Back in the days "Gamo" mostly made you think of cheap, not-the-best break barrel air rifles etc.. But that era seemingly has passed. So many decent products out nowadays by Gamo. And Gamo seemingly even leads stuff forward - making other brands follow their example. Been hearing of other mag breakbarrels coming out, by other companies - but with seemingly not as good results (yet anyways). I would nowadays not hesitate to buy myself a Gamo air rilfe - even though many years ago I picked my Crosman brand break barrel over the Gamo brand..
New subscriber here JC, I enjoy your review the format you use Is very Informative and extremely thorough, It serves as a solid foundation to make an Informed decision when making a purchase!. I pulled the trigger and bought this rifle and I'm very pleased with my purchase. Your review was spot on! I'm also a retired LE Officer and was a Firearms Instructor and Dept Armorer. Thank you for your service!
Nice review as always JC. A nice looking moderately powered addition to Gamo's Swarm line up. Gamo should always offer a Mil-Dot AO scope with all their air rifles!
I agree, if they could offer a mildot with an AO that would be great. Although, I have to say, the stock scope will get you by, I have seen a lot worse from other manufacturers. Happy Shooting my friend👌🏼👍🏻
I agree 100% and would willingly pay an extra 50$ or so for a UTG 3-9, 3-12 or 4-16 side parallax scope. They only cost 130$ brand new or less, but with a contract for a bunch of them for a package deal....they could buy them for half of what we get charged and still make mad bank!
@@gmanneod8085 yes, I have tested it. There is a flaw in their design that underpowers the rifle and still gives a very heavy recoil. Shoots 14 gr pellet well under 700 FPS.
Hi JC, Gamo seems to be on the right track. After the gamo swarm magnum and bone collector. One more to deserve 5 stars. I like this new system of Gen3i. Good performance and looks. Great review JC and have a great weekend.
Hey JC, I always look forward to watching your videos. This Swarm Viper gen 3i in .22 looks cool, but I have yet to see anything on other color grip panels for customisation. Plus, I wish that all Gamo airguns would have back up sights. Other than that, I think it's a beautiful airgun. Great video review. Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.
If gamo would put a mil dot reticle in those scopes that would be a sweet entery level small game gun. Sling mounts would be nice too. 300 is too much tho.
I couldn't agree more. A mil-dot with an AO would be great. For an "included scope" they are using some decent quality glass already, so a little upgrade would be a game changer. Happy Shooting Buddy! 👍🏻😉
Ok - now watching your review. You can shoot. Many other reviewers of this gun made me think this gamo was not accurate since their shots were all over the place. You made it within a coin size. Like and sub’ed to your channel !
I appreciate you watch! The Gamo rifles have definitely improved over the last several years when it comes to accuracy. Also, you have to test many different pellets to determine the most accurate. Not sure how much effort other put into their reviews. I spend time working with the Airgun to provide the best performance. I appreciate you subscribing. 👍🏻
@@gmanneod8085 we haven't gotten snow yet all year long it's a bummer got some stuff in the queue waiting to be uploaded this Sunday I plan on testing slugs out of the arrow
Good video as always. Just bought the Magnum 3i which is also very accurate and I am shooting at 40 yards. The cocking for the Magnum is a little tough. But, I am working on beefing my cocking arm😜. GAMO is producing some nice air rifles.
I have a magnum 22. I bought it after my Bengiman vaporizer in 177. The Vaporizer is heavier but a much better feel when shooting. Debating their version in 22 caliber.
Nice review as always- the Swarm Viper is a little too expensive to be 5 stars in my book , That was why the Mach1 Fusion only got 4 stars if I remember correctly. I got my .22 Fusion for $219 on sale - well below the review price of around 300
It's on sale in a Christmas kit at Gamo for $199 with gun strap and a tin of pellets, there's a 10% off coupon too or free shipping code. All in for just a touch over $200 shipped even after buying an extra gen 3 magazine. You bascially have a Maxxim with Gen3i Swarm mags, which so far seems to be working flawlessly
I have the latest Gamo magnum after your review of it. This a great review too. You do a very good job. I have been looking for the Barracuda green and can't find them.
Hi Glen, I appreciate you tuning in and thank you for your comments. Happy Shooting!😉👍🏻 The Baracuda Green, they are hit and miss. If I find a link, I'll comeback and post it for you.
Nice gun but i don’t like the green part at the front of the magazine . Nice video again and yes i bought the hatsan 65 and i love that one .see ya greetings from holland 😉👍
Great name my man. Lol. I recently just purchased the Maxxim Gen 2. Seemed to me it was a better deal considerably seeing that they’re practically the same thing other than the gray inlays.
Hi JC, they are basically the same rifle, with the exception of the stock. I still have my original Swarm Maxxim, and it is still shooting strong. Thanks for tuning in and I appreciate you leaving comments. 👍🏻😉
I did get upset with Gamo when they stopped making the fixed barreled Accu .22 and Accu .177. Both where absolute tack drivers, they used a metal spring instead of an air spring. I would of liked for them to try using a air ram, not sure if that would of helped or hindered the already great accuracy. However, since the gun "only" put out around 14-15fpe, just a few lbs less then the viper. It was not hold sensitive at all and was not pellet picky. If one had a mil-dotted scope it was very easy to determine the hold over or hold under and had no problems with less then 1in groups out to 45 yards. It became my main go to gun by the door to take critters from starlings to raccoons. I quickly realized I didn't need high powered break barrels like my Hatsan 125, 135, Webley Patriot in .25 or .22cal, etc. To get the job done with half the power was completely humane and actually became more confident in taking 35-45 yard shots. It was nice knowing that if I didn't remember the exact hold, trigger finger placement the mid powered Accu .22 was far more forgiving then the higher kicking powerhouses. Unfortunately Gamo and other companies are guilty of over-emphasizing FPS and in reality FPS sells products, especially to first time buyers who don't know that power comes with negative side effects. Namely in the form of accuracy destroying recoil. Also, wear and tear over time on the gun itself and accessories. It would be nice if the manufacturers started a campaign on tuning the air pistons to what one is comfortable with. My Hatsan 125 has the ability to adjust the piston to increase or decrease power. Max power setting is 150bar, which equates to around 29fpe. Recoil as expected is harsh and one has to hold it exactly the same for every shot to be accurate. Easier said then done especially hunting and having to hold the gun in a non familiar position. One can decrease the ram pressure and cocking becomes easier, hold doesn't have to be as critical and groups tighten up. Unfortunately to change power settings one has to take the piston out and use a tool to reduce the piston pressure. And a high powered pump to add pressure. It would not be hard for manufacturers today to have it setup so, one can easily remove or add pressure without taking the piston out of the gun first. It could be done in the field if they made some easy design changes. Imagine just one gun and you can set the power from 12fpe to 30fpe, not require breaking the barrel down for each shot (a simple underlever would do), the barrel is always fixed so not subject to wear and tear. I know, I'm kinda describing a PCP airgun, but it is not. Anyways, I made a short story long......Bring back the Accu .22 and Accu .177.....
Great review and very cool rifle. The accuracy is impressive but your .57" group size seems to be missing shots 7 and 8 which are definitely well outside your measurement. Shot 7 is touching the outer 10 ring and 8 broke the 10 ring, almost halving it. If you're measuring the full 10 shot group it's definitely considerably larger than .57". Still impressive but definitely larger. I guess I missed the price but either way it looks like I need to save my pennies because I really like this one.
Dude... I like your videos! Question, you said this gun is backyard friendly. It registered 80dbs. I looked at a web site and they list it at 3-medium. What would a 2-medium sound like. And maybe you could demonstrate something, someday?
This is a really quiet rifle, especially when you shoot heavier pellets. Anything under 95dBA I would shoot in the backyard without hesitation. I appreciate you tuning in. 👍🏻😉
I really like the wildcat whisper, just has good feel for me, but cheapest they have..would really like to see review out of box and see what you come up with..then try better scope and make some improvements..thanks really appreciate your reviews
Would you try Daisy Hollow Point pellets in .22 caliber? The .177 version is shaped differently, and they may also be good but the .22 cal are definitely my favorite all around 15.4 grain go getters.
Hi Heath, I try all brands and styles of pellets searching for what performs best in the rifle I am testing. I actually spend hours behind the scenes. I don't think I have any daisy in .22 caliber. But, Daisy and Gamo are the same company, so odds are those pellets may perform well in that rifle😉👍🏻
@@AirgunDetectives Sir I am thinking that the DHP is the BASE pellet for the Gamo Red Fire but not sure. The deep V shaped hollow point would fit the plastic tip they use in the GRF.
I Love your reviews. I am getting one fore sure. Just can t decide between. 177 or .22.....since i already have thé bone collector gen2 and à bunch of weihrauch in .177
If I may go off topic I’d like to ask you if you have any info on the weirach 98. I’m thinking of purchasing it. So any good or bad would be appreciated. Thankyou. Kevin.
Hold on Kevin, I have two of the 98's and I will do a full review on them. I can tell you this. One of my absolute favorite break barrels. #staytunedforairgundetectives 👍🏻
@kevin Jeffrey the 98's are keepers, but I have a guy that can order you one at a good price, and he'll include a free tune with the purchase. Email me anytime, and I'll provide his info info@airgundetectives.com
I have a Gamo Swarm & a Whisper...both accurate but the safety inside the trigger guard is a poor design and an Air Rifle without an AO scope is almost useless...=)
I just ordered mine! I honestly thought you could load both .22 caliber bbs and .177 caliber pellets but I see now that theres 2 different versions. My question is, can this gun shoot .22 bbs and .22 pelletets or just pellets?
I just ordered your trigger screw cant wait to get it. I am having trouble with the first stage screw. I cant reach it. I cant fit a screw driver throught the tiny hole in the trigger guard. Any adivce?
Leave the first stage adjustment screw as is. It actually takes an Allen wrench, but they come all the way screwed in from the factory. You will replace the Philip's screw, behind the trigger blade, with my screw. All the instructions are included. But leave the first stage adjustment as is. 👍🏻😉
Thank you. I will. Your videos are fantastic. I tried the jts pellets. I have had the most consistent groupings with the 18grain and 16 grain. They are my go-to pellets. I got the viper after watching your reviews on the magnum and viper. I'm loving it. Thanks again.
Gamo are going to over the top with to many rifle styles in my view I think bullpup air shotgun with gamos highest power plant source would be the seller or create a new one . other than a pcp instead of the old Gamo viper extreme air shotty...I mean they got 1600fps plant why not upgrade a 1600fps for a bulpup style shotty . would be really head turner and seller cheers boss.
Have had mine a few months now. Was wondering how to make the trigger a lil easier to pull. Is it the screw that is right by the trigger that i need to lossin?
Hey detective, what would you say are the most accurate full-blowback bb air pistols you’ve ever shot, preferably without the “stick” style of magazine? I’m thinking about the Cz sp-01 shadow, but do you have any other suggestions? Thanks.
Like your videos,, I personaly have the GAMO Magnum .22 10x Gen 2. I would NOT buy any rifle that dont have open sights. No matter how careful you are, scopes can and will fail.
I don't believe the Speedster is available in the US. Different stocks and the Viper has the QE built in suppressor. The magazine loading system is definitely similar. Happy Shooting 👍🏻
Hello there I was wondering if you can help me,how to install the repeater on the gamo gen 3,my swarm magnum's one is not feeding pellets anymore,I got a new one from gamo already.
@Airgun Detectives-Airgun Reviews I can relate to that rain statement. Came a flood today. I'm at ~350', give or take a 100', but I'm getting 2-4 fpe less than you on any gun you review that I have. Mag gen3i .22 is at 25 fpe. Bone collector gen3i is 18 fpe, fusion mach 1 gen2 is 15 fpe, maxxim gen2 is 13 fpe. I don't get it. Been shooting h&n, AA, crosman, gamo, and jsb. It doesn't make sense to me. I also use 2 different chronys and they seem to be within 4 fps of each other so I can't say it's a possible chrony issue. Do you have any notions as to what it could be? I'm at a complete loss. Thank you for your time and response.
Don't try to buy another scope that is "AO". It will be too long and interfere with the cocking process. Don't try another scope such as a pikeneni as it will slide on the rail after each shot no matter how hard you tighten it down. I have gone through all that a couple years ago and was suggested what "AO" scopes to buy, by the customer service people at Gamo USA. I ended up sending them back and putting the original scope back on.
Nice looker and shooter. I have the older Gen 1 and it is not very accurate at all. The cocking mechanism is already broken too. I must say my experience with Gamo is that the older models are more reliable and accurate!
I have had Gamo rifles for years. My first one, as I showed a few weeks ago, Hunter 220, was outstanding. Then a few years after that model Gamo's accuracy appeared to fall off a bit. In the last couple of years, I have seen much better accuracy and overall improvement with the rifles. Thanks for watching 😉👍🏻
Definitely not a Magnum but a fun pinker that can be used for pest control and small game. The cocking effort is nothing so it's definitely an all-day shooter👍🏻😉
Then there are the typical Gamo haters. In fact, if it is not a expensive brand-named airgun (not going to mention names) they will hate it. I once out shoot a guy with his expensive electronic PCP with my Gamo Magnum and he was full of excuses. True, he had an off dayand myself a good day, but he did not like the fact that a Gamo beat him.
Gamo has really been upping their game, and the performance has shown that. They put out performing rifles that the average guy can afford. Happy Shooting 👍🏻
JC do a video on H&N hornet. With a avenger set om max hammer and regulater See what it will do to pegion and small game. I thinnk the Gamo magnum 17 and and 22 is the way to go. BUT FOR SOME CHUMP CHANGE MORE YOU GET A AVENGER BUT YOUR STUCK BUYING A AIR COMPRESSER
ITS JUST THE TWO TONE THATS NEW I DONT GET IT. I HAVE THAT SCOPE ,NOT BAD HOLDS GROUPING I USE IT TO SHOOT NAIGHBOR HOOD PIEGONS . DUDE H & N HORNET PELLETS. END OF STORY. LOL 25 CALIPER WATCH OUT
Is the Gamo dx basically the same as this gun? It looks the same just different colors and has the gen1 instead of gen3. I cant hardly find any info on the dx
