@@HowsItGrowing I loved that too. Rachel Maksy is a maker here on YT and she often sings “good enough” to the tune of Total Eclipse of the Heart (“turn around…”). That’s what I thought of. Cracks me up 😆
It's GREAT to see videos from you so far this season! The stenciled greenhouse floor is BEAUTIFUL and PERFECTLY BEAUTIFUL!!! The birdsong and your chimes are magical.
I love 💕 your pavers,it is just lovely and gives such a personal touch!!!!! Your green house is so cozy and a wonderful work space!!!!!!!! Your husband is a super special person, cherish him!!!!!! I enjoy your channel so much, I learn so much and get so many ideas, keep growing you are doing a wonderful and beautiful job ❤❤❤😊😊😊
I love the green, my favorite color. It’s so calming….it’s like your laying down a rug in the green house…I always get happy when you post. Your husband is a good man! I need a bubbler for my potting shed.
You’ve Got Mail is one of my favourite movies!!👏. The floor turned out great and everything else is beautiful. I’m watching this on May 18 th and it’s only 2 Celsius tonight so just hauled all my annuals in. Ah well that’s a zone 3 spring! 🇨🇦
The floor looks great! What a very clever idea...and cost effective. I love it. The garden is really looking beautiful, everything is waking up and very green and fresh. This time of year is lovely.
The stenciled tiles are beautiful! I'm inspired to do that on my walkway tiles. Thanks for mentioning Katy at the Manor. I went to her channel and subscribed. Thanks!
My husband put brick floors in my greenhouse. I asked him to make sure it wasn't perfect. I like the look of imperfections. Very nice greenhouse tfs. Cheers
Laura, love seeing videos from you. Watching the projects that you take on, or you and Mark take on together are so fun and inspiring to watch. The sink is amazing, the tile floor is amazing, and the whole greenhouse is so beautiful. From watching the two of you put it together piece by piece until now - what you have created - it’s hard to picture a time when it wasn’t there.
Hi Joette, this is incredibly kind. Thank you! 💜 it feels like that to me too. It’s weird to see photos when my old potting shed was there. I can’t imagine. Your support and nice comments mean so much to me. Thank you! Happy Saturday!
...oh Laura, this is AWEsome! The tiles are very innovative and they're almost like a throw rug in there! They fit your vibe perfectly. As Erin said, no "wonk" at all! Now, on another happy note, I was several minutes into your video, and realized that bubbly little bird in the background is HOUSE WREN! "Jenny" migrates and usually arrives at my house in Maryland around April 24/25 (along with Catbird.) I've seen Catbird but have not heard my wren yet...hearing them there warmed my heart and made me excited. Love you bunches. 🫶🤗👩🏼🌾💚 =^..^= (nature girl)
I have wild thistle growing under a large weigela that I could never get rid of. Then one day I saw a hummingbird and some butterflies feeding on them. I looked it up and they are not only host plants for many butterflies but the pollinators love them & finches do too (the goldfinches are beautiful), so I leave them there. I know the wild thistle helped my garden with the pollinators too because it has done so much better!
That’s so good! I can’t have it growing back there. It becomes a hiding place for very big 6 foot black racer snakes we have seen in and around the shed, so we need it clear so my kids can safely play without anything lurking around. I have many pollen rich and native plants to make sure I’m inviting the beneficial birds and insects into the garden. 💜
@@HowsItGrowing I understand your point, btw they are not poisonous and they eat vermin, so you must have something going on in your storage shed. Wish we still had them here!
Omg Laura I'm with you on the landscape fabric. My mom had installed the fabric all around her patio, it worked great those first few years but after the mulch started to break down weeds began to grow then birds brought in mint so I had mint runners growing underneath and eventually weeds growing in the then broken down mulch on top. It was a beast to take out the fabric after about 5 years it was useless I had weeds all over the top and those mint runners on the bottom. It was an all day back breaking project to remove. So anyone thinking about fabric in a garden bed should think twice.
It’s SO BAD 😩 I’m sorry you went through all that. It’s never a solution for a garden bed. Even with a walking path, I’m cautious and hesitant. When I moved in there was fabric down with English ivy completely groeing into it. I had to hire someone to get rid of it, it was so bad.
Great plan love your colour choices. This is on my project list this year for a bbq area. I will probably do a video on it as well to show how we are building the area and my stencil design. I love this kind of creativity and making something your own!
Beautiful transformation of the greenhouse floor! Love the stencil, love the color ( and I’m not a “green” fan as a rule). Makes me want to do some stenciling somewhere. 😬😬😬 Clematis is the exception to the rule: don’t plant too deep. They should be planted with the crown about two inches BELOW soil level!
Thank you so much 😀 I’ve got about 10 clematis growing happily over the many years. Losing count now! 😆 You are totally right! Deep planting of clematis definitely encourages branching. I do mulch or add compost on top of all my beds, I should have mentioned that as well. 👍 I’ll point that out in another video, it’s important.
Thank you! No, the sink base is the same color, kind of creamy yellow that we had matched to our inside kitchen cabinets. I do have the little ice cream parlor chair at the end, I use that all the time. It’s one of the first things I bought when I moved here and used it in my old potting shed. 💜
Be prepared, I live on Long Island and have that exact snowball viburnum bush in my front yard and, very quickly, it got to be almost 15 ft high and wide, yikes! I have to chop it to half the size every year after it blooms to keep it under control. But it's a showstopper for sure!
I love the greenhouse floor project. Love the stencil choice and the color is great! I heard your wind chime but didn’t see it. How big is it, the sound is so peaceful. Also, love your house especially the front porch. Rocking chair heaven.
I love your entire home and garden. It’s beautiful and my favorite style. Would you mind telling me where you got your shed/garage and greenhouse? Thank you!
I really like your tile project! I've got a couple spots where I haven't decided on what material to place for the paths. I was just going to use mulch until I decided. I can still do that, but add stenciled tiles. I have to disagree with you on the clematis-planting advice. I was told years ago, and have had success, to plant them deeply. Reason being is if top growth is hit with a virus (which is fairly common) the deep roots are unaffected and will push new growth.
You’re absolutely right. I usually go along and top with mulch or compost, which will come up and cover more of the plant. Definitely my mistake there. I’ll have to clarify in another video. Thank you! 💜
About the arborvitae stump…I’ve also been cutting down instead of digging out if at all possible because I’ve heard it’s much better for soil structure, and the roots will eventually feed critters in the soil and provide channels in the soil for moisture and nutrients to travel.
Absoluely! Yes! I just need to keep an eye on it here for any termites since the shed is wood and it’s in close proximity. But it’s a great thing to do so long as the plant wasn’t diseased.
It looks fantastic! Ugh! I did exactly the same thing last year in my greenhouse with the floor, except no stenciling! Now I want to go back and do that! Hmm 🤔 thanks for the idea!
Can you please do a video of how your going to trim the spent foliage and flowers on your hellabores? Everything I’ve been able to find is only on trimming the leaves
Absolutely yes. It’s very easy to do. I won’t touch them again until probably Feb or March. You’d just follow down the stem and clip off the blooms at the base of the plant. I’ll definitely show it at the time. You can’t really do anything wrong there. It will flush out all new growth from the base of the plant.
YOUR greenhouse floor is just so sweet! Ive greenhouse envy … its not overpowering and all your spaces are amazing. Always look forward to your updates. How do you do all you do with work family and home ???
Thank you! 💜 I appreciate it! It’s definitely a balance. Some things just have to wait. I work as a freelance web developer from home, so it allows me the flexibility to work during the day ouside and computer work at night whrn kids are in bed. I need a nap. 😆
I love the trellis that are going to hold the Clematis....did you make them or buy them. I have a space I would do two window with one trellis Very nice....good job!
Laura, do you know the name of the Viburnum? I want to use your idea and put it in a big pot, but I wasn’t sure the kind of variety that is best. Thank you 😊
Yes, I thought I mentioned that. 🙈 Weeds blow weed seeds, new weeds grow. I despise landscape fabric. It’s just for a walking path because I’ve been hand pulling thistle for years removing the entire tap root with no success. Last year we put the fabric down behind the garage and mulched on top. No thistle this year thankfully. We get big 6 foot black snakes that hide in that kind of brush against the garage, so that was my main objective to clear it up for a path so my kids (and me 😆) don’t get a surprise out there.
Can I ask why you pronounce clematis the way that you do? I am getting into fights left and right online, and I am seriously not trying to be a jerk. I am so perplexed as to why seasoned gardeners and even some experts in the field seem to stubbornly insist on mispronouncing it. They will even tell you: I know I am not pronouncing it right, leave me alone, don't send me letters and emails about it. It's not a difficult word. I love your channel so much, especially because like me, you have a small plot but cram so much into it. (I am in CT.)
Hi! 😆 Trust me, I’ve spent time thinking about this! Absolutely everyone in NJ (that I’ve ever encountered at least) says it this way. So, do I stick out like the one plant nerd in Jersey that knows better and force myself to say CLEM-a-tis? Or do I continue to say it the same as everyone around me does? As you’ve said, experts, instructors in my master gardeners class said “cle-MAT-is” Maybe I’ll switch it up and really throw people for a loop. 🤷🏻♀️ A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. 😆 Thank you for being here!
@@HowsItGrowing I've heard people use that reason (basically what you said: no matter how it's pronounced, we know what plant we're talking about, etc.) Your other explanation is one I haven't heard before: feeling the peer pressure to pronounce it the way others in your area do. At least that makes sense to me. I also have struggled with certain pronunciations. It took me a while to say "Ver-BEAN-uh" instead of "Ver-BANE-uh." (For verbena, of course.) I have noticed that many experts won't come out and say, "you're pronouncing that wrong." They simply politely say it the right way and hope that you catch on, haha! At least that was my experience at White Flower Farm, which is where a helpful employee helped me to find Verbena. Anyway, thank you for not getting your hackles up. I love your channel and am irritated to realize I have not been getting notifications so I have a lot to catch up on. Do you follow The Impatient Gardener? If not, you would love her.
Laura, I just love the floor, especially the green!, Great job! You are so fun to listen too! I can totally relate and how honest you are with your projects. Again, your husband is so amazing! I’m not sure if my husband would actually stencil my pavers! He helps me here and there but your husband goes above and beyond. What a gem you have! Can’t wait till your next video!! @minervas_garden19
