DC vs Marvel or Marvel vs DC... Does it really matter when there are so many new comics this week and the next ? Nope. Hi Bueller - while I’m generally not a fan of whatnot I don’t believe any single app platform or what have you will denigrate the hobby. At the end of the day it’s another opportunity to put books people want in the hands that want them.

Whatnot is good for the comic book industry if not only for the sole existence of $1 start shows. It’s an economically friendly way for people to buy some issues to a series that they’re somewhat interested, but that are not typically in dollar bins are their local shop. The fact is, lots of people are trying out series that they most likely would never have bought an issue of if the series couldn’t be found in a dollar bin. Additionally, $1 start shows have created a huge opportunity for people to get rid of comics that hardly anyone at all is interested in, but that somebody with a spare buck on whatnot might say “fuck it let’s check it out” to. In the case that someone discovers a new series that they love, well then that means more business for sellers outside of whatnot. Because barely anyone (if ANYONE) has the patience to read a series while relying on only Whatnot as their sole source of comics.

WhatNot has personally brought me back into the comic scene when I bought a signed Last Ronin #1. And now I buy and sell comics, video games, and toys I used to have or dream of having as a kid. While you may not get TOP dollar for every thing you sell on there, the interaction with your viewers and the fun going down the Nostalgia rabbit hole with others is immeasurable. The business/personal relationships I've forged with sellers like myself give a sense of belonging sorely missed in my household where I'm just "the nerd." I like to say that "It's not a Competition it's a Community"

Coffee and comics! So great. I’m not really a huge whatnot fan honestly, but I like advancing the community in ways that keeps it current. Sometimes it seems like as we age, we don’t accept new things. If it reaches new generations though that is important. I think that comics will always cater in ways to original readers, but if it doesn’t evolve in some ways it will die. You have to accept the new to keep the old or even the hobby. Thanks guys.

At one time I was a very small whatnot seller. I think it has hurt the comic industry because while I struggled to grow on there, and losing on 95 percent of every book I sold, other groups of channels would sell the exact same books for at least 10 times what I sold them for. The shitty whatnot covers that they would get comp would also sell for a bunch. So I don't even go on there anymore. I have to figure out another way to sell my comics and graphic novels. Big fan of Whatnot. It has helped me fill in some issues in runs within my PC that I was really in need of. I must say I have taken joy in knowing that some of the sellers I purchased from were comic shops. I would be remiss is it did not say you do need to be careful when shopping Whatnot cause you run the risk of over paying for a issue simply because of the rush one gets when we win like when we gamble.

I have mixed feelings about WhatNot. On one hand, it does offer another platform to buy comics and other collectibles and there are many sellers on there. You can get some great deals if you participate actively. However, I think that in a greater scale the platform is actually hurting the comics industry. Suddenly, purchasing comics becomes a fast-paced environment with auctions and prices sky-rocketing way over value for some books. What's worse is that some sellers use this to actually inflate prices on other platforms. In reality, this constant biding and noise is creating a frenzy that can make you feel excluded, or give you the fear of missing out, if you are into it for the storytelling and art...

The only thing that is hurting the comic book industry at this point are the companies themselves, especially the big two. Subpar art with crappy stories pushing agendas that the majority of comic book readers couldn’t give a crap about. When will they learn?

I think WhatNot is good for what it is- a online store, but bad for what it's trying to be-A online community that RU-vid traditionally is.

Hi bueller. I live in a very rural area and whatnot has been amazing and most people without a local comic shop would agree. Lucky for me asylum comics in el paso has been amazing and let me call in and do my pull list but I live in artesia new Mexico their isn't a comic shop for hundreds of miles so whatnot is amazing when you live so far away from any comic shop. That said support local comic shops i still get a lot of my stuff from comic shops when I can

Whatnot might be ok for American buyers and sellers, but not worth it for international. Everything is priced in US currency, shipping is about $20 to ship to Canada from US ($15 if staying in Canada).

Whatnot has helped me and others as returning collectors to find series that were never finished since local shops may not carry them. I continue to find it helpful if focused on finishing a collection or a new series without straying. BUT, it is a huge HURT to new collectors or those that are not aware of prices/value and unknowingly pay more. I find few sellers that try to honor the buyer w/o trying to influence them to pay more. Whatnot at your own risk.

Whatnot, I have been lucky with some good books for a great price, but sometimes you gotta pay the price for something that nobody else has. I think it’s a help to get good price book.

Straight to see the coffee and comments coming back I don't really know much about what not I hear you say a while ago that comic book stores that have to close their doors because they did not have whatnot that's an interesting comment is that still true I wonder nice to see Bob again and I hope that you're enjoying invincible is he still interested in Planet of the Apes and is he reading Beware of the Planet of the Apes

It’s an app where sellers run live streams of them showing a product and then running it for a 5-30 second live bidding war. You can get some crazy deals on there, but you can also easily overpay when you get caught up in the excitement / FOMO. Try to have a way to check eBay prices (preferably “sold” prices) while you’re in a seller’s stream, using screenshots + eBay’s “search by image” feature. I would personally check the “sold” prices every time, but I usually don’t because you have literally 20-30 seconds to do so, if you’re lucky. Anything less than 20 seconds…forget about it.

whatnot is a scam! it wasnt built correctly and is open to sellers rigging all sales without anybody knowing. i seen plenty of comics go over price because it feeds off peoples bad habits alot of people have gambling problems and such and this ignites it even more......i neveer ever use it at all and i hope it crashes as soon as possible. not to mention they play favortism with bigger names such as dirty nerdy girl and comic uncle tom
