So Joola's similarity paddles submitted for approval weren't actually similar, they had extra foam, and therefore weren't approved. Full stop. It's not nearly as one sided against USAP as Jill suggests.

USAP is allowed to change the standard and testing according to the note section of equipment handbook

100%. It's not any different than any sport. Equipment manufacturers take a risk by pusing the limits. Joolas risk didn't pay off. Oops. Lol.

3:50 Pretty sure what happened with Ronbus and Vatic failed the new coefficent of restitution test. But the issue is, they were approved BEFORE that test was even a thing. So you would think they would be legal for 18 months, per USAP equipment rules. I think USAP is in some hot water.

I bought a Joola Gen 3 Scorpeus and at first loved the paddle. However, after about a month of use, the paddle sound changed to a loud, deep noise. I reached out to Joola, but nobody answered my phone call or email. I wasn't sure what the noise change meant, so during all the Joola drama, I returned the paddle to the seller.

As of today, the Ronbus is still on the approved paddle list. Say what you want about right or wrong, but if a player shows up to a sanctioned event, he’s within his right to play with that paddle. Just pull up the list and show it’s on there. 🤷🏻‍♂️

7:30 Jill comments on “it’s what the consumer wants” referring to Joolas paddles. That’s misleading though. The consumer will always want a product that out performs all others.. that’s a given. It doesn’t mean is a good decision to have those out in the market

if a paddle sells out then thats what consumers want. i dont find this controversial. lets face it people enjoy the power game. if finesse was what people wanted then control paddles will sell out. Also power in the pro game is really fun to watch and keep people engaged.

Lol. Kinda funny, Jill seems to show the opinion that, "Well, the thousands of paddles have the USAP approval stamp, so USAP is gonna have to pay." Joola screwed up, they supplied "Non-similar" paddles to be approved. Whether on purpose or not, Joola screwed up. It's on them. And USAP has every right to change paddles standards and request resubmission to any manufacturer if they feel its out of the new standards.

While it is good to have regulations on paddle speed, we need to keep in mind that it is the nature of the sport. Pickleball actually encourages players to get to the NVZ lines as quickly as possible and bang at each other until one side cannot return or make error. If safety is a concern, perhaps we should double the size of the NVZ area and encourage players to rally from the baseline instead?

Faulty logic. The nature of the sport…every sport has rules and equipment regulations to keep the spirit but mind safety. The uproar at the superbowl over ball air fill giving advantage. Olympic swimsuits being made of a new material giving advantage. Boxers gloves are checked. Seriously every single sport. Safety is an issue in pickleball that is not being addressed and it is going to need to be forced. Bare minimum eyewear needs to be required particularly if paddles testing twice as fast are going to be allowed. Every sport governing body has a responsibility to protect the athletes. They should have never approved them in the first place. Now the issue is no longer about safety and advantage but about money. 😢😢😢

In the original design of pickleball, the court and rules were designed for use with wooden paddles and softer pickle balls. Both are now more sophisticated, and yet the court design has stayed the same.
