My suggestion will be for a Scorpio as it has a much sturdy ladder frame chassis and also will take the harshness of the village roads more easily.

Do visit a Service Centre... Looks like a possible worn out Braking system (Brake Pads / Disc).

@@anishriv they said brake pads life is 7-8k kms left.. the car is only driven 10k kms.. and they checked discs also they are fine.. they said jo problem.. the sound comes sometimes as your pads are now 10k kms old and only 7-8k of their life's are left .. so they can make noise.. but he feels it's veryy dangerous sound and it makes him scared.. have u ever encountered such issue?

@@akarshchauhan Not exactly because even if a slightest sound/issue comes then I immediately visit the Service Centre... As I already told you that the Sound maybe from a worn out Disc or Pad so it is required to get changed... Life of the parts also can depend upon the way a person drives. Maybe there has been harsh brakings or some issues. Worn out Brake Pads can also be the reason for Brake failure so better to get it changed as alrdy it has run for 10K kms

@@anishriv oh yup u are right .. thanx bro.. I guess service centre in our area doesn't have that experienced staff.. they either misleads or are not able to find the problem.. it's really a pain here in Shimla.. they just don't care about users lives.. seems like they always want to loot money.. it's an example of poor mahindra services here.. can we raise a complaint or something about the service centre somewhere? As about brakes they never cared of what u said like brake failure or something.. they just said him u can drive it till another 20k service.. they don't care if some miss happening happens

Yes... A 4x4 Scorpio is better in Offroading compared to XUV500 AWD mainly because of the difference in Chassis (Ladder frame)

Thanks for the reply Sir... I also said "Not exactly" as the question asked was abt TCS... Although both TCS & ESP use somewhat similar mechanism but still there is a difference in their usage. Technically as per my knowledge, TCS controls the Wheelspins even on a straight line drive whereas ESP maintains the direction in which U want to steer maybe on a bending road or if ur vehicle swerves by using ABS & Brakes. Also U may Turn Off TCS as per requirement during driving but Turning Off ESP is never recommended !

AWD simply splits the power in a 50:50 ratio to both the axles in XUV500... It may not be that effective as a proper 4x4 mechanism with MLD or LSD so therefore, the wheel which is probably not on the ground also will be rotating. AWD Lock is Switched On if you require to tackle a tricky situation like mud or lower traction area so that with equal power to all 4 wheels you can get out of it.

@@anishriv but is there any way to check that AWD lock is working fine? Coz it doesn't show different results when activated than if a vehicle is in auto mode.. a friend of mine got stuck and the left side back tyre wasn't having any traction and vehicle wasn't pulling and he engaged AWD lock still the same result! Only two tyres(left side front and back) that were stuck were spinning and other two where not if they would have got power the vehicle could have come out easily of the situation! Is that a malfunction and how to check awd lock functioning? Or is that normal?

The AWD of XUV has always been a controversial topic... I hv seen ur query on Anshuman Sir's channel too... Well personally speaking, I hv also nt felt much of a difference while pressing the AWD Lock. It can also be because of the fact tht alrdy the XUV splits power automatically whn slip is detected. But manually if U wnt to apply AWD thn the Lock has to be pressed. Whenever using the AWD, We have to Switch Off the ESP too as most of the times it cuts extra power during slip detection and therefore, the power split is not visible.

One simple but might be a tricky idea can be to lift both your Front wheels of XUV on a Jack, Apply the AWD Lock and engage the 1st or 2nd Gear... If suddenly the Rear Wheels give a jerk to rotate then definitely the AWD is working. But have to look about your surroundings too as nothing shud get damaged if the Car suddenly goes off the Jack.

@@anishriv yup right i asked the same on that channel but he didn't replied.. awd lock mode seems very useless to me and I don't remember if my friend ever tried the esp off switch.. we once went to narkanda with my fortuner and his xuv and xuv climbed really well upto a point where a very unusual thing happened.. 3 wheels were spinning 1 was not.. and that wasn't the case with fortuner.. i climbed the point with some hard wheel spin but xuv just didn't moved at all.. ya I know AWD is not a proper 4x4 but the thing is that equal powers were not delivered to all wheels aa all 4 should spin in snow.. and about testing i guess u are right i will definitely try it.. but what about if i pick the car up from middle? By using 2 jacks? And then try giving power when all 4 wheels are in the air.. would that work too?

AWD Lock works Ok... But yes if you are comparing it with proper 4x4 then it may not be so effective... AWD Lock in XUV just distributes Engine Power in 50:50 ratio to both the axles. Addition to it the Traction control (ESP) also gets activated for any slippage detected in the wheels.

@@anishriv ahh thanx.. but is there any chances of malfunctioning if i activate AWD lock in running vehicle? I mean 10kmph or so!

Not exactly... Its still 200 mm... But yes with Footsteps, it reduces. Also the articulation is not that gr8 as compared to a proper 4x4.
