Hey Pete, I think I’ve done this for years! Whatever I sell I list more of.. it’s why I like to have a stash of inventory to pick from! I only just noticed my store pushes newly sold like items to the first page .. I share my store so I did notice that!! I had a vero yesterday and my sales stopped.. it was a picture a company said was theirs so I just deleted instead of changing it! A few hours later my sales came back but it was very upsetting & glad I have the second store.. so when my sales stopped the traffic was directed to my other small store.. I did get a sale so this is another bit of proof traffic is held up when something negative happens to a store! Thanks for your tips Pete.. always good to get reminders or new tips 👍

100% its only logical if you sold it once you will sell it again might not be as fast but you will sell it logical only states that and how i have done it for 25 years reselling full time if i sold it ill always pick it up if its within my Margins of what ill pay for my inventory (usually 10% of what im going to list it for)

So I checked my store items how you said. I sell everything but I do have a lot of each category like books, cds etc. I notice while looking at those first page items that it's my most viewed or watched items that show up. A little bit different for me. Such a mix really. I have noticed that if I list books I might have an older book sell, I list toys I have an older toy that sells, etc.

Very interesting. I'll have to go check it out on my store.

Makes sense to me. I mostly sell vintage stuff, with several different niches within that. I have a lot more stuff listed on Ebid than Ebay, because of the advantage when it comes to fees. That means that I've got loads of photos and descriptions stored for free on Ebid without having to take up disk space on my computer. So the next sale I make, I'm going to copy a bunch of listings that are in the same category from Ebid to Ebay and see how that works.

Ebid? Stop that foolishness.

The "Ebay experts" lie about the algo constantly. I've had posts deleted from Ebay groups on FB because I said that listing daily is crucial to making sales with the algo. Listing daily is paramount(for me at least). If I don't list at least 15-20 things daily my sales dry up majorly, no matter how many thousands of items I have listed. I will have to watch your green waves vids but I get the gist of what youre saying. I sold a few common items yesterday so I will list a few more of the same item today.

The biggest lie of reselling world. Listing daily will only grow your inventory. Do it long enough, and with 20k active items you'll struggle to get 20 sales a day. I've seen it many times. Even here, on youtube. Concentrate on selling, not on listing. I had a run of 11 months straight without listing a single item. My sales stayed consitsant troughout entire time. There's a video on my channel where I show the numbers.

@@justinbushaw it works to the point where your shop is full of items that dont sell. Then troubles begin.

Great work Pete. If someone buys an item and then opts to look at your other items would the algorithm show similar items to the purchase first?

I dont know that, unfortunately.

Pete i have to break it to you but just checked my eBay store front this does not work on an everything sellers store same thing like yours buying format :all listings Condition: any and Shipping and there is no ryhme or reason as to what ebay is showing under ALL items makes no sense as to what is coming up again best match is picking what is coming up there and if your Not niched down like you are its not going to have the same affect as it is for you as it is for someone like myself that Sells EVERYTHING and i mean Everything i have 15 different categories coming up in that section of the eBay store front again there is no rhyme or reason as to what items and from what categories these items are coming up for there are 12 rows of 4 items so the Best Match Algo is choicing for whatever reason to show these 48 items from 15 different categories

The question is: are your items similar to each other. And I don't mean if they are in the real life. Does algorithm sees them as similar to each other?

14:44 thats not eactly true a true everything seller that knows how to do everything selling correctly can amass 1000 like items so say you sell electronics then you go sub categories so say you sell cameras amass 1000 types of cameras digital and film and camera accessories, say you sell collectibles go sub categories you have a plethora of sub categories can get 1000 comic books, 1000 sports cards, 1000 non sports card in collectibles the list can go on and on 1000 post cards, Toys is the same way you have a pleather of sub categories you can amass like items 1000 or more action figures 1000 or more plush this is what you call Scaling its not about MONEY when scaling is involved you have to scale your business Inventory wise specially if your an everything seller. So being an everything seller that does Everything Selling the correct way and amasses 1000's of each categories and sub categories i sell in even with 1000's of like items this method still does not work as i mentioned in the comment below its shows 12 rows of 4 items so 48 items and 15 different categories so some are from the same categories at the minimum its 2 per category there showing for me

Absolutelly disagree. I can take those 1000 cameras, and make them looking super similar to each other in the eyes of algorithm, yet differentiate them for the buyer. If I'll take a pair of jeans, and a denim skirt, I can have 6 tp 8 keywords repeated in the title, and say 15 in item specifics. And algo will see them as similar, and after the sale of one, it'll push the other one. If I can select from item specifics: blue, denim, cotton, elastane, stretch, zip, pockets, mid rise, dark wash, casual, classic, modern and reinforce it with item specifics that I have to type in, as they're not there, like: belt loops, zip fly, back pockets They'll be very similar for the algorithm. Items don't have to be from the same category to be similar. I've sold 80% of my mustard yellow items in one week, and they were accross categories. I've sold dozen H&M items in one week, again across categories. From 15th of may till now, so less than a month, I have sold a-line dress on: 15.5 x2 16.5 x2 17.5 x2 18.5 19.5 20.5 22.5 25.5 26.5 27.5 x2 28.5 30.5 31.5 2.6 3.6 5.6 7.6 x2 Out of about 300 a-line dresses in my shop. On a very saturated market, where people go down to rock bottom prices, as they just want to get rid of them. This is not coincidence.

I sell vintage items, everything from jewellery, retro glassware, toys, pottery, fabrics etc, but have used your advice and worked out that by consistently using the 'Product Type' heading in Item Specifics I can use the same key words under that heading for similar category items. For example: * Vintage Retro Homewares and Collectibles* (which covers a large range of items in my store), or * Vintage Retro Toys, Games, Plush Toys, Computer Games*. I have been doing this consistently for every listing for the past 2 months and it is working! I have approx 10-12 such categories that I use for the 250-300 items in my store. I do not focus my time growing my shop's inventory and find this number of items manageable for me, as I too am a carer, and have found that my views and sales have increased. Thanks to your great suggestions, Pete.
