After many years of painful waiting, COLT has delivered. Here I do the TNP review on the new Colt PYTHON. I got a 6 inch version on loan from Gunnies in Orem UT. My enthusiasm will spill out on this GRV as you will see. That's because Colt got pretty much everything right in this legendary revolver. I'll make a bold prediction also on what I see happening to the uber expensive original Colt Python market as well!

Thanks for coming out to the video! It’s never too late to join up! www.patreon.com/Nutnfancy You can also donate to the TNP independence with PayPal also, above. Here’s some of TNPP comments on this video! "Clint Allison Interesting take on it. I like the new Pythons. I hope they release a blue one. I'm not sure the price will fall on the old ones. I look at them like pre 64 Winchesters or something similar. As of right now, they continue to climb in price but I think it has more to do with inflation than the gun's value. I've got a 1960 6" blued Python if you ever need to do a comparison. It's a shooter and a good one at that. These guns loaded with 38s are just such sweethearts to shoot. I love my Smiths but I'll be the first to admit, the Python is a whole different level. Thanks for the excellent review. 4d The Nutnfancy Project The Python is a whole different level, just such a cool gun. Glad you scored an older one; so hard to find now. Most going for up to $3K is in pristine condition! 2 4d Stefan Knie I always wanted a python, now I really need to get one, wifey won't be happy, I'll blame you 😁😁 1 4d The Nutnfancy Project I'll take all the blame ;-) 2 4d Harold Galen McPheron My dream pistol!!!! 4d The Nutnfancy Project Your dreams are centered Harold 1 4d Patrick Richards I’m very happy with my King Cobra. 4d The Nutnfancy Project Nice to know 1 4d Ben “This addictive 2nd cool thing…” yep sums up a lot of things lol 1 4d The Nutnfancy Project It is, we're just that way as dudes 1 4d WallBreaker37 FINALLY!!! I’ve been waiting on this review for so long! Thanks for another quality review Nutn’! 1 4d The Nutnfancy Project Soooo glad to hear that 2 4d Load reply Joshua Mount I purchased one maybe 3 months after they came out and ive put a out 200 rds of full bore 357 through it and a bunch of 38s with no issues. 1500 i gladly ponied up. I bought the 2 inch Kimber K6 DASA and thats a awesome revolver too. I been carrying it alot lately. I collect vintage smiths and colts so im kind of a revolver guy. I dont always carry one because its a labor of love and im lazy sometimes but in the winter when i got a heavy wool jacket on. You bet im carrying a heavier gun. Yeah its expensive but its not unobtainable for anyone. Stop drinking coffee or whatever your guilty pleasure is for 4-6 months and im sure youll be close to getting one. 4d Gilberto Esquivel Instant Chub. If I got one, I would pet it and fondle it for at least a week before I fired it.......The Gun! I mean the Gun... 2 4d Steve Feeser So, you're saying this is a front heavy enjoyment piece? 4d Kenny VanCleave Such a beautiful gun. I hope Colt makes enough of them, so the asshats don't hoard them and drive the price up. Great review and I'm glad your doing better. 1 4d Andrey Shlyakt I always kinda wanted a Colt Python, then learned they were out of production when I got into guns. Now my desire has cooled a bit, especially considering the price. It still looks cool as hell, maybe one day after I have more systems squared away. Right now loving my 686 for half the price =p 1 4d Colin R You could go DUALIES with the 686 for one python, lol 3d Load reply Hold Fast Joe Great review, really enjoyed it 1 4d Andrew D Baldwin There's one in my local shop that I go and look at every so often. Never go in there without holding it and I feel like Mike Myers in Wayne's World. "It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine" 2 4d Colin R Great reference 3d Robert Avery Beautiful gun 4d David Perez 🤘🤘🤘, cool review! Stoked on picking up a King Cobra, they are great looking guns. 4d Ruben Lopez Hey Nutn! Just got done with my first tactical training class, FightingPistol! It was pretty awesome! 3 4d Greg Malcom Thanks Nutn !! 4d Andrew @Nutn Would like to see a S&W 640 Pro review (direct competitor to the K6s). 2 4d Greg Malcom In a world where our government is trying to kill us (the jab), it's great to have these videos for some escapism. It's like a buddy in the room. 4d john milochis I would love to own one but over here down under there selling for $3200 in our own currency and not to mention a lot of people who have the money are buying them so is a waiting list for them 4d Colin R Whoa. Australia is tough man. 3d RowdyRon I held one of these at the Luke BX about a month ago. Dry fired it. It took some self control to leave it at the counter. I know what you mean about that frenzy. I almost bought a Combat Troodon today! :) Thanks Nutn. 1 4d DACampbell Great review. I will be searching for a new Python. The cone fit and the lack of drag mark are pretty impressive. How did you clean the pistol? The amount of carbon buildup looked very small. 4d The Nutnfancy Project I use a lead removal cloth on the revolvers to clean them. Works great. Birchwood brand. just now Eric Kelley Hey Nutn……what’s the outro music? Very cool tune. 3d Duane R. Anderson They have one here in Suffolk VA. At CE Tactical on Godwin. Good folks there. 3d Pat McGroin Ammo currently over $1 rd. I dig mine. Makes me happy just fondling it. Safe queen for my boy when he is ready. I bought way way early. $1800 and i dont care. 1 3d Colin R The heart wants what the heart wants. 3d Colin R Gun lust. It's a beauty 3d David Threadgold I took one I borrowed to Alaska bow hunting on kodiak island and shot water jugs floating in the ocean and that was hard 2d Chris carr Sorry zero 2nd cool for me. I’m a ruger guy. My super blackhawk 2nd cool, super redhawk 1st cool. 340grains 44mag all day. 2d Dominic Jelly 2d Kyle Fiss Makes little sense to me that they would make these without offering a Blued option. 3h"

You should try and review some more Dan Wessons. Those guns are the only production pistols to my knowledge that are still hand fitted with all forged steel parts to near perfection! Ya I know youve done some in the past but that line of guns dont get enough praise IMHO because the next step up would be a one off custom gun that cost several thousand dollars.

It's ludicrous hearing the gossip about the company. They could be sitting on piles of money, but it's as if there's not a single enthusiast in the entire management to green light this stuff. Even if it were a cheesy character version like guitars get- the standard model, with artificially aged and worn grips and a faux patina, it would've sold mountains worth!
@dgunearthed7859
@dgunearthed7859 2 года назад
If one of the Colt corporate types would hear that, they would reply "you don't know anything about business". Just like when I emailed PSA and asked if they could slap a fin grip on one of their ak's so they could sell it to me as "California-compliant" because if they did, they could sell a bunch more to Cali. They flat out told me no they wouldn't do that like Atlantic Firearms. Guess what, they NOW have a "California Compliant" section. No, they don't listen to the little people like us, until the do. You're welcome PSA. I'll take my check now. lol

The barrel on the Colt Python is a true one piece design. The recess you see at the business end of the “barrel recess.” It is designed to protect the rifling in the barrel in case it its dropped.

I got one of the first 4.25s last february right from the factory. living in CT, and knowing what a dumpster fire this state is, it gives me pride that at least we have/had colt. Have had no side plate issues btw. I think this review was (per usual) absolutely spot on. I especially like how the python was viewed through the realistic lens of being a modern release. it's as good as we could have expected, if not better, at a price point that is aspirational but not unobtainable.

Mine had issues. My 4.25” Python was manufactured in March 2021. I got it in August brand new and within 48 hours it was on it’s way back to Colt still unfired. The crane for the cylinder seized up in the closed position. I noticed it started to feel tight opening and closing the cylinder until it just locked up on me. The release latch pulled back as normal, the cylinder just wouldn’t swing out. Thankfully it was unloaded, because you *couldn’t* open it to unload if it was. I got it back a week ago after about 30 days in the factory and it’s fixed, for now. They said they fixed it but didn’t go into detail what was wrong with it, and test fired it. They must have test fired it a lot, because the cylinder face had significant burns on it. Probably 50 rounds at least. Way more carbon than what was on it when it went back (again unfired). I haven’t fired it yet, but so far it seems fine just dry firing it and opening the cylinder 3 or 4 dozen times since I got it back. Assuming nothing goes wrong with it in the future, it’s still a very nice gun.

I got mine February 21. I’ve run 18 boxes of 50 through it and perfect. I’ve gone over every inch of this gun and it is flawless. Beautiful fit and finish. The reason Pythons were hand fit years ago is because machining wasn’t as precise as today’s cnc machines. If you open the cylinder, the second generation will have a stamped L on it, meaning it has all of the initial flaws corrected. The triggers are great. My SA is 3.4 lbs. DA is 9. Both smooth as glass, super crisp. The accuracy is superb. I paid $1600 out the door. All I can say is the gun I have is great, it’s run perfectly and worth every penny to me. It’s not a tactical gun, it’s not a competition gun, it’s just a fun shooter and a classic. There are other .357 out there, and probably just as good, but at the end of the day, they aren’t a Python

I just meant there's a lot of hate for the show from people like us for all the incorrect gun noise sound effects, rifles with no sights, etc. I still think it has been a good show most of the time. Even if it got a bit woke later on. The use of the python is both comical and badass simultaneously. I actually just caught up to where judith uses it after a few year hiatus from watching. Funny, I remember Rick refers to it as a .44 magnum at some point, but I'm pretty positive it's not an anaconda. Judith must be shooting .38s ha. Shows and entertainment like this are all just mental masturbation anyways. Sometimes it's ok to get a little escape from reality and enjoy something you know isn't real though.

No more problems with them. I did sell that gun, but only because it had a 6" barrel, and I have almost a fetish for a 4" barrel revolver. I've got two of them now, and haven't had a problem with either. VERY good guns. I was happy to hear you say you liked the grips. I thought I was the only one. I'm with you, I wouldn't change them. I just picked up the 4.25 Python March 2022 after having wanted the S&W 686 for a while. When I tell you I'm in love with this piece of steel - I mean IN LOVE!! The sights are good, pretty accurate firing. I've run .357's and .38 Specials through it without issue (.357 is more fun) and the recoil on this slightly shorter barrel is not bad at all. Oh and it's a beautiful piece to boot. If you happen to run across one in the gun store, hop on it, because they rarely become available.

Thanks buddy, you nailed this review. I had a Python I got in 1976 great gun. It was my duty gun for a lot of years. It had a 6-inch barrel, original. I wore it out; It needed new everything; I rebuilt it with a 4-inch barrel. Later gave it to my son who is a LEO. It was good to give him this weapon. No problems at all, I just miss it. So, I think I'm going shopping for one tomorrow. Take care.

Awsome GRV Nutn. Thanks for what you do and for showing us the new production Pythons. I also wanted Colt to bring back the snake guns, especially the Python. When the King Cobra came out, it got my hopes up and I was not disappointed. I have an original production Diamondback. My dad bought it new in 1967 and it came to me when he passed. I have always wanted a Python, but like you said, the price is steep, if you can find one. Maybe the price on the originals will come down, but at $1500 a Python might be in reach, at least if I can get out of California (no compliant models), but that is another story. At any rate, sorry to hear you have been sick and hope you are back to feeling 100% soon.

The 1st gen Colt Python is a piece of Colt and firearms history. The 1st gen was made by true craftsmen and hand fitted. However the newer Colt Python definitely has its place, being that it’s built thicker and updated. But so far the newer Python has not slowed down the value of the 1st gen Python. It’s just like when Volkswagen re-released the Beatle. People thought the value of the old ones would go down. I do totally agree if you’re wanting to shoot heavy and hot .357 mags, then the new Python is the way to go. But I love my 1967 6 inch and my 1977 4 inch. And in the future, I plan on buying a new 3 inch Python. Thanks for your videos, they are always very informative.

I have much more love for the 44 than the 357, but still want a Python and and so glad Colt's has reintroduced these fine pistols! BTW if you will rap your support hand thumb over the back of your strong hand, you can get a lightening quick re-cock of the pistol when in single action using your weak thumb and not disturb your firing grip. 18:55: Cylinder latch moves to the rear. This is a far superior system over S&W, as is Colt's clockwise revolving cylinder. This is the reason Colt's DA revolvers have never needed to reinforce the latch system which helps keep the gun's action smoother. The cylinder latch presses forward, so under recoil the mass of the gun is being shoved back, while the light-weight, spring-loaded latch plunder is being pressed forward - result: super strong, reliable lock up! Also, the hand moves up alongside the left side of the cylinder creating a secondary barrier to the cylinder being able to move laterally out of the frame. S&W's are the exact opposite. When the cylinder is rotating on a Colt, it's being torqued into the frame and this allows the hand or pawl to be fitted to a zero tolerance standard. With an S&W, the hand pushing up and alongside the ratchet, torques it "out" of the frame and you can actually SEE a tiny gap appear between frame and crane as the cylinder is rotating! This is why S&W's need the front detent lock up as well... Colt only needs the one at the rear. Everything that was "wrong" with the original Python has been addressed on the new one. Improved steel, vastly superior, close-tolerance machining that results in more accurate parts than hand-fitting, and the parts can be swapped from one gun to another without fitment. The use of high-tech "powdered steels" - long used in the making of top-quality knife blades that are stronger with superior edge-taking and retention, also make superior lock parts because they can be compressed into perfect shapes too complex for machine work, and have smaller grain structures than steel parts made by casting molten steel into small shapes. They also don't form stress points that lead to breakage. This isn't new, S&W has been using these improved manufacturing technologies in their New Classic series and the guns come factory perfect with amazing triggers, better tolerances, and with slight internal redesign thanks to CAD, new revolver fire control parts are less prone to the dreaded short-stroke trigger jam, or short-stroke cylinder rotate without the hammer cocking!
