Summer of 2003 and 2004 was the greatest years of my childhood. Sum41 and Good Charlotte I loved too. Then by mid 2000’s everything went emo punk and I hated it. I liked Paramore though
Same. I remember seeing this on VH1s late night music videos broadcast. I literally just hummed the "all downhill from here" bit on my Google song search l. I'm crying in closure right now. 😭😭😭
according to wikipedia the video is so crazy it was requested 50 times in a row, and they eventually had to retire it because people wouldn't stop requesting it. I was like 8 at the time but I certainly remember it playing more than once
You guys don't understand how happy I am right now. I've been looking for this song for 10 years and never new the exact words bc I was little but now that ive finally found this, its like one of my life goals has been accomplished and getting my heart broken doesn't seem so bad anymore now that i finally have this song in my life. Yea i love it that much it means everything to me lol
Holy shit, literally came here to say this! I remember being fascinated by this video one morning for school. I've been looking for it ever since. I am so fucking happy that I found it! Cheers!
It’s like when I heard the most beautiful opening riff and couldn’t find out what it was and it was to the point to where I thought maybe i had thought of the riff my damn self somehow but then one day I got in my car and it was on the radio and i was quick to Siri that shit and it was Fly from the inside by shinedown. The opening to that song is absolute 🔥
I met these guys when I was 13, me and my older brother were big fans and talked to them before a show in Philly in 2002. My brother wanted to talk to all the band members, I was a little more reserved and too nervous to talk to them. The guitarist Chad I think saw that and came up to me and and we talked about music, video games, and life, such a cool guy. He signed the CD I brought with me and my brother got a picture with the whole band. Great night, good guys in the band too, at least from my experience.
So many memories. The music for the late 90's/early 2000s holds a special place in my heart. For a second, I go back to those years when I listen to these songs. The pop culture, the friends, the situations we were in... everything comes back.
Dude I miss those days even tho im 12 I still remember every time I hear this song it brings bavk so many good memories and almost cry every time wish I was born in the 90 screw my generation
Damn I remember listening to this cd in my Sony Walkman cd player walking down the neighborhood, before ipod's got real big. That damn thing said skip prof but we all know the struggle with that.
SasukeKunDesu Where it said so? Rock music wiki? I do notice that good rock music songs do come from bands mostly in the eary 2000s instead of nowadays.
SasukeKunDesu Oh I see. I kind of agree, but there are various other articles online, which states that rock isn't in decline and still popular. I guess it isn't as mainstream or widely known as it used to be.
+Grant McCarty He was also talking about all their own music after Nothing Gold Can Stay. Overproduction and autotune ruined a band that had such a strong start. A shame, really.
TheGr8one1022 yeah that is very true. They just came out with a new album. For what reason, I'm not sure. They are far past their prime and I believe the only reason most people still listen to them is for pure teen nostalgia. But I just wish they had stuck with their original sound
I remember being a kid standing in the mall looking for a good pair of skate shoes, this video started playing on an overhead TV and I just stared totally transfixed. It led me down a rabbit hole of all kinds of cool bands and visuals, since then. Great memories of a simpler time.
I remember the premiere. It was June of 2004, summer break had just started. It was right around noon, I microwaved a bunch of Jose Ole taquitos and watched the video with my brother. MTV still had VJs and they hyped it up. I thought it was weird but I liked the song. That afternoon I went fishing, then there was a huge airsoft battle in my neighborhood, then I went ice skating that night, then I stayed up late watching anime on Adult Swim. Life was good. A few weeks later my brother showed me this really cool website called MySpace and I found out that a girl from my class liked NFG and the Used lol.
This song and album is almost 20 years old 😐 I was 15 when it was first aired on MTV and now im going to be 35 in a few days. I can appreciate this band now that i'm older.
Fucking love this song. Everything about it. From the misheard “Pikachu” line to the Quintin Tarantino vocalist, but I swear to god this whole song was recorded without a pop filter over the microphone.😂
Which phrase would you say fits you best 'I was born in the wrong generation/ decade' 'Main stream music doesn't fit my personal taste and Their for is wrong'
7 years ago this was posted. now we have so much restriction.... i guarantee that if a band like my chemical romance released welcome to the black parade they would of been sued, lost and found guilty of inciting either violence or suicide. today's world has become soft and moronic.
One of the lunch lady's at my middle school is the aunt of the singer. When this song came out she would look for literally anyone with a metal/punk/skater vibe and tell us about the band. She would tell everyone how her nephee wad on tv with his band. She was SO pround of him(as she should be). She's the reason I know who NFG is. Thank you ma'am. I'm sorry I don't remember your name, but I rmember your service.
New Found Glory has been, to date, the most awesome live show I've ever been to. Also, I was not expecting a full blown mosh pit but it happened lol. That's how much energy these guys have when performing live.
I was in highschool in backwoods Kentucky. Skateboarding, and dickies I hated life so bad. Going through horrible puppy love breakups I would put this on in headphones and see myself in warmer areas, playing in bands. Now I’m 34 a mechanic in the same backwoods, to this day I still put this on a visit those dreams. I miss these years.
This album WAS my 2004. Especially summer since it came out in May, I was in 9th grade transitioning to 10th aka perfect age for NFG. 16 years later, I'm 31 and will love NFG Forever + Ever × Infinity!
I remember when I was little I would listen to this song with my dad, I love it and when I got older it randomly came into my head I was trying to remember the song name and I just sang some of the lyrics that I remembered and I finally found it 😭
Wow, I'm seeing a lot of comments about how people were in high school when this song came out. I was 11 when it came out, I first saw this video as part of the TRL music video countdown. I haven't heard it since then, but I never forgot the chorus lol, and I just had to hear it again. Still a great song.
Lyrics You're hiding something, 'cause it's burning through your eyes I try to get it out but all I hear from you are lies I can tell you're going through the motions Figured you were writing out your part Once again we're playing off emotion Which one of us will burn until the end. Catalyst you exist to pull me down, You contradict the fact that you still want me around, And its all downhill from here, And its all downhill from here Your good intentions slowly turn to bitterness Reoccurring episodes with each and every kiss I can tell you're going through the motions Figured you were writing out your part Once again we're playing off emotions Which one of us will burn until the end. Catalyst you exist to pull me down, You contradict the fact that you still want me around, And its all downhill from here, And its all downhill from here I can't believe you pulled it off again I'm running till it all sets in You'll deny it till you're at your bitter end I can tell you're going through the motions Figured you were writing out your part Once again we're playing off emotions Which one of us will burn until the end. Catalyst you exist to pull me down, You contradict the fact that you still want me around, And its all downhill from here, And its all downhill from here Pulling me down pulling me down Catalyst you exist to pull me down, You contradict the fact that you still want me around, And its all downhill from here, And its all downhill from here
This song brings back memories. First song I've ever heard by NFG and from then on I became a fan. I didn't even know music like this existed it was just new and fresh and it just invigorated my soul. MTV2 don't have the same programs as they use to but if it wasn't for the Rock Countdown and the show Greatest Hits I never would have gotten into one of the greatest pop punk bands to ever exist.
When you hear certain songs in very strange parts of your life. They will never leave you. It was not nice times. But when I hear this one nowadays it makes me smile. Thank you for the power of music. Thank you A New Found Glory. ;)
