Classic Captain Scarlet and New Captain Scarlet can coexist - so play nice! Did you see Circles of Doom on its original broadcast run? What's your favourite episode of New Captain Scarlet?

I would like to say here that I adored this series. A worthy successor to the original, but I adore both inclusively and unconditionally.

This just goes to show everyone: Sometimes, modern day problems, require old fashion solutions.

68 years old this month and I'm watching Captain Scarlet Now if only I could go back in time

Great animation on the Angel's flying

This was one of my favourites when it first released back when I was a kid!

Brings back so many Great memories of my childhood. Gerry Anderson made our childhoods totally awesome with shows like Captain scarlett. Godspeed Gerry

My only regret is that Barry Gray's excellent theme tunes couldn't accompany these episodes. I still listen to his theme tunes while commuting to work in my bright red futuristic hybrid vehicle - it seems the perfect tribute to the futuristic world his music depicted.

The Late Gerry Anderson and the crew were Geniuses ! And you don't get that type of Vision.

I missed all these because I left the UK over thirty years ago. Definitely need a new series.

I'd love to see a Netflix/Apple etc, series taken up of Capt Scarlet. I watched the original as a kid, and this early CGI series is really well done. The next gen for Capt Scarlet would be fantastic!

I had no idea this even existed! I remember watching the original CS afterschool in reruns on a local station. CS, cinnamon toast with a glass of milk and doing my homework while waiting for my mom to get home from work. Well, I know what I'll be watching. lol

My favourite episode episode of the CGI version, I love the Lancaster.

Great episode. Given Gerry himself was in the RAF during WWII, i like to think he paid particular attention to this episode's depiction of the Lancaster in both the script & graphics.

I remember watching shows like this and and storm Hawks this is literally resonating on the wavelength of my childhood I've been looking them up lately in it's been amazing a real nostalgia trip I'm pretty sure Captain Scarlet introduced me to the sci-fi genre as a whole and skyhawks introduced me to the steampunk genre both of which I'm still interested in to this day

Ever since 2000, I've waited and wondered when we would go back to the old Tube Analog technology. This episode shows the benefits. 👍👏💪😄

The Angels display in the early part of this display is superb. I wish One could see them do it for real. You also get viewpoints that no normal display can provide.

Such great CGI for the time, imagine what this would look like using today's techniques. Time for a remake I think!

I was on holiday last year and watched the entire series on Amazon Prime. It was great.

Wait a minute. Lancaster Bombers are over a hundred years old. And the Mysterons won't take that into account. And easily my favourite episode.

Still 237.58 times better than Disney StarWars.

I own the two DVD box sets which came out afterwards and seeing the intro to this version is very different from the DVD release. Still nice to watch these again

The great comparison of the high-tech gadgets which are the advanced fighter jets and good old days' warplanes portrayed together here. There is a fear of today's weapon systems being hacked and all controls being lost along with no idea of taking measurements to recover and have them back online. Moreover, and literary there is no backup or auxiliary system to sustain a combat capability for the operation to be kept to continue. I would say it is so ironic to pull the WW.2 warbird out of the hangar to participate in combat which is thought of as an antique display rather than a battle gear. Fortunately, the plan for the plane flew pretty well, and the Lancaster did a job well done, really saved the day. I can tell that we need the least amount of backup equipment stand by to be deployed for back in active duty to support and maintain for conducting modern warfare with the systems and arsenal that came out almost a couple of decades ago for instance. In addition, I was impressed by the Angel Interceptors' demo flight. They showed a world top-notch class skills in the aerial demonstration which was sophisticatedly choreographed. My attention was drawn not to just their flight skills to dance in the sky, but also to the capability of the Angel Interceptors' performance. The flight gimmicks and active airflow control systems to conduct a demo are so impressive such as decelerating from a high-speed approach by keeping a high angle of attack nose position incorporating thrust-vectored nozzles and canards which really contribute to controlling airflow as if the airplane is free from being dominated by the gravity. These excellent maneuvers were successfully done by highly advanced flight control systems monitored by the sensor-equipped main computer does an enormous amount of computations and needless to say the highly trained pilot skills added to that. BTW, I personally loved the pre-flight check sequences of the Angel Interceptors before take-offs, such as moving its flaps, ailerons, canards, and thrust-vector nozzles up and down with the burners on. As I mentioned before, these high-tech systems could be hacked by the adversary who attempts to crack and make our instruments go down and almost impossible to prevent no matter how many countermeasures are taken. TBH, I still don't know the answer and what is the best way to deal with it. Maybe those outdated ( I wouldn't call them obsolete) fighters someday might save the day if there is a call and the grand old lady stole the show this time. The wings that once fought for us. Make us proud.

My first watch of the New Captain scarlet and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. GREAT story line enjoyed the graphics. A well earned 9 out of 10, only gave a 9 to keep you on your toes. Will definitely watch more episodes.

A clever episode comparing simple old tech and complex new. Did anyone notice that Harmony was wearing a helmet labelled Destiny at approx 5:00? Even in CGI some continuity errors appear!

As a fan of the original series right from its first run the CGI version manages to both update and buit also keep the visceral feel of the original while also allowing thnre new techniques to show themselves off. The formation flying sequences were gorgeous and fantastically devised. Excellent episode.

I never got to see this on initial run (Ministry of Mayhem was absolute cack) and I remember going (as a teen) "Ugh! This isn't Captain Scarlet! Why would they do this to Gerry Anderson?!" (I was NOT a bright teenager). So now I'm an adult and... This series is absolutely brilliant. Kind of like if UFO was mixed with Captain Scarlet. And I was a HUGE fan of the original series (I had the Skybase from the 90s) but... Man, I wish this had been given a fair chance and I wish I had given it a chance back then.

Televisions used to have Brightness and Contrast knobs. Now the Brilliance of the past writers is in stark Contrast to the present Hollywood malaise

Didn't know they'd redone captain scarlett until today. 1st saw the series when it was rerun back in the 90's After the 1999 remake series died in development hell its doubly good this got out.

I remember a variant of this plot in the TV 21 strip cartoon of _Captain Scarlet,_ way back in the 60s.

After Scarlet said "pranged it?" I really wanted the Colonel to say "something up with my banter, chaps?" 😅 I wasn't expecting this to hold a candle to the original (which I just discovered), but it was actually pretty good!

Love both versions of Scarlet and would love to see a continuation (looking at you ITV & Weta) after the successful reboot of Thunderbirds maybe even Stingray? How about a crossover style pilot featuring International Rescue, Spectrum & W.A.S.P. making it a shared universe a la the MCU??

There definitely should be another Captain Scarlet series produced. I really think the characters and concept need to be explored more in-depth. I don't mind if they do another puppet based show which is more seemless and glossy. It could continue the story from the Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. One season was not enough!!

It's a shame that after "If what, Captain?" the first shot wasn't of the Lancaster zooming by. That would have been something.

Whenever i see the crater at 20:39 to 20:50, I swear the smoke takes on the image of Captain Black.

Wish captain scarlet could be made using real actors I'd watch it and I think it would be worth it.

There should be a live action movie of Captain Scarlet, Stingray, and a total remake of the 2004 Thunderbirds (maybe have Gordon with his copper colored hair this time)

So we've had a Captain Scarlet remake, and a Thunderbirds remake. Now I'm hoping for Stingray (and maybe Fireball XL5) to recieve one.

Object lesson, should always keep some zinc-plated, vacuum tube tech around as backup. Though that big solar flare in the 19th century did manage to fry some Telegraph systems.

There was a cartoon version of Captain Scarlet in “21st Century Magazine” that echoes this story. Scarlet and the Angles have to out manoeuvre Captain Black and the Mysterons by using the Battle of Britain flight consisting of a Spitfire, Hurricane and a Lancaster as their engines ran on high octane fuel.

They had analog bomb targeting "computers" which involved cams and mirrors. Put in the inputs and the viewfinder showed where the bombs would hit if released at that point. When the target appeared in the crosshairs, you punched the release. The analog targeting computers for big naval guns even calculated the inertia due to the spin of the Earth of a projectile at the latitude launched and compensated for landing at the latitude of the target.
