If it already fit in your bed why not just add a little bump stop to stagger the bikes a few inches instead of cutting and re-welding the entire thing?
Didn’t want to force having to load left to right or right to left. They were already staggered a tad but found the bike rake is slightly different between manufacturers. Also wanted to do more welding!!!
