I have one and driving 130kmh from aouth France to Calais then 75mph from Folkstone to Scotland give 5.0 l/100km or 56 uk mpg. Reduce those speeds a little and it’s about 10% better. Don’t exceed 100kmh or 60mpg and under 4.0 l / 100km is possible!

Well, I bought it, and very impressed, very refined, especially once speeds are above 50 kph, very happy!

No, not seen anything like this. I have done 10'000km in 8 months. The engine is also much quieter than expected.

Around town, and a bit of country driving, engine not getting warm, 6.4l/100km. Done 1400km from France to Scotland on a Sunday. Very little traffic, average speed 106kmh, 15 hrs of driving, 5.0l/100kmh. About 1080km on one tank (47 liters).

All diesels dpf will block eventually especially if you do short journeys too often and eventually when things like thermostats etc start to stick open at higher mileages so the engine cant get warm enough to do a regen that then cause dpf to get blocked and other faults which can cause a dpf not to do a regen. If your doing short journeys dont buy a modern diesel with dpf it will eventually get blocked unless you get the dpf gutted and remapped to remove it i recommend choosing a brand with a longer warranty like kia/hyundai etc then at least if the dpf gets blocked you can get it done under warranty for free

Diesels normally make more torque then horsepower torque is more important then horsepower especially for diesels. For a little diesel motor like that, that's a decent number its not the same type of diesel as the other diesels Ford makes the EcoBlue which iss more economical and better for cars like the 1.5 , the 2.0 has more power though. The motors in the Powerstroke family which includes the Puma (3.2 dohc I5), Lion (3.0 v6) and the Scorpion (6.7 V8) are more for trucks and SUVs Ford hasnt put a diesel in their SUVs in the states but the 1.5 would be perfect for the ecosport and the 2.0 for the other crossover they have here. The I5 and v6 would be good for the other SUVs if they bring back the Excursion they could just use the 6.7 since originally the Excursion was based of the F250

It drives far better than a vw 1.5 tsi 150ps, believe me!

With the extra mileage you get wit hdiesel, it can in fact be cleaner than petrol. This is true for the newer systems. Of course not the old ones. There's a political hetz going on against diesel. It's bullshit.

I have only diesel cars! When i buy again a car, i buy diesel ONLY! Why? Ford focus 1.5 eat 4,2l diesel/100km.The 3 cylinder 1.0 petrol engine has really poor sound, and horspower but eat too much petrol 6,8-7,2l petrol/100km. And what about the engine life? The 3 cylinder engine has no life! Piston broke after 80 000km, turbo problems, valve problems after 95 456km. Buy a downsized petrol engine, and pay all your money for service. Thats the right change! The diesel focus 1.5 engine has no problems, if you service your car correctly.

@@JonasMF12 You are speaking about new cars. Let's compare 10-15 year old ones. Most petrol cars still have their emissions under control, whereas diesels become stinky and dirty. It's simply because proper maintenance for diesels is way more expensive (EGR, DPF etc.) and in old cars people tend to get rid of those elements. In petrol cars there are very few eco components (in fact only catalytic converter which is relatively cheap and for the new ones GPF which should be much more reliable that DPF). So even if today both petrol and diesel cars' emission is quite the same, it won't be the same during the whole lifecycle of the product. And this should be the reason to rethink our approach to which engines should be banned and which should be accepted.

@@Unknown36vpd The truth is that 1.0 EB had some issues at the beginning. But on the other hand just take a look at 0.9 TCe - no major problems, 250-300k km is possible to be reached without any repairs.
