Welcome to the NEW LIFE SMP! In episode 3 of New Life and this modded Minecraft series, I start by flying over my airport-modded Minecraft base and start a massive expansion to the base. Also, I get the airplane flying and taking off and landing on the runway with the Create mod. The airport is now fully functional airport in Minecraft. I love the Minecraft Create mod, the best mod ever!

@SpaceCherry461 Stacyplays is the one who built the little house in the Nether. She's a strider, so she likes to walk around in lava, that's why the floor was lava. But it was her waystone that got Scar back home. She's only posted one video so far

Sometimes I think about how Scar didn't always pronounced "scared for life" as "scaarrrrrrrred for life" until he did a pirate theme during one of the seasons of Hermitcraft and saying his outro the pirate way became habit, and I wonder if he notices the he's still doing the pirate pronunciation.

@@mirar.6091 I think the pirate theme came in season 6 of hermitcraft (not 100% sure about that though), so if you watch some of his content from before then, you should be able to hear it.

The cast iron recipe is the same as the trapdoor, so you need to put in a recipe filter on the basin. It’s on the orange boxes that appear on the basin. As for the filter, you’ll need an item filter, and use the side menu to drag a cast iron ingot onto the slots. Then, right click the filter onto the basin. After you have one, you can replace the item filter with a regular cast iron ingot

Just placing a single iron ingot into the basin should work to create the first cast iron, then that can be used to set the recipe filter. (Just right click it into the basin's filter slot, no extra item needed.)

@@copygirl this is what I did a few days ago when I encountered the same problem. At least it was making iron blocks for me so I could uncraft them instead of ending up with a useless trapdoor 😅

The shadows appear because the minecart is in a dark area. Should be a easy fix with torches or something around the underground track. The glasspanes are locked to the rest/stop position of the plane. Make sure the glass panes don’t touch any blocks at the stopping position

I believe if you use multiple mine carts, layer out in a rectangular position, attach it to the plane you can move the levels of the plane to make it bend upward downward left and right, give the plane more life and movement. It would help with takeoff to make it look cooler and who wouldn’t wanna be able to tilt left and right in a plame

The panes are from it being disassembled and reassembled in the ground, with blocks around it. So make sure the panes are free of blocks all around when you assemble/disassemble. Also, the clouds could be causing the shadows, maybe try turning the clouds off.

I agree with the first thing you said but it's just a visual glitch with the shadows and he(or you if you are reading this, Scar) should disconnect then reconnect.

@@noahglimcher5445 Typical modded minecraft lighting glitches. All the blocks (hopefully) only need their light levels updated. Filling air with sea lanturns, then back to air will probably fix, which someone with OP can do in under a couple minutes of work. If it's a chunk generation error, though, and the chunk itself is corrupted I know no reliable fix rather than starting a new world unfortunately.

Glass panes connect to the blocks around it, so when the plane is assembled, the glass panes remain in connected form. You can replace glass with string because it looks better as invisible support.

Hey Scar! Regarding the glass panes, it's connecting to the dirt blocks in the ground when the plane is stopped. I tested and you can glue STRING instead of glass panes to make it near-invisible! :) Hope that helps!!

Scar looking right at the dispensers in the plane design while it's making the dispenser firing clicking sounds: "I don't know why it's clicking, guys" I did a lil chuckle. I love how well Scar uses vanilla redstone blocks when making builds, but create really works differently with them.

Scar I think you should consider switching to a traintrack based system. It would make the turning and taking off look a lot smoother and more natural with tilting and more gradual turns. Might also help with the shadows

It might have a problem with the plane turning around the train casing in contact with the tracks. It would make the plane move backwards whenever the tracks go from flat to upwards or from downwards to flat.

@@carinaelliott9020, imagine a wheel, if you move the point at the bottom it to the right, it goes to the right an up. Now make a line from the bottom point crossing the center and passing the other extreme of it. If you push the bottom point, the top of the line would move to the left and downwards. The curve the tracks do act like the bottom of this wheel, because the entire train turns around it. I hope it helps you to visualise the problem.

@@carinaelliott9020, ok, I'll try another example. Imagine a roller-coaster with a loop. Now imagine a pole attached to the car that is the same length as than the diameter of the loop with an airplane attached to the top. If the car is in a straight line, the plane will go in the same direction but in the loop, to rotate in the same sense as the car, it has to move in the opposite direction, so it would have to move backwards.

To make the Cast Iron Ingots: You need to put only one iron to make a singular Cast Iron Ingot. Then right click the Cast Iron Ingot on the Filter slot of the Basin (the little square). Now you can throw as many Iron Ingots as you want, and it will only make Cast Iron Ingots.

I believe your plane would work better if you built the "base" to be a Create Train rather than a minecart contraption. As long as the entire structure is part of the train, you could install the train controller up on the plane itself and drive around your rails that way. This would also allow you to set routes and schedules for your planes to take off, land, and travel where ever you want them to go automatically. If other players wanted to, they could even add extensions to your tracks that lead to their bases and build their own runways by following the pattern you just set for the underground portion of your airport.

A potential problem with using trains would be the plane rotating around the piece that touches the tracks. It could make the movement become a lot weider than it is now.

The builds you've done in this world are amazing so far! also, once you get far enough into the create mod, you should definitely replace the minecart and rails that you're using to move the plane with a train, that way you could control how fast the plane moves, it would move more smoothly, and you'd be able to make split paths for it to go on

You could even make a proper airport where planes (attached to trains) are scheduled to be at different gates at different times, maybe even have screens with real-time info like departures! i wanna try this actually

@@thomasfplm I'm slightly confused what you're saying, but If you're saying what I think you are, he could just make the tracks less steep, planes don't take off at a 45 degrees anyway, and even if it did move backwards before going up going up, it would still end up looking a lot more smoothe than how it does with the minecarts.

Hey scar you should use CREATE TRAINS to make it seem more smooth. You could also use rotating blocks to angle the plane before takeoff so the back wheel touches the ground

I think the plane is clicking because you used droppers in the design. Basically redstone object activate automatically when moving on a contraption. HOWEVER, this can also be used to your advantage, if you put something on the propeller to make it rotate, it will rotate automatically when it starts moving.

Scar use rails and trains instead of minecarts. They don't unload when out of render distance You can schedule them to "fly" to specific locations And most important of all animals get funny little hats when controlling the plane

The glass panes are weird because while the plane isn't moving, they connect to the sides of the chute that leads to the minecart track. If you mine out the walls of the chute underground it *should* fix it.

Scar, if you’re still looking for tree ideas, consider adding the palo verde (native to the Sonoran desert). It’s an entirely green tree which looks kind of wonky irl but could look amazing in-game!

I love this concept Scar! I feel like it would be easier to do as a create mod train instead of a minecart contraption, then you shouldn't get the crazy shadows and it should be easier to pilot it or ride inside.

Can we also appreciate the fact scar wanted a flat land but didn’t use the overrated plains biome and instead chose a forest and spent his time clearing out all of the trees. Hey Scar! The shadow is probably due to lighting engine glitches. If you can get someone that is OP'd to fill all the air in the area with sea lanturns, then fill it back to air, that should update it all.

Scar, you should do remote redstone to get the plane going that way you can start the plane from inside the plane! A few of the other hermits have fiddled with it, but I think it would really add to your build!

Hi Scar, to fix the glass panes they need to have all the stone cleared away from around them at your stop point with the cart assembler. The one at the surface of the runway maybe replace that square with slab or trapdoors. just something the glass will not connect to.

I don't know how he does it, with this and HermitCraft, and his builds in both are beyond amazing. In this video, it kills me that he completely nails the symmetry of the taxi-way and then gets down on himself about not calculating the proper depth for the minecart rail. I kept thinking back to poor Mumbo when he rage-quit because the bottom of his farm wasn't a square. 🤪

Scar I hope you see this! Maybe using the Create trains would work better for this concept because it's much smoother in terms of movement, you can definitely do more complex tracks with it and you can even control it while on the plane!

You should make it so it travels to everyone's bases. Better yet, you can make it so the operator gets to choose which base it goes to! In create there's these wireless redstone things that you can use to control redstone signals remotely, using this system you could make it so the track switches at different points, bringing the passenger to different areas of the world!

To get rid of the shadow... you can try do fix it with worldedit (ofc it has to be done in creative by a server moderator) but just select the entire area and do "//fixlighting" and since the area is quite big you should probably do it in smaller sections. and the glass is probably trying to connect to the blocks underground so you probably have to remove all the conncting blocks but maybe there is a better solution hope that is helping^^

taxi ways don't usually have thresholds on them, only runways. Whenever you take off to just land again, you enter a pattern that is basically just a big rectangle around the runway. It extends about one miles off of the end, turns left for 1 mile, left until you are one miles off the other and and one mile to the side, then left until you are just one mile off of the other end and then you land. I know you said you don't have enough rails for that right now but I think that you should implement that once you have enough materials. So excited to see where this goes and I'm so happy to see non-pilots dabbling in the world of aviation.

For the glass panes being extended: Park the plane and clear any blocks from around the the glass panes in it's parked position. They probably stay in the same state they were in when you activated the contraption, so they are connecting to other blocks under the runway. PS - I believe the "shadows" are lighting glitches from having your create contraption intersecting with solid blocks. I've had it happen on a Create mining drill contraption.

As someone with no degree just a lot of random knowledge I can confirm this is absolutely true because for something to qualify as a desert it has to get 10in/25cm(or less) of precipitation a year and the air there is to cold to hold a significant amount of water

About the "full extension" of the glass pains, I'm guessing that it's because when the plane is static (as blocks, not entities), there could be blocks the glass pains links to. Maybe make the hole around them (between the caves and the sort of road) a bit larger ?

Scar, if you want the aeroplane to move perhaps more smoothly and have even more control over it (like controls on-board the ship that can control speed) then you should use the "train tracks" and make the contraption a train instead of just a minecart contraption. It's more expensive, but would totally fit.

I think that shadow-ness is from the clouds. But that is just the coolest thing I've ever seen in Minecraft. A plane built with blocks actually able to take off and land. That is so cool!

as for the cast iron try just leaving one ingot in the basin (or cauldron, as you called it) but another thing, you should try swapping the minecarts for trains later on because it's much smoother and has more flexibility.

Hey @GoodTimesWithScar, as always an amazing video. I LOVE your tree design i think it really fits the vibe. And to your questions from 19:40 I have following answers: 1. The Glass Panes are at full extension because when you reassemble the Plane the panes had blocks around them 2. The clicking of the plane is caused by the droppers in the front being powered (i dont know what is powerinng them tho) 3. The shadow glitch is just a general bug with entitys of a certain size in minecraft. If the moving object is smaller or the same size as one chunk (so 16x16) there wont be any light bugs, tho if it is bigger it will be bugged (afaik there is no way to work around it besides making it smaller) PS: Cant wait to see the airport building designs you'll come up with!

If you can glue string(the trap wire kind) you can have a “invincible” “wire” from the plane to the minecart instead of glass pain. Like the comment so scar sees this!

I can only state this again, using train tracks instead of minecart rails would improve this so much. Smooth ups and downs and corners, easy controlling of the plane and even schedules to let it autonomously fly between airports. Please reconsider your choice. Other than that I love how the airport is coming along.

It’s very interesting that you mentioned Edwards Air Force Base because, as someone who grew up in Southern California, this very much reminds me of California desert.😁You did a fantastic job replicating it. I wonder if it would be possible to trap some spiders without it looking like they’re trapped to represent tarantulas.🤔😁Awesome stuff. Can’t wait to see what else you do.

For the cast iron you might just have to keep trying until it gives you one ingot and then put it in the filter on the basin.

if you make a filter (the kind with 1 wool and 2 iron nuggets) you're able to just pull the "item" into the filter from JEI like you used to in enderIO. this doesn't create any items so its not cheating (source: i just did it in create myself)

@@sortfaar3 you won't need to craft a filter if you use the built-in one on the side of the basin. You have to hover over the upper half of one of the sides, but there should be a small orange outline box appear that's partially imbedded in the side of the basin. And right clicking it with the item should make one show up inside the box. I hope this saves a little bit of your materials in the future.

(I should also probably add that you do need to put only 1 iron in first to make 1 cast iron so you can use it to right click on the box. So it is dependent on having one of an item first. Like the craftable filter, it doesn't consume the item or make a free one)

Hi Scar idk if you care about it but actually plains only take off the ground close to the end of field. For a loop it could fly around your dessert landscape next to the landing platform and than return to the ground (Maybe a track that's one block next to the one that helps you take off). You cared for the accuracy so I thought you want to let the plain fly in a semi realistic way/route as well. But for a test run it looks pretty great! Love your constructions and those small "sand" piles remind me of the aro dynamic clubs airport I "grew up" on. If you do wireless redstone you could put the controllers for that in a tower that's your radio tower. And when you add your places for the Planes im which people can assemble their own plains, park and write down forget that some of the plains can hang off the ceiling with strips and hooks in case you run out of space on the ground. You can have small garages underground and you can select which plain comes out by selecting different wirles redstone signals. Put in a stop in which a person can get into the plain. Other people suggested it already but I think a train would be a better idea for it than an assembled minecart.

I love how the plane moves like a 3d model in a late 90s edutainment game where they would have the modle just slide around. because the minecarts go around mostly the same speed its just a bunch of linear interpolation to move and rotate with and its amazingly charming for this munecraft builds to move simply like that.

I reccomend asking Fwhip about those wireless redstone boxes, you could have one in the plane that you could use to activate the cart assembler on the ground, so you could activate it inside the plane!

I don't know about the wither snakes for sure but, in fantasy, half human-half snakes (think a centaur but with a snake not a horse) are called nagas. Maybe the creatures in the Nether are a sort of Wither Bone Naga or Wither Skeleton Naga.

To fix the issue of controlling the plane, an (expensive) option of trains could be used to part it via rails, which also has the added bonus of it not doing the janky air spin effect. Love it regardless though

One thing you could try is using trains instead of minecarts for your airplanes. Trains are faster and more versatile than minecarts and train tracks are actually cheaper to make than powered rails, although there's a bit of a learning curve.
