I have the same car 137XXX miles on it. Great car and very reliable less maintenance but, will need to replace a lot of parts in order for it to run like a new car.
Glad you managed to get hold of one of these, the pre-2005 Euro 3 D5's are excellent! I sold my previous 2003 S60 D5 at 203k miles and thats still going strong nearly 70k later with it's next owner...! They are hard to beat for the money and that's a great price! If the market wasn't so weird I might have fancied a change but my current 2008 S60 has loads of life left in it. While you're at the cambelt, replace all of the auxiliary belt components too as if they fail they can take out the cambelt(!). You have probably found already but you can get individual aftermarket adjusters for the rear handbrake shoes.
Looks like an excellent buy for the money, especially with the current prices. I've had a few V70s of the same generation and ABS issues are quite common. Mine both needed new ABS rings as they had split and caused the same error message.
a lot of car for the money indeed! The green really shows at 04:55 .. my 2001 V70 is just clicked over 200,000 miles and its doing just fine! The looks are maturing very well! looks better every day~
Fantastic car!! I had a 2005 S60 D5 with the same engine… mine was slow to turn over and had a new battery. I’ve driven several since and they were the same too. The Anti-Skid message on mine turned out to be the reluctor rings on the drive shaft for the ABS. Best way to save the gearbox is to have it serviced and a software update. Good luck!! You can make them über frugal by having a TerraClean done… it transformed mine into a rocket, and high 60’s on a run.
The abs light, yes I had that nuisance too. From memory it was a 2004 fault. The module box had to be reconditioned. Cost me £400 and a lot of headache. I also had the rear door lock issue, which is an mot fail. Probably best to find a good auto electrical chap. I tried changing the lock but it made no difference. Best of luck.
With such old tires, looks to be that it isn't drive for a long time. About only 100.000 km looks to few..but why not. Volvo is the best and the XC 70 with four wheel drive is very good in any situiation.
When it comes to the abs fault. Read the codes but most likely it will be abs ring that has rusted away on the front driveshafts. Can be bought and replaced seperatly.
@@MorselsAndMotors glad that you fixed it. :) they are very nice and comfy cars to drive. And that engine will live forever. If any questions on the Volvo things, do not hesitate to ask. Know thing or two about them.
Interesting - twice now I've posted a message about my two XC70 as well as where you can get parts close by and both times my post has disappeared... Will this one disappear as well?
I bought a 56 plate XC70 having previously owned a cheap V70 to move a bunch of things with. Since owning the XC70 I’ve spent about £3,700 on it. New discs, pads, cam belt change, Alternator, air-con service, Bridgestone all season tyres, gearbox service, engine service. Now done over 20,000 miles just over 9 months. Next up will be alloy wheel refurb, tint the rear glass, and re-map engine to over 200HP from 185HP
@@MorselsAndMotors Thanks for the info , Sadly thats what I feared you would say . I own a 2014 Plate D4 SE LUX Volvo V70 ,which only costs me £ 30.00 Per YEAR . ! I wanted a XC70 to match .Love these beautiful looking cars . a mate of mine also owns a XC70 and he said how high the road tax was ,I thought he was having a Laugh ,but according to you he wasnt ! Kind Thanks
You got a lot of car for the money! She looks great, and I love the color combo. My daily is a 2004 V70 with 180,000 miles. I paid just a hair more than you did, but it has been such a wonderful car that I wouldn’t complain if I paid 3 times as much. These seem to be about as bulletproof as a similar era Toyota! Enjoy it! 😃
