Did you buy the cheapest option on the aliexpress link since you got your radio separate ? or you bought the option with the radio and got another radio because it was better?
The kit alone when I bought it was over 400.00. It's now under 100.00. I bought the actual radio off Amazon because tye Ali one didn't have some features that I was looking for, and my phone was newer that android 11 so that radio wouldn't allow for Bluetooth, wifi etc from my phone. As well as mirror link
The 07 has them by the parking brake unless you have the full arm rest. My console is a 06+. Below the radio is a big square storage area with a mat. If you remove the mat you can use those turn in cup holders but for change etc. Not tall enough for a can.
Did the kit that you bought include a backup camera? I just bought a kit and it came with one, but I’m not sure where to run the wiring from the license plate all the way to the radio. I have an 09. Also I appreciate the video it helps a lot!
Yes. It's a process. Mount the camera and inside the trunk when you fold how the carpet and look behind the plastic there are rubber grommets. Remove one and run the wire into the trunk. Then you can run it under the backseat and either up the carpet and under the center console or under the backseat and tucked under the rear speaker area, then under the door sills up to the dash and over to the radio.
@@BillySwetnam oh wow😭 I was debating even putting the camera on, but I paid like $275 for the kit because it included the touch screen too so I figured I might as well get my moneys worth. How long did everything take you in total?
@@brookebowman6866 I've had mine tore apart so many time lol. I can do it in less than an hour. The rear lower seat just pops out. You can then tuck the wire under the rear panel. The door sills pop up easy also. The. Run the wire under it. Just make sure you run it behind the seatbelt bar al it's not shown. If you get a plastic trim tool it helps. You can them pry the part where your hood release is and tuck the wire under it. Otherwise removing the handle is a pain ( I'm 6'5" and don't fit under the dash well)
@@BillySwetnam yeah that’s fair lol. I’ve never done anything that involved more than a screwdriver on mine so it’ll definitely take me longer but I’m determined🤣 but I’m 6’0, my dad 6’3, and even he said my car is really roomy! I have my seat all the way to the back seat tho so idk how you do it man! It’s a fun car tho I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
@@brookebowman6866 it is roomy inside lol. It's just not roomy under the dash. Laying upside down with your head in the floor and feet on the ceiling trying to see under there lol
Shifter isn't bad at all. Sound quality is good. I have aftermarket speakers also. But friends who have their stock speakers have great sound as well. Just make sure the radio has an eq and you can adjust all of that. I have an android radio in y bmw and it sounds better than stock, but the one in my truck doesn't sound great.
It physically fits, but the back of the beetle is round vs the squared shape of this one. Not really noticeable. It's pretty much plug and play with the airbag. Some new beetles have dual zone bags and some have single zone. My 00 has single zone but my 99 had dual. It's just another part of the airbag that deploys at lower or higher speeds. The plug is the same you just have to put it into the right spot. The steering wheel controls on the other hand were a pain. If you got a wheel without steering wheel controls you can order the add on kit which looks oem and pairs easy with the radio. Otherwise you have to buy the universal steering wheel kit add on and figure out the ohm ratings for each button. If you car is 02+ (I think), I know 06+ for sure, and has canbus, you have less of a pain with wiring because the wheel is canbus also. You have to use vagcom to program the canbus option for steering wheel. I had to shave the clock spring etc out for this one so I could use the wiring. Stock clock spring only has 2 or 3 wires. New one is 6 I think
Only issue I've had is my battery always dead. Turned out that the way the harness is wired it sends power to the antenna all the time. Which drains the battery. I unhooked the 12v constant and put it to switched and the same with antenna. The radio has external memory so it doesn't need the 12v constant. Haven't had a problem since. Sound quality I'm not really happy with. The radio alone I picked out from Amazon with features I wanted. But the eq doesn't have the option to adjust with bluetooth, hulu, Netflix etc. Only with fm radio and SD card.
That's great work. Do I have some questions, the control buttons on the steering wheel running on this screen ? and the screen support CD changer? And the other question is this is the modern beetle wheel or what car?
They are using a add on wiring kit. There is no cd changer but there is an aux input that the cd changer could be installed to. The Steering wheel is a 2016 VW CC.

Where did you purchase the wire harness extender for the hazard button and the airbag light? I have a 2002 and all my buttons are under my climate control and I can't find a harness extender anywhere and I'm not the best at doing it myself
if I'm new to any kind of car mods, would u recommend going to a professional? im being quoted about $500 for installation for a similar screen and identical fascia kit, and really am unwilling to pay that much. what would u recommend for installation? thank u !
I bought the kit from AliExpress for 300.0p ish. The radio I purchased from amazon because it was cheaper than buying the whole kit from aliexpress. Plus it has other options in the radio that were not available. The mounting kit is impressive. Looks and feels like the stock dash so that was a plus. The radio I am still working with designing apps and programs on it. Being an android based Radio is nice for the app store, but I'm used to building windows radio i.e winCE

Hello, my friend. I'm having issues after I installed a stereo on my 2010 Beetle. The ABS, handbrake and engine lights are on, I hear relay clicking sounds once I turn off the car, and the car is having many other electrical problems, such as the alarm firing at random times, etc. I am searching the internet for a solution, and I see many people with the same problem as mine, but no one has the solution. Do you know anything that might help me? Thanks in advance
@@BillySwetnam I've extensively searched the internet about the need or not of a Canbus decoder, and apparently it is only needed for years 11+, and mine is a 10. I've also talked to the manufacturer of my stereo, and it seems that when the car needs the Canbus decoder the connector from the car is different from this one.
