If the old gods came to influence Azeroth, who says Azeroth could not influence the old gods herself? That would explain why the old gods went rogue against the void, and why the void needed to send Xal in the first place, to put the old gods back in track, and why she might be older but, at the same time, allow for her to talk about them as an unified group, she was their supervisor after all. Finally, the old gods, corrupted by Azeroth, found a way to get rid of her, putting her into the dagger, but with N'Zoth making a deal away from the other old gods to... safekeeping himself.
I think the answer is simple: they had plan for Xal to be a relevant Void/Old God figure, but with years in advance between his debut and her being relevant, they kept her nature vague because the writers own idea of her was still vague aside "spooky void/old god entity". Maybe initially she was planned to be a fifith lost Old God, then later they changed their mind. Especially after BFA turned the OG into a laughing stock.
I think that is the case. My biggest worry is that we are basing speculations on these whispers and it wouldn't be impossible if Blizzard literally forgets they even wrote these whispers in the first place and just contradict everything.
N'Zoth was not different to the other old gods and as implemented in game- N'zoth had a lot more influence in the plane of reality than all other old gods. BfA wasn't perfect, but it wasn't shit all the way.
@@mustafabrennpaste6521 N'Zoth was costantly highlighted as the weakest Old God and a minor treat compared to Sylvanas and Xal. Even Azshara dared to shitalk him while still serving him, something no other Old God servant ever did.
In my head canon, Xal'atath is the Herald of the Void, an entity slightly lower than the Void Lords and sent by them to guide or observe the efforts of the Old Gods on Azeroth. If that was the case, it would make sense for the Old Gods to imprison her if they rebelled.
Xala'tath is likely the shadows described attacking in the Eyes of the Earthmother myth. That's why she sees Elune as an "upstart goddess", Xala'tath was old when Elune was born. This time period is before the black empire- the time of the shu'halo, trolls, elementals and insect races. Not sure there is a name for that era yet.
Well I wouldn't be surprised if they forget Legion quotes, since it's not the same people that wrote Legion and before and BfA and after, aside from Metzen who just returned. Blizzard is not a singular entity, multiple people come and go as with any other company. But as I said, since Metzen is back, hopefully Xal'atath won't be Jailer-ed.
I mean, you people are on such a low level of intelligence, that you don't even understand something like the Jailer, so overall it likely can be that Blizzard will just try to help you and make everything anime level stupid, so you people don't have to feel insulted anymore. Not that this would stop you from still crying around, what seems to be the core of your existence, to waste your lives to cry about the story of a videogame you are unable to understand, what is just freaking sad.
I thought it was neat that the whispers from N'zoth a few months back in that time travel quest are basically him telling us what the upcoming expansion will be.
Maybe they're a precursor to OGs or an offshoot like a cousin to OGs? Or hell, maybe Xal is the blueprint for the OGs that the Void Lords used to create them for all we know. That be creepy
Maybe Elune is a void realms nature aspect? Also void is a very neutral force because it's nature is about comsuming everything, but the way it affects beings that is affected by it become "evil"?
@@bloodknyte And since the destruction of that planet was for Sargeras the same thing the culling of straltholme was for Arthas , then Xal'atath could be like the Malganis of Sargeras
im telling ya.. There is alot of Evidence that Xal'atath WAS a 5th old god but some one or something (probably nzoth) betrayed her and shoved her in the knife.. allowing her to "evolve" from the mortal realm. She talks about how Nzoth is the weakest, which implies he was unable to defend himself, yet when you look at the old god map officially released by blizz cthun is the weakest. The borders show a flooding to the south towards what is now Khaz'algor and pandaria (both which were in her territories would allow her to find the star in the earth (its a naruu swapping to void)). Nzoth doesnt acknowledge xal'atath as anything but a lesser, which would imply that she is beneath him. He witnessed the events of Xal'atath leaving the knife and being something else while he is still "stuck" so he got us to shove him into a knife, which has mysteriously vanished. End of the Last titan will be us going back in time to the black empire (not by choice, the titans purge the world or something) and we hunt down Xal'atath before she becomes imprisoned to become something else. The huge question tho is what is the dagger
There are thousands of ways to be "weaker" than someone else and individuals tend to weight certain aspects more than others. Someone like Nzoth for example will mainly care about intellect and the skill to manipulate others and see anything else as inferior anyway, especially with his main defense being to exist in that realm of insanity he has created, which just corrupts anyone who steps inside, doesn't matter how physically poweful they are. On top of that there is not much reason to believe anythign a manipulator says to begin with.
The possibility of her being a corrupted world soul is an interesting one - and I'll take that on a different route: What if she's not a corrupted world soul, but one just not aligned with the titans? What if Sargaras wasn't just hunting down corrupted world souls, but also ones that simply didn't align with the titans? What if the titans themselves were fully aware of it, and allowed it because they simply couldn't allow other titans/world souls to exist that weren't with their group? Far fetched, yes, but still interesting. Honestly, I think she's just a diminished void lord or a very powerful former servant of theirs.
It’s rather than unfortunate, the Dracthyr was hyped up to be this super bad ass playable race of dragon’s. Now they got completely swept under the bus and sorta just been forgotten.
It’s easy cause it rekated to star craft in a way, old gods made exactly same way as the overmind and act the same :) , where xal’atath is more like the xel’naga :) the step above the overmind as a creator , then there are the void lords like Amon which is first ever void lord /god to be defeated - Kerrigan
Some info : Serg wanted to stab Azeroth so the void gods couldn’t take its power, we all know this as the reason why he kills dormant planet souls is for that reason, his whole thing was to save the cosmos by basically being the bad guy. Now maybe somewhere down the line his goals got a little twisted. But none the less, he didn’t stab Azeroth cuz he’s just a villain, he did it so the void lords couldn’t have Azeroth. BUT this is where xal comes in, what we know: she’s in favor of the void, thinks sergs crusade was a useless endeavor to stop the inevitable. She been released from her blade so we know she could travel with portals anywhere but she chose to stay on Azeroth? Which means, she wants to obviously do something with the world soul. NOW this is where the theory comes in: What if the goal of the void lords, being so ancient has been mistranslated and lost to time, the old gods that they seeded on Azeroth grew too ambitious for their own kingdoms and power and lost sight of their goal, Xal was originally the foreman, making sure the higher ups work gets done but the workers (the old gods) decided they were having too much fun, and sealed her away to keep her quiet from snitching. Now that she was released, she’s been in direct communication with the void gods, or atleast trying too so the original plan could go back to its tracks, what if, this whole time, the goal of the void lords wasn’t to eat everything and leave a blank cosmos but what if it was too remove all forms of order to let the universe evolve on its own, and while the titans aren’t evil, the void gods aren’t either. But WHAT IF there is a 3rd entity. Time. Think about it, the void does it’s basic ABCS influence, change, and violate while titans/light do theirs, Control, Order and instill rules. But time DOES NOT the infinite flight will fight the void and the titans, their only allegiance is to turn norzdormu into murozond, but what if, that’s just stage 1? What if Time has gotten sick of always being the one in the background, watching passively, what if the infinite are part of a larger faction, where their goals isn’t simple like void or light who want chaos or order. What if Times goal is to swallow everything into 1 entity. A mass of reality that exists at all times and doesn’t move in one direction. Idk it would be cool
No one knows what and why Sargeras exactly wanted to stab there. It's just the most obvious possibility that he tried to kill the planet, but by far not the only one. If that really would be his plan, he would have started with it and not tried to do whatever he planed with that cloud form. Stabbing the planet seems more like the an ugly Plan E or whatever, the only thing he was able to do at that point.
Many people are still getting this wrong. According to the Uldaman Odyn report, and the mention of Zerath Ordus, there is now a very low chance that Titans come from World souls. World souls is only an Azeroth and Argus unique way of coming into existence. Titans were created in Zerath Ordus, they do not come from World souls.
I seriously doubt Blizzard has any ability to maintain continuity between the expansions. They go through employees like water, and Steve Danuser is a hack writer. I'm pretty sure it is going to turn out the be some boring bland reason that is ten times worse then any fan theory. Like everything else they have revealed since Legion.
She isn’t our enemy at all, she’s doing exactly what wrathian was trying to do with us in MoP only we’re not preparing for an old god return but she’s preparing us to fight the other orders
Listen: when Amanthul ripped the Yosh from Azeroth he got corruption on him, and it developed through years so he can be a good baddy. He can somehow open the path to the void into our realm, causing massive cataclysms that Will help to have a restart of this game it cries for.
I love Xal'atath, she is my favorite NPC in the game next to Azeroth! I would love it if she were connected to Azeroth like Xal'atath is Azeroth's mother or sister! With all of this I hope we get Ethereals as a playable race!
I think she was meant to be an old god but Blizzard noticed people really liked the character. Also there are always the forever-criticising guys but we should just stop giving them so much credit
For some reason my head keeps screaming "the first void aspect"... a first direct creation of the void lords... void titan was on my mind as well but it feels to early...
My guess is that in later patches we will travel to abandoned undermine which was told that its near hearth of the world and we will find out that its like full voidy consumed
She is called The Harbringer after all. So she might have been sent before the OGs and if they rebelled and stopped her, and she got free now. She is the bringing her master(s) now after Azeroth has been prepared for invasion.
Bizarre theory: Everyone, from all sides, seems to think Azeroth is the most powerful being in the universe and wants to corrupt her. This makes Azeroth an almost entirely passive prize to be fought over. But what if she isn't? There's a lot of speculation that Azeroth is imprisoned somehow; probably by the Titans but who knows. But the old gods were also imprisoned by the Titans and they still managed to corrupt various things: a dragon aspect, a world tree, etc. What if Azeroth has the same ability to "corrupt" from within her prison? What might an old god look like and do if "corrupted" by Azeroth? What might a Titan do if corrupted by Azeroth (*cough* Sargeras *cough*)?
Just a thought, how old are the dreadlords? You know, all their manipulative talks, their goal to infiltrate all of the cosmological forces (I don't know about an order dreadlord) and she is the void dreadlord (also can't think of any)? It would make sense for her to give the players information so they think she is of void, but maybe she isn't? I know it is a bit of a stretch, but if we tie it to the theory that Zovaal isn't the Jailer, but the Primus is, while Zovaal was only a puppet, and Denathrius is in cahoots with the Primus (or he may be operating separately by this point), it would also make sense.
I'm starting to think Blizzard finds theories online and write something new (and less good) because they're too proud and think they can think up something better.
Actually he is right most of the times. Well, he does like to make a summary of things which is precisely why I like his videos. I think you are being too harsh. Why should anyone need to know every bit of lore to make speculation videos? It's really enough to love Warcraft. Which he certainly does.
Oh yeah, now is definitely the hour for everyone to bring out their tinfoil hats. I personally hope she's not a villain. I like that the Void is developing into something that is more than just some pure-evil faction that opposes the pure-good Light. Xal'atath has respect for Alleria who has seen the potential in the void, but Alleria doesn't appear to be aligned with it for evil purpose. Just like Death, I'd like to think of the Void as just another power within the cosmos. Not moral or immoral, just amoral. Internally, it's probably a big ass chess game between void lords and not merely some unified all-corrupting force. Now, if you want unified and all-corrupting... that's the Light. I think it would be interesting for our current storyline if she was not out to kill us but just needed to use us _and_ the elemental protodragons in order to bring about a favorable position for some future calamity in this massive void lord chess game. Maybe we will eventually learn that the situation she's trying to create just happens to be favorable to all of us, and Azeroth, and maybe all of creation too. Maybe she'll even be instrumental in purging Azeroth of the Old Gods and their remnants once and for all? Only reason why I want to believe this is because we keep getting hints that this timeline is the "good" timeline only because there's a constant stalemate between the cosmological forces, but they all play their part. Even though they constantly vie for supremacy, they're not good or evil. If any of them actually wins the battle, that is what brings about the worst outcome. They're merely doing what they do because it's what the First Ones set up. I want to believe that Alleria is a hint that we're not supposed to think of the Void as purely evil. And I definitely wouldn't want to see a developed character like Xal'atath die at the end of a raid 2/3rds of the way through this saga and only be remembered for her loot table. I don't think I'd be able to stand yet another "what is to come" line from someone like her, either. We still haven't figured out what Zovaal's deal was and supposedly his goals were bigger and more important than all the cosmological forces combined.
Void overall feels more alien than evil. Their main known trait to see all truthst at once for example, makes them always part of pretty much everything. While Light stands for one, plane, despotic'truth', void stands for all the possibilities - the good, the bad, the wonderful and the horrifying ones. Makes it easier for a human to follow light, it's much more simple - until you realize, that this will chain you to never changing fate for all eternity. Of course the void wouldn't be better and likely just drive a human mind insane in its purity. Bu that's the whole point of the WoW cosmos: ALL cosmic forces are needed and be in balance.
I dont know, as for now blizzard storytelling makes both old gods and voidlords looks stupid as F. If Voidlords has as powerful creatures as Xala'that at their disposal. Why use an inferior servant in the old gods to act out their plans in the first place only for them to fight among themselves almost from the start. Why not use Xala'that from the start if she now is older and more powerful then the old gods? Where does the first ones fit into this those who seems older than the Titan themselves. I think they can fix the mess of a story. I hope it does not turn out Xala'that was behind the jailor aswell. But I do wonder how the death theme will affect future plot as it seemed death was the only ones that could not be corrupted by Void unlike all the other forces light, fel, arcane and life too I guess.
So plot twist what if N'zoth actually survived, cause a fragment of him was stored in the blade that Wrathion possessed. When he stabbed the Carapace of N'zoth, and Wrathion is actually working with N'zoth using the blade as some sort of advisor, or guide to something greater.
well, the Old Gods are incredibly hard to "truly" kill, which is why they were imprisoned by the titans, despite the fact that they could just rip them from the planet. They didn't rip them from the planet, because of how the Old Gods ingrain themselves into the planet, ripping them from it would cause far greater damage, which they learned when they attempted to rip Y'shaarj from Azeroth, who, depite being about as dead as the Old Gods can be, still can influence things just from their corrupting presence.
You can't really kill an old god in reality. At best you could in the void, but even there, seeing what the void is, it's unlikely, for sure not by just stabbing them.
@@bloodknyte The imprisoned part was more about that they hid so deep inside Azeroth that titan nuking them with order power would also kill the planet. But yes, they are hard to kill, likely even harder than demons.
I'm not a fan of her being "older then rthe Old Gods". Why power-creep lore? Old Gods are interesting enough, much of what we know about them probably isnt true. We dont know there purpose, their society, what they actually look like, really anything. Felt the same way during the Shadowlands, like why create these new beings the are older then Titians when we have Titians. No need to add more to the plate if we are still eating.
That's the info there is, that the old gods are mere tools of the Void. Of course this doesn't mean that it is impossible, that they do their own thing. Biggest problem of the void is, that it can't really enter reality, the main reason why to work with something like the old gods to begin with. So it's like the servants of a big boss being able to do their own thing, because the boss is somewhere else and too big to enter their work space.
Maby she is the Black Goat that the puzzel box of Yogg-Saron was whispering about..... Not the seven heads of Y'shaarj but the eyes of Xal'atath's (maby) void spiderform?
i think all we know about is only 11.1, blizzard likes to keep their plot twists behind closed doors. she will probably be the opener to the new expansion in some way. hopefully not a villian
Nobody is asking the right questions! Where the Old Gods came from, where they transformed into the void? Is Xal'atath like Lilith/Ékhidna the mother of all demons/monsters? And consequently the mother of all Old Gods? Questions… so many questions 😅
Hello just stumbled upon this vid. Its good. If I may suggest something though, reread the new Eyes of the Earth Mother story from Folks and Fairy Tales, it should give you the answer your looking for.
Xal'atath is like Buu from DragonBall. Azeroth is the good fat Buu, Xal'atath was the dark side of Azeroth. The Old Gods awakened and released that part of her but were unable to completely awaken and corrupt the entirety of Azeroth before they were interrupted. Perhaps, like Piccolo and Kami, if one dies so does the other - in which case Xal'atath was like da fuq? She certainly wasn't going to help the Old Gods destroy her. So she began to stray, that trapped her in the knife, we freed her, and she left to go get someone or something strong enough to awaken Azeroth without nearly killing her in the process (and powerful enough to fend off the Titans who wouldn't hesitate to kill the Azeroth if they realized how deeply it had been corrupted). Just kidding. That's all garbage. I have no idea what Xal'atath is. I just hope they don't ruin her.
it might be way more simple then we think lmao she might just be just like aleeria windrunner just what happened to her happened to xalatath years ago lmao but im sure blizzard will tell us over the next year or two
Not sure what Xal is but just hope that blizzard follows up with an interesting story and her reveal isn’t another dud. After all the speculation over several years, it would be a shame if her arc was just, meh.
@@Doronsmovies many thanks! Wow its so sneaky for blizzard to pay a magazine more than half the playerbase don’t understand. Very interesting and smart move to bring out lore like that, keeps it a mystery
I'm upset that she'd going to be the next big villain. I was under the impression that she was going to be a void adjacent character who would help us protect Azeroth from other void lords/old gods and meddling titans who think they know better. Basically I saw her coming up to be like Khadgar 2.0 only instead of arcane themed, she would be Shadow themed but basically in the same role as him. I guess not apparently :(
It's not unlikely tht the original, undominated Zovaal (what for sure corrupted him in a not really good way), saw the whole creation of the WoW universe with the cosmics forces forming reality together, but in constant struggle about to be the one to dominate reality and of course what liese beyond (and before?) this construct and how the intern struggle weakens it so much, that it would easily fall to these primal 'forces' (whatever it/they are) Especially this odd cycle of those odd mortals going back and fourth between a short "life" and a much longer "death" must have felt awful, unlogical and giant waste of energy, while he might even saw it as even bad for mortals, who overal were indeed just pawns in that freaky play. Would be interesting to see how Zovaal was before and if his plan was exactly the same, but I guess to know this would be too much info at this point and give too much insight into the whole structure and reason of the cosmic war and how everything was created, what of course is somethin you would show very later as a writer, to keep that feeling of mystery.
@@miriamweller812 Hmmm. Time stuff in DF could be the way to see what really drove Zovaal to what he became. I mean... Zovaal is WoW universe Thanos basically.
I always thought the old God's never worked for the void n were something aszroth had made for a reason that why the old gods talk about the dream instead of the void.
no, the Old Gods are entities sent throughout the universe by the Void Lords in an effort to corrupt a worldsoul. They're basically darts being thrown in hopes of there being a dartboard to hit, essentially.
And all this time Azeroth pleasantly sleeps and dreams while her children the cosmic forces fight who will wake her up. 😂😂😂 And prove themselves to mommy ❤😅😅
Technically anything 3rd party controlling your keyboard while playing WoW is a ToS violation and can get you banned.....so I wouldn't be advertising this.
What makes me curious is, what is the equivalent of the Void Lords but on the Light's side? We have seen plenty of void spawns with their particular looks and servants like the Old Gods and their minions, but what could be the equivalent of the Old Gods for the Light? 🤔
@@lexysraymont9627 maybe elune. khadgar did say: I stumbled upon a passage indicating that the prime naaru may have been created by elune during the great ordering of light and shadow." Maybe something in her direction.
@@bopo900Elune was proven to be an entity of Life during the Shadowlands. It's been shown though that she works with other cosmic beings like Eonar with Order and her sister with Death, so she could of done the same with a cosmic being of Light as well.
She might also be a Priest/Prophet for the void lords, created before the old gods. Might be why she calls them brethren and calls the void lords masters...I dunno, looking forward to finding out her lore.
