As a contributer to OpenAPS (where every open source loop is based on) I can say, the algorithm between 1 and 3 is except the SMB not that different ;) Tidepool should produce good results!
The adhesive is great. Compared to G6, I have not lost one single sensor since I switched 8 months ago. No allergy, no rash, no coming off. Used the overpatch only once, to test.
The smaller patch lets the applicator be smaller. I wouldn’t mind a larger applicator but I manage to get the overlay on just fine and add skin-tac to make sure it stays down.
I've been type 1 since 1981 and I will be 60 this October ...... if stem cell can cure me I'm all in. Me and my only sibling (sister) who was diagnosed at 14 myself at 15 have had T1D for over 40 yrs....sadly my sister suffered ischemic and hemorrhagic conversion in February this year.....stroke was the furthest from our minds .... we think alike (Irish twins) .... to be cured of T1D would be a blessing for both of us and many others.
I have had T1 51 years today and have heard every year that a cure will be here in 10 yrs. It is a $$$ disease. But I have been DIY Looping since 3/4/24 and my A1C went from a 5.5 to 5.8, so disappointed. I think my body requires more basal then bolus insulin and all the AID's use bolus/ correction then basal. I also tried Omnipod 5 which was a disaster for me. I plan to go back to Dash and PDM tomorrow for a few weeks to get my settings back down and retry but it hasn’t been easy to get control back. Also I wish pump manufacturers would create a pump for those of us who only use less then 20 total units per day. I waste so much insulin even using 50 units per 3 days. Great video Justin! @@Osamah82 I don’t eat carbs. I was on Keto with no more then 30 grams per day but switched to carnivore last November. I have always been insulin sensitive so that means I can take less insulin. I eat clean meaning, no junk or ultra processed foods which cause inflammation.
What was your issue with the omnipod ? I’m 26 have had t1 since I was 6 so 20 years now … have used pens for over 10 years after mixing and injecting . My doctor recently put me on the dexcom g7 and ordered a omnipod for me to try , my a1c is 7.9 and I eat extremely healthy and exercise everyday ( 2 years ago my a1c average was 5.9)
@@Jameshoover753 it’s the target settings. I have lower targets then the AID's. I keep mine 80-120. I keep normal blood sugars and my A1C is also normal, which is in the 5's. I was so out of range with O5 and that’s what causes complications. It’s all in what you want for the best health. Everyone is different.
I am a Nurse Practitioner treating diabetes in patients with cancer and I also have type 1 diabetes and with Dexcom G7 I have had many sensor failed with insertion versus G6 never had problems and have encountered issues with Dexcom Customer service so I don't want my patients to experience that so I have greatly decreased prescribing that. I use to prescribe more dexcom than Libre but now it is the reverse.
I just started G7 and the Mobi. I am still questioning the Mobi, but so far have not had issues with G7. I wear it on my stomach even though I don't tell them that. 🤣 Love your channel! I don't think there will ever be a cure for T1D!!! I have been diabetic for 46 years!!!
It's interesting as in the UK and Europe the G7 - and all other Dexcom sensors - are approved for both Arm and Stomach use. So, you'll be fine using it on your Stomach I think. 🙂
Do you ever get erratic data during the first 12-24 hours? How do you fix it? I had to calibrate mine 4 times during the first 24 hours in order to get it to read within 20 points of my glucose monitor. Readings were all over the place this time. And I know my sugar was more stable because I was in a fasted state, not stressed and had not exercised yet.
Like you, I have heard "A cure is within 5 years" and I have been a Type 1 for 50 years. I started on insulin where the only decision you had was whether it was pork of beef based to accommodate allergies. Now I use a G7 CGM and T:Slim and my last A1C was 5.7. in 5 decades, I have experienced the improved quality of insulin and devices has been amazing toward the cuase. Regardless, I think they will find better treatments and hopefully a cure. For me, it will provide a sense of freedom and prolong life but it will not address the side effects of being diabetic for so long. I hope they find a cure to help the future generation so they can live their life to the fullest.
40+ years. The cure has been 5 years away for each of those years. That said, I think Vertex’s approach of protecting functional beta cells (the next phase of the study) to eliminate the need for immunosuppressant drugs has promise. I have been waiting (longer than 5 years!!!) for this study phase to roll around. I am cautiously (very very) optimistic.
The ‘cure’ you mention shows promise. But 12 participants isn’t anywhere large enough for this to be made available by 2030. I’d be surprised if it would get approval by 2040. It’s such a long approval process. At 75 years old I won’t see it but glad the progress is being made. Diagnosed in 1968 and heard the ‘cure coming soon’ song over and over again.
I'm not diabetic myself, just someone who's fairly read up on it (and very nearly went for a degree on the subject, but didn't because I felt it was too much time of studies for a nurse salary) My dad was diagnosed with type 2 in 2020 (type 2 runs in the family, and I wouldn't be surprised if it will hit me as well eventually) and he's been on tablets since for his diabetes and have had to change medicines several times due to kidney concerns. He just spent a couple of weeks in the hospital for an infection, and while in hospital they started monitoring his glucose levels more and also added insulin which was supposed to be temporary unless me and mum had intervened and pointed out that it looked like dad is feeling better and finally had an appetite again, so it looks like it would be good for him to continue with insulin as a complement or replacement. Said and done, he's now on insulin as well, NPH type (was honestly hoping for Lantus or some similar type of modern long acting, but at least it's a start) He's only been home from the hospital for a couple of days now and we have a lot of care staff coming over to help him (he's 77) and we have a nurse looking after him from time to time as well. I mention to the nurse that a Libre could be good for dad as it would make the monitoring easier both on him, us loved ones and the care staff as it would mean just changing the sensor with many days between instead of poking his fingers several times per day. Libre would be both safer and more comfortable! (Less pain for dad, less risk of accidental needle incidents for care staff, plus the bonus of continuous monitoring) I didn't even suggest Dexcom to the nurse, I just think the later Libre versions seem a lot better in many ways, along with Libre being a lot less expensive both initially and in the long run vs Dexcom. In the early days of Libre, a Dexcom may have been preferred, but now with the new functions of Libre, Libre looks like the better option for a lot of people, especially if they don't have an insulin pump that works only with a specific CGM system. As for a cure for type 1, if I lived with type 1, I'd probably not take a cure tbh. At this point in time, a cure means having to go onto immunosuppressant medicines which all comes with their own risks and a myriad of side effects, if I had to choose between taking insulin and managing my glucose levels, or take medicines that would make my immune system weaker and potentially affect other organs etc, I'd stick with the insulin even with all the job it means to manage diabetes. It just feels like the lesser of two evils, especially today when there's so much technological advancement in diabetes care and insulin that better mimics a functioning pancreas. It's possible I would have thought differently about it in the days before modern insulins (like Lantus and Novorapid), CGM systems and pumps with CGM communication. If I had type 1, it's not unlikely that I'd either be on MDI with a Libre, or use a Medtronic 780 system, or a T:slim with Dexcom, they all just feel like safer options compared to taking anti-rejection drugs. I do hope though that there one day will be a cure for diabetes that does not require anti-rejection drugs, because those drugs are just outright scary (though a necessary evil for people who've had to have organ transplants to live) Just my thoughts as someone not living with it, but having a somewhat good understanding of the condition and its management

The G7 3-strikes replacement policy is a problem when facing necessary medical procedures. My wife is a T1D and uses the Dexcom G7. In the past year she had to have 4 MRIs for various reasons. She had to remove her CGM 3 times. Had the new policy been in effect she’d have been out of luck and stressed over possibly needing a 4th replacement. This in addition to failed sensors. Dexcom should clarify their policy regarding this issue. Love your videos, they are super informative 👍
Dexcom is heartless. Does anyone know if they make exceptions? I have a Mobi and can’t wait to be compatible with Freestyle 3. Johnson & Johnson is much more sympatico. Dexcom needs more T1D’s working for them!

For a cure the question is not if it's when. The more interesting question though is if a cure came out when you would get it. Unless they come up with another solution you will need to take antirejection medication with that. If I recall correctly you need to get monthly blood draws to make sure the level of the antirejection drug in your blood is not too high. Some do very well on antirejection medication, and some have side effects that don't seem much better than the original disease. I'm wondering if the quality and convince of future pump and insulin technology will excel past the first functional cure. So that when the cure arrives that most people ironically won't get the cure because it is just less risky to stay on your hyper fast insulin/glucagon AID fully automated insulin pump with integrated non-invasive CGM and 7-day wear time.
Jaded by thought of a "cure". If a "cure" means immunosuppression, not a chance in hell I'm going for that. A study that affected 12 is way to small to get my hopes up plus how many years until it would be covered by insurance. Nope, not even gonna think about to only get repeatedly disappointed.
I have LADA. I went from InPen to the Cequr Simplicity Patches, and I loved the convenience and the fewer pokes! If I hadn't learned about Afrezza, I would still be using them today! I am so very grateful for all the incredible engineers and researchers who are giving us so many options for diabetes care and thank YOU for your channel! At every appointment I introduce my doc to new tech because of you!
Sorry…. Am learning…. What is LADA? I am not diabetic yet but my body has been heading that direction even though I exercise regularly and am eating a very clean diet, low in carbs, etc.
@@sheila7814 LADA stands for Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults. It is adult onset Type 1, but often is misdiagnosed as Type 2 at first. I suffered with gestational diabetes, then was misdiagnosed with Type 2 and finally was tested for the antibodies for Type 1. Been on insulin ever since! It's wonderful to have the tools to manage my blood sugar now! Good luck to you in your health journey! ❤️
My only issue with my G7 it seems (at times, grossly) inaccurate for the first 24 hours. I don't have any connection issues or adhesive issues. Will be going on Omnipod 5 soon (first pump ever, T1D for 42 years). My A1C is 6.1, but have had 4 very severe (like pass out) lows and just can't put my family (or dogs) through that any longer. Totally relied on your videos when deciding on which pump to start with.
Question: with an A1C 6.1 are you pre-diabetic? Do they prescribe insulin pumps for people who are at a value of 6.1? I am at the same place but have not had severe lows except for maybe twice but I didn’t feel all that bad. I have only been researching this for the last three months. I still have so much to learn. My doc said no meds until above 6.5 for A1C
About 7 years ago there was a study in the UK in conjunction with the University of Miami (I think) with Beta cells that showed promise. There were paitents, that were recently diagnosed, that showed no reliance on outside insulin. Maybe this is an extension of that study? There was an issue with where to transplant of the Beta cells that would be effective for patients who had been diagnosed for longer than 5 years.
I enjoy watching your videos. I have been Type 1 for 34 years and on the pump for 24 of those 34. I am 52 years old. I had to start wearing the G7 on my stomach due to constantly losing connection with it on my arm. Wearing it on my stomach I very rarely lose connection. On my arm. I always lost connection. I do not care for the new replacement policy. It is not the fault of the consumer when the sensor falls off. I understand a needed policy but this one may result in a patient not having a sensor to wear until there insurance RX is ready for refill. Keep up the great work. If Medtronic would improve their sensors, I would switch from the Tslim back to the Medtronic pump.
Medtronic CGM is just garbage. I used it for almost 18months and it was normal for 1 sensor a month to fail after initial calibration. With the 3 per year replacement policy, it was way too much out of pocket to use clearly defective products. Sadly, I have an older Tandem pump and I wasn't able to update the pump to use G7. So I am using G7 with my newer Medtronic pump in "dumb" mod.
Medtronic has a new sensor, Simplera, coming out - I have more vids on here if you want to learn more! Much better application, size and stays on well.
@@diabe_tech it wasn't the size and I never had a sensor come unstuck. It was just the sheer number of sensors that failed to work after the warmup and calibration. Won't ever go back to a Medtronic CGM ever!
At the JDRF One Walk in Minneapolis in May, I spoke to the Abbott tent about the 3plus and they told me that they were working with Tandem to get it working with Mobi and it shouldn’t be too much longer before they are compatible. It can be frustrating getting so different information depending on who you talk to.
I’ve been talking to a tandem prep. Maybe the end of the year or early next year for the Libre 3 plus. I can’t use Dexcom cuz of severe skin allergies.
I wear my G7 on my inner thigh. It never falls off, since it doesn’t bump anything, and there is never a “pressure low”. As for replacing sensors due to medical procedures, I think it’s something insurance should take up, not the sensor manufacturer. By the way, I wear both a G7 and a Libre 3. As someone using MDI not a pump, I love wearing two different sensors. If you can afford it, it’s worth it!
I am the father of a 9 year old who is was diagnosed with T1D 9 months ago. We started with the Libre 3 and Abbott replaced every sensor that failed or fell off. Just switched to the Dexcom G7 to work with the Tandem Mobi. I am concerned about the limit of 3 replacements for fall offs. The biggest advantage of the replacements with the Libre 3 was that they would replace it if it fell off with only a few days left. This allowed us to get ahead and not have to worry about not having a spare on hand if we experienced a failure or a fall off on that last one of the 1 month supply. If I could make some wishes for how the CGM companies provide replacements, I would love to see them offer a curtesy spare (or 2) up front before it becomes critical and you have to wait 3 days to have one shipped out. Once you have lost a few and know what you are dealing with, there are plenty of overpatch options on the market. I can't blame the company for not handing out a 10 day replacement for every sensor that falls off when there was only 2 days left on its life. Perhaps they could prorate additional replacements based on days lost? In many cases, they have to data to know how many days a sensor last.
I always use liquid Skin-Tac which I put on the adhesive part of my CGM before putting my CGM on. Let it dry before applying the CGM to the skin. My sensors always stay secure
Really like your channel I’ve been diabetic now since the age of 21 so that would be 42 years now with type one diabetes. iIn 2012 I was cured at University San Francisco medical center with an Islet cell replacement and that worked for about four years. I honestly believe that there is too much money in diabetic supplies for a cure to come along expeditiously. I honestly hope it comes along, but I’ve been hearing that now for close to 35 years?
Regarding the 3 replacements for accidents, I don’t have a problem with that. Yes, I have hit my arm on the doorframe, but I have also taught myself to be more careful. I don’t think medical procedures should be in this 3 replacements, but if I know I am getting a procedure where I have to take it off, I accept it. My auto-refill for sensors is less than every 90 days (it seems to be as soon as my insurance is willing to pay) so eventually I have a few extra sensors I can use. I tell anyone who will listen to check out mail order pharmacy prices over in-store pick-up for expensive items. I get mail order for a LOT less than in-store for expensive items like sensors and some meds.
I’m all about mail order, but not everyone has the option. Some people can only get 30 days at a time which is crazy to me. I’m happy having a 90 day supply (and a little extra over time as well).
Regarding your comments on Dexcom limiting to 3 the number of sensors they will replace in a year. That prompted me to investigate changing my Tandem pump to the Abbott Freestyle Libre 2 Plus. I would be happy to ditch Dexcom.

Thank you for another great video 😊 I’m T1D nearly 40 years - I’ve given up hoping for a cure. Mostly I would like Dexcom G7 to come to Australia and I would love the Tandem Mobi to come to Australia xxxxxx my fingers for that
the rapid re-connect is amazing. My son is 5 and I will set the phone down in the room he is playing in and if he moves away from it and it goes off I can walk it to him and it will immediately reconnect rather than having to wait for the next reading which is HUGE. The old adhesive stayed on my son far better (and we use glucomart overlays but have had 2 fall off on day 9). I do think the 3 strike polocy is a bit much. I understand them having some restriction on it but I think midigating cercomstances should be taken. My son is like I said 5, but he is also autistic, I am lucky that he does not mess with his G7 but I know of a lot of young T1 audtistic kids and just very young kids that will rip them off, those should not count against them. I feel them being able to know if the sensor is reading (like because if it is out of your skin it is not reading) then the data should exist and they would know if your telling the truth about it being on your body and working or not. Maybe they could put it to if you have enough sensors to cover (so like you get x amount of sensors for your perscription, then one falls off, they replace it, this happens a few times and you now have enough for a full month, well they should know that and then know you wouldn't actually need a new sensor then, but if you had them all off in a way that they would not last then they should replace no questions asked. I hope that makes sense)
I've been a diabetic for right at 50 years on MDI, -16 years when I had a kidney and pancreas transplant which eliminated the diabetes. I had to get another kidney transplant and so now I'm back on MDI since 2007. I was always told to eat what you want just cover it with insulin, which I did, and have been blind For 30 years because of that. I'm wondering if any of the insulin pumps would be usable by the blind. If they have an app for the iPhone, they might, but I just don't know what all is involved since I've never used a pump before. My A-1 seven usually runs between 7.6 and 7.8 which is not good enough for my kidney doctor. I also wondered if you saw anything at the conference about the Ilet Bionic Pancreas? Thanks for sharing your story and for your question. I’m unsure about which pump would be best for you, but there is the tandem Mobi and tslim, which has an app and Omnipod 5 is about to have an iPhone app as well. It’s possible that one of these could be an option for you!
I too am 100% blind and can confirm that the T Slim Moby with Dexcom G6 or seven works extremely well! Voiceover interacts, and enables complete configuration and quality audible output
The other day I was due to change my Dexcom sensor and upon taking the old one off it was just hanging loosely on my arm. When I go into our hot tub I completely cover it with a waterproof bandage.
I would actually use that 2 click pump. I'm T1, but I eat very low carb so I don't need a lot of insulin and it would be great to use in the middle of the night if I go too high, but also just tooling around town. I've never been interested in traditional pumps because they seem like overkill for someone like me, but that thing looks cool. Also the overnight one. I like that there seem to be other options besides a full blown pump!

I started with Libre 1 with abbot pump, and than Libre 2 with Omnipod.And now a year Medtronic 780G with Guardian 4 CGM. The bets I ever had. Im waiting for the new CGM, because the Guardian 4 is very big compared to the other CGM's. The sensor work perfect, but only one week. But the fact that the CGM communicates with the pump work very good for me! A cure? I hope!
I have same issue as you do with the new over patches for G7. G6 stayed on much better. I had to purchase different over patches from Amazon which annoyed me due to price you pay for the sensor. The Dexcom over patch did not last the full time resulting in my sensor disconnecting and failing early.
in my experience, there are 2 main reasons the G7 falls off; all the things that can catch it on the side, and the patient failing to give the sticker a 10 second rub. Still, every once in a while I have a week where in 3 days it gets knocked off 4 times. Teaching kids and being a guy, people are physically rough with me. Kids pick at the sensor if they see it, reaching under things often gets the sensor caught, rescuing kids from their own poor decisions often costs me a sensor, travel often costs me a sensor. If Dexcom is wondering why this is, its because I'm very broad-chested and my arms, shoulders, and torso are constantly abraded. I haven't asked Dexcom for much, but 3/yr is too little. Also, please send my sensors with less paperwork, extra over-patches, and no gloss/no print brown boxes.
Hmm, how recent is the G7 signal improvement? I just finished my first G7 after being on G6 for years and the G7 signal was really bad. When cycling with G7 on abdomen and phone in my jersey pocket, it loses connection nearly 100% of the time. It’s insane, when the two are literally 6 inches apart, just around my torso. I have to ride with the phone in my hand for several minutes until it reconnects, and of course the Lock Screen widget is seemingly broken on iOS 17 so the whole thing is pretty dicey when cycling.

Justin, Apple Watch videos state that they do not give blood glucose info so why does my iPhone13/DexcomG7 show a “Direct to Watch” available connection? I’d like to buy an Apple Watch 10 when it comes out in September, but they state No BG info will be available.
first time here, excellent content. i always use Smith+Nephew I.V. PREP Antiseptic Wipes for the Dexcom G6 and it helps make sure my sensor remains on for ten days. an amazing adhesive in addition to the adhesion they provide. kind of like more glue for the glue. i live in the tropics, surf, paddle board, etc. always sweating in the tropics. I can go a year or two w/o losing my G6 via falling off. What is your feeling about using IV prep swabs for the G6 and now the G7? I never use the iv swabs for the Omnipod b/c i have to remove the pump after 3 days and 8 hours and they really don't need the extra help. But the ten days for the Dexcom really needs the extra glue.
I'm going to try the "Libre", as a free sample, but after that it is going to be too expensive for me to continue using it. I think that the concept is great and much better than the strips, but for now it is too expensive.
I know that Apple for one is trying to research a way to to track blood sugar readings using their Apple Watch, if successful, this may lessen the need for CGMs
Being a father to a T1D -child i really hope for cure, but it might be a long time to come. In the meantime i'm looking forward orally taken insulin, even that would be a major ease . How do you find that?
Would a cgm bandaid help? Its round & made for cgm's. I use them & have had no problem with the cgm falling off. Sometimes the bandaid has to be replaced, but no big deal. Amazon & Temu both have them.
I just started with the G7 from the tandem Transmitter, etc. for me this has not been great! Unless I SOMEHOW get the pump to stay close to the G7 ( strapping the pump to my clothes, etc. (still moves around) - my pump loses connection with the Sensor! Constant alarms. It’s on my arm (recommended)… however, one of the people that I called for help - had me move it to the upper buttocks! That was worse. I have type 1 & 2 Diabetes - so this is really important to me -- but can’t seem to get the right help - (had one nice girl @ Tandem) - Any ideas on how to secure the pump (within range of the Sensor?). Also concerned about constantly having the pump right by my breast - day after day! (Cancer causing?). Thanks for any help. Viki
Does the OP5 app have more functionality to the handset? My son just started on the pump and i was shocked to find out theres no way to tell it that that carbs dosed for werent finished (became ill, just changed your mind etc) so it knows to hold off for a while! Cant add food info or anything and its so limiting compared to the app we were using for MDI 😅 feels like a step backwards right now
I am waiting for Omnipod 5 to come out so excited. In the mean time I do have the omnipod dash but really bad control in manual mode...........so begining of sept meeting up with a diabetic clinic that is going to help me install and operate the loop system (Samsung user/BC Canada here) until I get the omnipod 5 system and app here in Canada. But until September I have to go back on my Medtronic 780G system as I have no control when not in automode. I don't remember how I use to be in good control without automode or with out an insulin pump How did I do it? Anyways always watch you love your information and interviews. Mike
I sure pray that there is a cure for this I would not want anyone I know and love to have to deal with the problems I've had with diabetes. Where would I get signed up to do some of the stem cell experiments. Or even to have an artificial pancreas transplant if that's a possibility. As I get older my diabetes is getting worse and harder to control. I was on the Ozmpic and that made such a difference but because I'm a type 1. My insurance will not pay for it.
About G7 I was working in 110 degree weather in California and had 2 in a row fail. The adhesive has gotten a lot better. Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with the heat
I live in TX….. was 105 yesterday. I don’t have an issue, but I cover mine with the provided overlay and then on top of that, I put a clear tegaderm patch 4x4. Stays on the full 10 days.

Question: Dex G7: Erratic data readings during the first 12-24 hours. How do you get these readings to stabilize faster so that the bad data does not end up ruining your overall data graphs?? With my last inserted G7, I had to calibrate 4 times until I finally got it to flow closer (within 20 points) to the BG monitor. Help….??? If someone knows any tricks……. Thank you in advance
I place the new sensor on right when the old G7 expires (but at the start of the 12 hour grace period) but do not switch over to get readings from the new sensor until the grace period is up. It gives the new sensor 12 hours to somehow acclimate and give accurate readings. Example: 10pm old sensor “expires” but still has 12 hr grace period left 10pm - insert new sensor but do NOT switch to using it on your phone/pdm/pump/watch 10am following day - switch over to new sensor and ditch the old one. You’ll see the new sensor backfill the last 12 hours of readings. For me - I can see the two readings start very far off from each other and as the 12 hour overlap progresses, the new sensor closes that gap until they are the same. A lot of people refer to it as soaking. Note: this won’t fix your data problem though because you’ll still have hours of bogus readings from the new sensor contributing to your CGM data.

I too believe there will be a cure, but I’m not sure when. I’m going to guess 15-20 years. I’ll be 80 in 20 years if I’m still around. I’d love to be be cured before then because I don’t want anyone having to help me with keeping care of my diabetes and as one gets older, daily activities get to be more difficult
I prefer the g6 goes on my tummy discreetly the tape its wider and stronger the fiesta and g7 on the arms at least me bump into a wall or something and comes out I just put on! And it can't be reapply so waist of money

Et même omnipod cinq qui est sorti de m'intéresse même pas, quand je vois qu'ils n'obtiennent pas de francs meilleurs résultats et que l'algorithme n'est pas aussi poussé que tslim pourtant sorti des années plutôt et toujours aussi indétrônable pour tant de diabétiques.
I think that CM will will put in the insulinepump. Dexcom and Abbott have to chose which insuline producer give the change that the pump and sensor have the best connecting. The algorithm is te next part how to use what is best. Then there are T1D who will have a tubeless pump. In the Neterlands you got FGM instead of CGM and think that better pumps, insuline, algorithmes and DIY loop is the way to get Diabetics in controle. I do not believe in this way. You have to what is the reason you got diabetics and understand what is the best for us to keep de bloodsugars in range. Let make is important than to hide between pumps CGM and algorritmes.
I would include medical procedures in the 3 replacements. I would allow for ONLY 3 replacements period not per year. I would drop users who abuse the policy.
I think the 3 sensor replacement policy is fair. In most instances, it’s not the fault of the sensor / adhesive that it comes off. I think the onus is on the patient to be more careful/wear over patches/use alternate sites so that the sensor stays on the full 10 days. If the adhesive doesn’t last because of sweat, water activities, hair growth, etc - I don’t think that’s dexcom’s fault and they shouldn’t need to replace for free. Even for medical procedures - I agree with another commenter who said that’s more of an insurance provider responsibility to replace than dexcom. 3 freebies for things that aren’t really the fault or control of dexcom is pretty nice of them. And for those that just aren’t compatible with the dexcom adhesive and it doesn’t stay on - that’s a serious bummer but after a few sensors you’d probably figure that out and either switch do a different sensor or find an over patch that works for you. It’s unfortunate that there can’t be different adhesive options for different patients but with all the competitors out there now, it’s just a matter of time before more pumps work with more sensors and the combinations available increase.
