Gran Turismo 7 1.49 - the July update patch is here! And with it arrives 6 new cars, a returning circuit in the form of Eiger Nordwand, new career mode events, collection book for McLaren, additional Sophy AI accessible circuits, new scapes, engine swaps, physics changes, tyres and more. We have the returning Ferrari 430 Scuderia and Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, legendary 1998 Subaru Impreza Rally Car, RUF RGT 4.2 from 2016, Gr1 racing variant of the Genesis X Vision GT car, and making its debut - the iconic E36 shape BMW M3!
With that in mind here are my first impressions, review and overall thoughts on the GT7 July 1.49 update, and I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below - are you disappointed with 1.49, happy, or indifferent?

@@Retheraq physics are indeed broken, polyphony even addressed it in the notes when you first load into the game. They said a patch is coming to fix the glitched physics. My buddy said last night his bone stock Bugatti won’t even make it out of the pits.

Update was definitely worth the wait and hype! Loving the new cars, track etc... One thing im enjoying the most though is the new physics! Even more fun to drive in this game now! Overall a fantastic update!

It's cool to have all the m3 generations. Now they need to start doing the m5s. They also need to do the rs Audis, rs2, rs3, all the rs4 and rs6 generations.

they were doing some datamining a few months back i think and they found a E60 M5, along with an RS6 Avant along with like 30-60 other cars, (i was to lazy to count all of them) which implies that GT7 will probably last a lot longer than we think

@@markthegamedriverThe physics have been praised by SuperGt who drives Gr.4 cars on the Nurburgring, so I’d say the new physics are realistic. Just say your driving skills are faulty and move on.

New physics are incredibly different when it comes to rally and drifting especially the self steer in rwd drift cars which you have to tune incredibly different to the previous update

The Ruf is great. I love using it, but the E36 has got to be the most fun car in this update. It's just so much fun and so good to work with it really makes a phenomenal addition to GT

Something to note about this update is that they've recalculated PP values for the first time since 1.31 (I only remember because that update broke the Ferrari VGT) and it's just kind of annoying since so many cars have jumped way up for no good reason. All my 800 and 700pp builds will need to be updated, and some cars are no longer usable. I found a legitimate use for the Tomahawk GTS-R, the poster child for useless VGT's in the Gr.1 Prototype Series, and now it's back to its useless self.

I wouldn't be bothered by the recalculation so much if the increase and decrease of PPs weren't so inconsistent. I hate seeing the PP jump from 703 to 696 with just 1 push of the Ballast. It's still like this now.

friendly advice: racing at Eiger Nordwand with anything higher than a Gr.4 or Gr.B is a crapshoot. Anyways, it's easily the best update we've gotten this year so far. I love driving the E36 M3, Impreza Rally Car, and the RGT 4.2.

Great Update, great cars, the physics is well done BUT the track is a bit of a let-down for me. Coming way back from GT3, I remember when the Eiger Nordwand got added to GT5 Prologue (and GT5). It used to be a bit different, you drove through the tunnel and there also used to be two (I think?) different dirt variations of the Eiger. The long rally course was amazing, with great elevation and complex corners. Unfortunately, there are no hints of the rally course. Right after the start/finish line the track went offroad to the left, and we can‘t see anything there. Weirdly enough, where the track used to rejoin the circuit course (right before the tunnel), the hiking trail can be seen (which the rally course is based on). In Photo Mode you can actually see the hiking trail or what used to be the rally course. I really loved the Eiger Nordwand, but the last sector sort of ruined the vibe, as well as the start/finish line jump. They always butcher the original tracks.. what a bummer!

I miss the tunnel section in the Eiger track. The rally type cars do very well on this track, wrx Evo, gr yaris and corolla ect.

I noticed the updated the physics the second i used the new Impreza in a rally race, feels so much better and i actually had a lot of fun with it and it makes me want to race rally a lot more!

It was one of my favourite tracks, they re-drew eiger nordvand, in tightened some of the corners and changed the tunnel, and they removed the jump on the straight.

I love that a returning track is in this update. The cars are a mix but I like it. The only minus is why can't they add more events? I would literally pay for more events and additional cars.

I'll just post my thoughts on Eiger Norwand for now. I'm thankful to see that in comparison to the Gran Turismo 1 circuits, the layout of this track is pretty much unchanged. There's no obvious corner changes like the final Trial Mountain corner or the new hairpin on Deep Forest. I also love how the Circuit Experience uses an Alfa Romeo sports car. Anyone who tried golding the Grand Tour Time Trial in GT5 will have intense memories brought back (although I found the CE very easy) I checked the section that brings over dirt for a potential upcoming K Trial course, and while it seems the layout isn't changed much, it's now much narrower, pretty much confining it only to people walking. I sadly think this means there's no chance of the dirt courses returning to GT7. HOWEVER! I don't think this means they'll never come back to Gran Turismo. In GT Sport, the Test course section of Alsace didn't exist. It was fully modeled into GT7, so there's a chance the same thing could happen for GT8 or 9. I'm doubtful though, and frankly I want more classic rally tracks like Tahiti Maze or Swiss Alps to return instead. As for the aesthetic, yeah it's much more corporate than before. I don't mind the lower jump, but the start/finish line looks too toybox like, the grass is more lime than emerald, and the new pit stop removing the tunnel section is unnecessary. I get the feeling they brought this track back as a homage to the fact this was the first ever HD track in the Gran Turismo series, and maybe to add a different background for drift videos for content creators as a break from Tsukuba. I don't mind the inclusion, but I don't like having to wait this long for a new circuit that wasn't teased beforehand. Also, digging the new thumbnail style

I like the new physics updates. The cars seem more planted, especially with race tires. I've also noticed changes to multiple vehicles PP. I'm still waiting on the Porsche Invite, I've never been given it since the game release. $20 million for the McLaren F1, nope! Another ticket I won't be getting.

The WRC 1998 Subaru is excellent & wished they would leave psychics alone i don't like having to retune again being 2 seconds slower then before just to get back too where i was beforehand

On the physics: it's crap. My mate is on a g29 and he can hardly feel a thing now. Might as well use the controller. I'm on a csl dd and it's doable. Not nice, doable. Racecars are alright. Roadcars on sports tyres are not. The feel in the wheel is about 50% of what was, even after manual fidgeting with the wheel setup. More detail but far less feedback and reliability. With the 8Nm I built up some muscle tone and now I don't need it. And lateral grip has gone out the window sideways. I feel a reset update coming up soon.

I’ve found the new physics make the game more punishing. Making mistakes seems to make cars much more unstable than before, and whilst is is a bit of a learning curve for me, I am enjoying this update as a whole

The S2000 engine swap is the highlight me. I’ve wanted to make a Gr3 S2000 build like we had in GT3 and now I finally can! Wish we got a rally version of Eiger to go along with the Subaru - kind of incohesive of Polyphony to add a rally car and no rally track, but I’m a fan of Eiger road either way. The cars are kinda meh for me. Glad you mentioned the performance of the Genesis, it’s a weird one to drive.

Heya HSG great video as always! This may be a bit out of topic but it is GT7 related, im very curious to know what your preferred controller settings are. Mainly stuff like sensitivity, abs settings, tcs, that kinda stuff im always looking for different setups to try to improve my driving on the game. And your tuning setups already are definitely the way to go for me!

the game became unplayable overnight, a great deal of my cars cant get a PP rating and anything that is a road car is undrivable yet any racecar even on RH feels like its impossible to get it to slip, resulting in a horrifically boring drive even on a car like the pugeot GR.1s

Apart from the new physics (which are awful in my opinion, the car snap oversteers even with tons of assists on), I really enjoyed this new update, love the new Eiger, love the new wheels and the new cars as well. Sure some stuff could be added, but this we could let for a future update, but firstly lets fix the physics first cuz they are making enjoying the new update harder.

I play on controller, and for me I think the new physics has changed the game completely for the worst, this is from me doing a few races this morning on tracks and with road cars I use all the time, and for me it is a lot, lot harder to catch oversteer now, cars in general felt a lot more twitchy especially mid engine cars, it actually felt a lot like the early physics when the game first came out, I struggled with it massively today and still need to workout if its just me and I need to relearn the game to a degree, or if the new game physics are broken, it's almost like we when through all this when the game first came out, and yet here we are again!

I found it easier to drift as you can initiate a drift more gradually and hold the angle indefinitely. Lift off transitions aren’t as snappy as before.

the update changed the suspension settings on all 380 of my cars handling is now choppy and too bouncy, I have only readjusted a few though because Poly might tweak it for the next "known issues" fixes they shouldnt have messed with it considering the game is over 2 yrs old smh

It's not just you as far as Sophy, goes. I've noticed in the last few months, it's become very aggressive and will ram you off the track. I hope PD is not taking data from daily races (MP) and integrating it into Sophy like Forza claimed to do with the Drivatar system? We don't need AI mimicking 12-year old rammers in single player. We need them to drive at least, like semi-professionals who respect race craft and not casuals looking for a demolition derby.

I don’t like the new physics and tires model, and no it’s not subtle, it’s noticeable. Cars tends to understeer, less grip, tends to drift under heavy braking and less stable in general. I’ve tried different cars on different tracks and surfaces and they all feel worse than before. However the changes seem to affect some cars more than the others.

not a fan of the physics feels like its ruined the natural self steer and steering dynamics pre update , and everytime you even lower a car by 5mm it catches on the arches and bottoms out. other than that its a good update, i just wish they’d stop fucking with the physics every couple months

The new physics update has destroyed GT7 for me! I like drifting and have only tested half of my drift cars and can't manage to drift a clean lap! Which wasn't a problem before! The tires now have lousy grip for me, the load change depending on the weight of the car can no longer be calculated correctly. The tires are very sensitive to feedback from the steering wheel, as if I had balloon tires on them! How can you destroy such an awesome game like this!
