Happy Late 32nd Anniversary to this movie, New Jack City. The movie was released on March 8, 1991. I was in Maryland when the movie came out. I liked the soundtrack as well.

Regarding a remake of NJC Wesley Snipes has said something's need to be left alone & he would not participate in a remake. I totally agree & applaud the brother for his stance on the matter. The crack cocaine epidemic period is an era the African American community does not need to be reminded of or relive in no way. Everything coming out of Hollywood today is remakes because there are no original ideas anymore.

ME TOO!!! 12 Years old in Dallas, TX... with MY MOM! Funny, we'd moved to TX from the Bronx 3 years before and I couldn't believe that all those vials I would see in the streets, stairwells, and parks (in the BX, before we left NYC) were the VERY SAME THING I saw in the movie! I realized, later, that my mom moved us out of NYC, JUST IN TIME. It got REALLY BAD after we left...JUST like you saw in the movie! MANY family members and friends, back in NY, got caught up as crack addicts during that time.

I remember the first time seeing this movie n theatres, I was 11 years old n the spring of 91, me, my mom and stepdad, this was my first introduction 2 urban gangsta movies, my first time seeing Wesley Snipes he was new 2 me, didn't know he was n other movies before this one as well as Ice-t, I didn't even know which character or actor was Ice-t, first time seeing Chris Rock just thought he was a character actor or something idk Judd Nelson's name sounded familiar but didn't recognize him with the facial hair and sunglasses, also saw the trailer 4 out for justice with Steven Segal when I saw this movie

This film was revolutionary with the effect it had in many communities. It inspired a lot of violence and helped to light the fire that continues to burn today. The first inspired shootings were outside of the cinema following the film.
