just because something looks incredibly weird (for non OP readers/watchers) He actually is very well versed in drawing realism and hyper detailed things. Either way though, if you part take on the anime or manga, both have their ups and downs, but i hope you enjoy the journey regardless, dont think about catching up but enjoying the incredible story for what it is.
One piece is the master of world building You can give you happiness but one piece can give you total sadness .. One piece is focus in dreams everyone can have dreams and motivation goal but most people are questioning your dreams and motivation and goals it's at too you if you manage to achieve that dreams or give up to it .but in one piece "DREAMS NEVER ENDS"

I've seen plenty of explanations concerning the power systems at play, so I'll add my two cents to it. Paramythia fruits are the most common type of fruit, while Logias are the rarest with only about 14 known Logia Fruits out there. Logia users are also susceptible to certain natural weaknesses, like in Pokemon. For example someone who could become snow and ice might not do well against someone with a flamethrower or fire powers, or water making a Sand Man unable to dematerialize. Zoans are mostly enhanced in close to mid range combat, give or take other cool abilities depending on the animal the fruit is based on, like a fruit turning someone into a bird granting the ability to fly. The subcategories of Zoan include carnivorous, which consists of meat eating animals, granting sharp claws, sharp teeth, more violence and aggression to the eater's personality, and a generally bigger hybrid form than the average Zoan allows. Ancient Zoans consist of long extinct animals, like dinosaurs, mammoths, and Saber tooth tigers. And Mythical Zoans are based on creatures the existence of which are called into question, with mystical abilities. For example, turning into a Phoenix would not only grant flight, but super regeneration and healing abilities. There are so many different Zoans, that multiples in an animal family are classified as "models", like the Dog Dog Fruit: Model Jackal and Dog Dog Fruit: Model Dachsund. A certain scientist in One Piece as found a way to bring inanimate objects to life by feeding a Zoan Fruit to it. Zoan fruits tend to have minds of their own, you see.

the manga begins the final saga, but at least it will still go on for 5-8 years, well, because the creator left too many riddles and it will not be possible to reveal and explain everything in a couple of years

@@fandomsearcher I speak as a fan who has been watching anime for 8 years and reading manga for 7, the creator of Oda is still able to surprise even after 25 years, but I honestly feel sorry for him, he is half his life for one piece for us fans, and some of us severely criticize him when Oda decides to leave for a week break, he has a wife and daughter koraya already an adult and they only see him on weekends, but Ode loves his fans and tries for us, there is even a story in which one boy who had cancer from the last stage and he didn't have long to live, but he wanted to know how one piece would end and Ode found out about it, came to this fry and told him the ending even realizing that because of this he may have problems

Power system in one piece ranges from magical fruits , insane training, racial traits , wodoo magic , will power , cybernetics , advanced weapons and even genetic modification but 90 % fall in to the haki + df category
The power system is broken down into devil fruit, Haki, skills, and science. Currently there is 1081 chapters and 1059 episodes...the author said he is nearing the end of manga but the anime will probably end a few years after the manga does.
As currently, there is a delay of about a year between the appearance of an event in the manga and the appearance of the same event in the anime, when the OP manga will end, we can estimate that the anime will survive it a year, maybe a year and a half.
Quick Run-down (Non-spoiler) about Devil Fruits: Devil Fruits are essentially powerful fruit items that can be eaten by one person at a time (any secondary consumers do not gain the power). Only one devil fruit of any kind can exist in the world at a given point. For example: (Hypothecial fruit name) is eaten by me. While i have this power, it will be distinctly mine and cannot exist naturally at the same. A Caveat of the fruits is that the ocean hates those who have consumed them. So being submerged in any body of water (up to ankles) will not only weaken the devil fruit user. But will eventually fully paralyze them as they are further submerged. Meaning that fruit users cannot swim. Many devil fruit exists, each with their own unique power and limitations. Some fruits my inadvertently give the user secondary skills, such as a fruit that lets you control fire allows you to be relatively immune to fire. That being said, another Caveat of devil fruits is that your existence (upon consumption) is now tied to your new ability, meaning that weaknesses AND strengths can be brought about simply by virtue of consumption. Fake Devil fruit example: A fruit that lets you turn into a chameleon / back to human, at will. Realistically, the main use of the fruit would be to turn into a chameleon for camoflouge tactics. But, seeing as you are now what is called a "Chameleon Human"
OH, I forgot to mention. That in within the scope of the "Chameleon-Human" power. A full transformation would likely give the user an extremely elongated and opposable tongue, 360 Degree vision with divisible eyes, the ability to scale up walls etc.
One Piece has 2 main magic systems. The first is the devil fruits which are introduced in the very first chapter/episode the second is teased/hinted at until it's introduction later in the story.
Manga is a decent ways into the next main story arc, and current story arc in the anime is near its end, with the main enemy group being only four more primary foes left. Captain Charlotte "Big Mom" Linlin, who allied with Captain Kaido against the crew, along with Captain Kaido and his two strongest generals. So, it's near the end of the current arc in the main story.
Just a heads up but you missed àn opening between the last two (for the 1000th episode which is a call back to the first opening just better graphics and stuff).
I was actually wondering about this because I was like 99% sure I've seen the name of the first opening pop up again in the list but I couldn't find it when I was recording. Must have escaped me somehow
It's always a disservice when creators split the OPs into 2 parts, simply because 12 -14 are all one big story in opening form and they always come back after the first and kinda lose a lil when reacting to the other 2 the next week or whatever. Feels bad man. But I get it. It's an hour long so.
33:19 Luffy is 17 when the story starts by this point he is 19 and his body is catching up to his age because his power is sealed and because of that he can build muscle easily. 40:15 Not at all it's just that the tone became a lot more serious but the over the top fantasy and goofiness is still there the opening just doesn't show it. Luffy's power proves this but I can't explain it because it's not in the anime yet and I don't want to spoil nor you nor the people who read the comments.
If you're into magic systems you have to watch jojo because you can't be more unique or crazier than that. The further it goes the more bizarre it gets too

I am super curious, what were you expecting Luffy to sound like! To OnePiece fans his VA gets a lot of credit and her voice is basically Luffys at this point. Something she seems to embrace and is super lovely about. She seems to absolutely adore her job. And I am not trying to imply I was unhappy about your comment or that you are saying anything against or for this! Just that her voice is seen as absolutely perfect for Luffy in the OnePiece community. And it got me super curious about what you were expecting? Also, your cat is adorable.
I fully believe that. I doubt the VAs could go for this long if they lacked the passion they surely have. I thought it was going to be set a bit lower. I don't know why, just based on Luffy's body build, I expected something a bit deeper 😄 But honestly, if I knew he was a younger teen when I watched it, I think I wouldn't be so surprised to hear woman voicing him 😄
The 'powers' and fighting methods are a very mixed bag. From an outsiders perspective, I can only say that Oda loves every excuse he can get to draw reasonably WACKY stuff. He does a great job catering to the powers of his medium in a way that an ordinary novel simply couldn't get away with by blending comedy and seriousness at all times to the point where they no longer feel mutually exclusive or forced in. It is just the way One Piece is. Separating the powers exactly is hard, not in the least because the author has offered a lot of practical 'how's, but not many practical or theoretical 'why's. First of all, let's ignore all the normal plebs, even if they are a bit strong. The most obvious (especially later in the series) are technology-based super powers that rely on tools of some kind or even body modification. There are also a bunch of different races (fishmen/mermaids/minks/etc) which tend to have their own unique racial traits. There's also a supplemental class of acquired or trained power called 'haki' that can be split into a couple of different varieties, but at least one of those seems to be very rare or outright based on personality or destiny, but in all cases training matters a lot. And finally, there is the most obvious one from the first chapter, the so-called devil fruits. The exact nature of these is rather vague (one of the most recent chapters actually gave some new insights into this but not nearly enough!) but at the core, consuming one of those causes one to lose their ability to swim while offering a particular fantastical power. Outside of aforementioned haki (which acts as an equalizer or outright bigger fist) they generally exist on the concept that there are no strong or weak devil fruits, but only mutual compatibility. Some of the weirdest and most useless fruits have ended up being amazing against fruits that would be considered amazingly overpowered against anything else simply because they ended up as a proverbial rock to the scissors, and that still excludes that the person who ate the devil fruit who finally determines just how powerful or useful that fruit is in practice. That said, the devil fruits are themselves categorized into a couple of categories (from most common to rarest): paramecia (anything that is not the latter two), zoan (a power based on another organism like dogs, eagles, etc) and logia (user becomes a certain substance AND can create/control/destroy it with a thought). The last one is typically considered the most powerful, but paramecia are a very varied group, some of which are basically logia-esque in nature but who just miss some part of the omnipotent aspect regarding the element. Using Luffy as an example, he is a rubber man who ate the Rubber fruit: his body behaves like rubber, but he's not able to create any or control any other rubber in the world, and thus his power is classified as a paramecia and not a logia. (Yes people, I know what you want to say, but those who read this might not and it was a completely fine comparison for >1000 chapters and totally fine for this!) As for the origin of these fruits? Other than them regrowing when a user dies (so devil fruits aren't outright lost over time and many of their powers ended up in an encyclopedia) and people apparently exploding if they try to eat multiple devil fruits, we just don't know very much about how they came about to begin with. Now the fun part in One Piece is that it is a blend of all these things. What do you get when you throw in a crazy overpowered genius? You end up with dog spitting baseballs as if they were bullets. Oh no, correction: it is a gun that was _fed_ the zoan dachshund fruit, giving it sentience in the process. It is a completely ludicrous concept (inanimate objects obtaining a powerup by eating it) but this crazy genius managed to accomplish it using technology. This is how you end up in a crazily cohesive world with ghost ships, cutlasses, guns, laser beams and aerial bombardments which somehow all manage to fit together. The sword never becomes completely obsolete, but technology does have certain advantages. Or disadvantages. It kinda depends on the situation. Regardless, it is a mess that is strangely cohesive. All logic might imply that none of this makes any sense and it should not work, but it simply does.
Devil fruit and that source of power have 3 categories paramecia logia and zoan if you watch it you will know what's the difference between them. And one more thing is haki.. and haki have 3 categories too .haki is same as reatsu of bleach chackra in Naruto nen in hunter X hunter ki in dragon ball poryoku in shaman king ..
The manga is in its last saga, which is a good and bad thing 🥲 the manga is expected to end in 2-3 years and the anime is a year behind so the anime will end in 4-5 years
I don't want the author to rush the story, and if it ended in 3 years the Final Saga would be shorter than Wano arc. (A Saga is multiple Arcs.) With many mysteries still unanswered, and with how long ONE PIECE fights take, I don't want that!
Knowing Oda, this could easily turn into like 5-8 years. Remember One piece was supposed to last only 5 years but turned out this big because there were too many things he wanted to write. Also, iirc, Oda once said we would reach wano in 2017 but that only happened almost two years later, so there is a precedent for terrible predictions lol
@@fandomsearcher With 3 episodes per day (1 hour by removing the opening and the to be continued from each episode), it would take you a year to catch up with those who are up to date in the anime. Watching it for over 20 years and knowing what I know, I will do it with no problem. The trip is worth the detour.
I encourage you to watch The Breathtaking World of One Piece - that is the short film made by one fan that shows you the beauty of the world that Oda created - it's spoiler free, even the main group is almost absent from it. The author (Strawhat 𝐕) also created the fan-made trailer for the final saga of the manga that is now starting - it's so full of spoilers that the person who's never read/watched OP won't catch any, because they require additional knowledge to know what they mean. This film (One Piece - Unleashed) greatly shows the atmosphere of the One Piece, which is truly dark, if you think about this.
