I think it's a great release. A co-op version of Necromunda is both cool, but also fixes a lot of onboarding problems with the starter box. In this way you and your mate/parents etc. can potentially play a campaign without needing 4 extra players, two tables full of terrain and an arbritrator. I really like it! Wether it's a bummer there's no terrain? Depends on the price I think. If they follow their current trend of (somewhat) cheaper boxes due to very little terrain I'll be happy. They might of course still smack a hefty price tag on it and then it will be less cool. I'm also stoked about the horror aspect and very stoked about piloting psychopathic aristocrats in nu-munda.
Looking at the specialists in the Van Saar gang, I'm cautiously optimistic for some kill team rules for them too. Two elite spyrers and eight humans would be a solid mix.
I've always had a soft spot for Spyrer's. The Malcadon in particular. I think most of the new models look brilliant. The new weapons just look Mean. But I can't say I like the Orrus. The arms just don't flow into the huge torso like they used to. My only other issue is that all the Jakara, Malcadon & Yeld bodies are female. I'd have liked a mix
The spireres look very infinty-like to me. Maybe it's the paint. I do like this new direction, and the minis. I'll have to mod the GS models so they don't look like my other hive scum. A good problem to have.
Been waiting to hear your opinion on this new set dude, personally I'm very excited for it after ash wastes. The the whole theme of the box is something I didn't know I wanted
I am looking forward to the big box. The models look amazing and i always wanted to paint some van saar. The game itself? Well it depends on the rules and stuff. But since i currently have an interest in cyberpunk these could work well for some models and terrain for custom games and/or ttrpg cyberpunk games
The box looks great, did i spot a sniper rifle for the VS? I also like the split between the Spyrers, i always thought the Orrus should be a bit more of a tank. I'm happy to reserve judgement on the other 3 until I get my hands on a couple of boxes and see how differently they can be made. Spyrer leader with all the options sounds interesting as well.
I think we’re gonna be seeing these lighter starter boxes for Necromunda “seasons” from now on, cheaper for GW to produce and technically cheaper to new players getting in. Still kind of a shame, I loved Dark Uprising, even though it was quite a huge blow to the wallet! Been really looking forward to seeing what they would do with a re-imagined Spyrer aesthetic and I’m not disappointed, they look pretty unique and of a different sci-fi style than other things, really makes them stand out as the rich nobles they are. I never ran them back in 95, but played against them many times and actually enjoyed the challenge. I think they’ll fit right in as they stand with how all gangs having their own specialities and strengths in the current setting. We'll see where the price point sits. I'm mainly interested in those mutants. I have 12 unassembled hive scum, so presumably I can pop any extra heads on those to fill out the roster.
Excited for models and rules, as you’ve said the rest is redundant. I’m hoping that the buy in will be lower, around the $250aud before discounts. Hope to see this lead into more Xenos, chaos stuff in the new/old hive

The Orrus Spyrer looks amazing! ;-) I expect the box to be sold out in second-and-a-half and that GW's store will crash, and that scalpers will get the lot...but if I CAN find it in a shop, I will certainly buy it! I dont think we will ever see the likes of Dark Uprising box again. It was insane value for money, and with the scalping, and almost permanent sold out status of GW terrain, it feels unlikely.
@@wellywoodwargaming Sad but predictable. GW has a huge scaling problem. There are kits that are always popular, namely big value kits with loads of terrain. they sell out instantly, and go up for resale at stupid prices that no rational person will pay. GW needs a division primarily focused on terrain, or at least a warehouse and dedicated moulds to pump that shit out. It is a literal money printer of an idea. Make shit loads of terrain, sell it at a discount and everyone will actually buy it. noone wants to but the dark uprising box set piecemeal at 3x markup from original selling price, and thats what GW charges. the actual box is going for 400 quid on ebay.
I might be wrong but i'm thinking this may be a cheaper box , after the huge outlay for the Ashwastes box perhaps GW realised not everyone was able to / wanted to drop $450 on a starter set . Fingers Xd we are back around $200-$250ish for this one no huge pile of terrain, paper mats, 2 gangs, dice, rules and templates I think we might be pleasantly surprised . At least I hope we are .
I have fond memories of my friend absolutely trashing me time after time with his various Spyres 😂 14 year old me didn’t like them much… 🤔😅 these new models have lost some of the charm but do look very very cool.
So much love in the community for Spyrers but for me it’s the Malstrains I’ll be trying to get my hands on, for my 40k GSC and possibly for Necromunda too. Serious question: what exactly is so scary about a genestealer’s taint?
I think the contents of this box are really light on the terrain side, unfortunately I don't think the price will reflect that. They could of at least given us the old cardboard tiles
I like it, except the mat. I don't have any bulkheads so I can do with them, the cultists where a bit disappointing, the genestealers are nice, i would have prefered more mutation on them though. I like the vansars, and spyers. The main problem is that the spyers look like the vansar, although it might be the painting doing that. Thinking of how to do spyrers that are more inspired by delaque esthetics. ahh well it feels like delaque would fit better on the genestealer side here though, oh well ill come up with something. Nice hearing your point of it though.
Excepting the scum, I love the models, *especially* the love for GSCs. I am wondering if there will be a new 'version' of GSCs available in this new rulebook. Something like 'regular' GSC vs 'corrupted' GSC, either exclusive or able to be intermingled (like Cawdor/Redemptionists?). I'm excited, and hope it is affordable - maybe one of the pluses of the lame terrain options will be a lower price tag? I like the new Van Saars, and LOVE the Spyrers (their extra activations gives a very 'Predator' feel which I love, especially having a solo Spyrer as a GM tool). I guess there goes my tax return lol...
I'm glad we're finally getting something, but this is probably the most underwhelming of all the Necromunda big box sets released thus far. Still no Delaque news in sight, either.
I know you dont like spyres but i think its worth it just for games night. I can have all the boys together and do the running man with their champs (think its too brutal killing their leaders...) against some spyres with some campaign lore and fun rewards to go with it. More of a d&d p v e experience but i think it would be fun not to have the guys not against each other so they can build some of their dides personalities and skills.
Chances are you could but much like Ash wastes I suspect the rules will be slimed down and only have resources for the relevant campaign. Which, for starting, maybe a more complicated starting point.
I have the old tiles so it's fine but a paperboard is just insulting at their prices. I'm still not over the crappy paperboard from the incredibly expensive Ash Wastes box.
Really underwhelmed by this box set.... very poor. As a fan of the original Spyrers I can't make my mind up if I like the new designs to be honest. I will probably buy them anyway.... maybe they will grow on me!
Mildly underwhelmed; seems like a way of stripping Munda down to a 2-player lunch-break game, but if that helps bring folks in I'm for it. If it's under £100 I'll probably get it. I'm just happy Munda is still being supported. Good times
Think the box is wank tbh, we know its going to be over 100 gbp most likely and i just dont think its worth it with the state of the terrain / paper board. Ill just pick up the bits i want from ebay
With the exception of the models, and chunky rule book and cool looking dice, this is a bit let down, price increases with poor quality board, re-released hive scum. Most likely a miss for me.
