I love watching a video just before heading out to work, keeps my eye on our move to Portugal strong. The sound a pig makes when it's mildly inconvenienced is something else, as a kid I remember pig moving day with mixed feelings. I usually ended up going to school with a strange smell about me.

Love the piggie house! The piggies won't be able to wreck it. I remember making snowflakes. My mother used to iron and starch them. They are so pretty. Love the 3d stars. Those darn processionary things! Nasty! It's good to get those pines out. 🙂👍👍🇨🇦🎅🌲🎁

Those pallets make great pig houses. Well done, Nick. Andrea, to make those beautiful snowflakes stiffer, could you spray them with starch before ironing? Those pines will give some firewood next year. More room for the cork oaks.

The new pig house is wonderful! What a great place for them to live! Bubble and Squeek...it took me time to catch on. Lol I don't know that I've ever seen caterpillars in pine trees before. That isn't something pine trees in Colorado seem to be infested with. Our problem was Pine Beetle. It destroyed thousands of acres of pine. Entire mountains of trees had to be cut down and burned. It's the only way to destroy them. They travel among trees very quickly. Your snowflakes are lovely! Better yet, they don't need to be shoveled off the path! We've had three small snowfalls so far, and I'm sick of winter already! Merry Christmas to you both and any family you will celebrate with this season! Happy New Year! 🍾❄🎉😲🎅

I was wondering about the new little piggery, like you do, and I was thinking that you could advance the design a little and possibly have the whole structure unbolting from the base so you could lift it off, move it a few yards and then dig out the pig-manure-mixed soil, put some less fertile soil in and then have something rather good for the vegetable patch - but I've had a few beers and comments are generally better when they come from sober individuals. Who's to tell? Good video - keep it up!

A piggie haven!! All the piggies want to live on your farm 😄. Love the snowflakes. I'd forgotten how to make them. I've not seen the 3D ones before. Very nice!! Every time you cut down those pines you're also reducing your fire risk, so it's a win/win. The cork oaks and olive trees are indeed such nicer trees. Looking forward to the Christmas video. Have a look through this channels older videos, especially the ones that feature Nick and Ang rescued Max from an abusive situation. With their careful and consistent guidance, Max has blossomed into a whole new dog❣ While ever the outdoors fierce quinta guard dog, he is caringly tolerant of Boris the cat and even marauding piglets who appropriated his warm fluffy bed in his own dang house while he sat out in the pouring rain 😕! Max is very well loved, and HE knows it. You can see this in how happy and playful he is with Mommy and Daddy whenever they're with him.

One of the other vloggers from the UK have just planted several pine trees. I commented to them that others are taking down pine trees, like you and as Sarah and Luke have in the past. I don't think their aware of the caterpillar problem. I commented on their site, but no reply. They are "Portugal It is." I am not aware of those in the US. I had a pine tree growing in my patio (60 feet tall) but it had to be cut down because its roots were lifting my dining room foundation. Very interesting vlog today. Thanks. Jane, Philadelphia

Pallets are in short supply in Portugal as they are welcomed by many as a less-expensive building material. Although a large supply of pallets must be paid for, an upside may be that pallets in the E.U. are not as heavily treated with chemicals to deter bugs etc as the pallets used in the USA.

That is a very handsome new pig condo that your smallest piglets are breaking in. What lucky little former mommy-abandoned tykes they are! The house will do nicely as your 1st maternity ward, worthy of piggy princess Cindy and the wee ones to come. Eensy weensy newborn piglets could escape the fencing though 😬, no? The pig house begs for it's own solar panel, though. For what? To juice the inflatable scarecrow with the flappy arms to keep predatory birds from swooping away the babies. You're welcome. Or maybe the solar panel could power a tiny space heater, the kind that shows a picture of a log fire. And it can also power the faerie lights for the babies. 😁 Oo, chainsaw milling is right up your buddy Luke's alley. Please do include footage of your permitted fires for the waste foliage and the evil murderous maiming caterpillars and their nests 🔥🦠🔥. Boris is indeed unflappable. I believe he is actually your (chill) alpha animal on the quinta! Not piglets, not Max, not Diogo/Tigger cause Boris to lose his cool 😺. Brilliant ❄snowflakes❄, Ang. @@projectportugal can you show these traps more? we have loads of these creatures on our trees and mostly pine trees on the land. we need affordable traps. have you tried pheromone traps? bird nests seems don't help. by the way I saw online that there are also processionary caterpillars even for cork oaks and other types of oaks, devastating these trees too. and even trees like walnuts and other. there are lots of videos on YB about these caterpillars

They have a right to protect themselves and their Dogs from Killer Processionary Caterpillars in Portugal. The Pine Processionary Caterpillar can also cause your animals, you or other people, severe medical problems. several people have suffered quite seriously from the effects of coming into contact with the caterpillar, or at least the hairs of the animal. Well done guys.

If you’ve watched their other videos, they are always planting trees, shrubs and gardens. They harvest the wood for heating. Nothing is wasted.

Even the native Portuguese fell their pines that the processionary caterpillars favor than risk the lives of their animals and families. Nick and Andrea even know the difference if the tyoe of oines that should be felled to eliminate processionary caterpillar habitat and which soecies of oine they can leave standing.
