The video doesn't actually demonstrate the process as it is described. The key to success was to make sure the machine was off when you start holding the start button for six seconds.
Nice theory. In reality, this machine is doing absolutely different things and it takes forever. If you considering to buy Nespresso machine - think twice. Buying it was an expensive mistake I made.
Descaling directions are incomplete on BOTH this video and the manual that came with my Expert machine. I called Nespresso and obtained excellent support staff. Karen walked me through process, for 29 minutes. She provided very clear directions and good advice. Mission accomplished. I love using my NESPRESSO Expert machine. But I advise anyone descaling this machine to contact phone support to walk you through the process. I had to unplug my machine during the process, likely to reboot it.
Nespresso advised me to follow the descaling procedure. As the procedure did not start after several attempts, I called Nespresso again today. They told me that they can't do anything, i.e. they can't send the coffee machine to the lab,
It worked for me. Just turn off the machine then turn it back on without pressing any button. Hold the brew button till it starts blinking and from there you can follow the video. The whole 6 seconds doesnt work so just hold till it starts blinking ( 9 -12 sec)
I am amazed at all the moaning that the descaling process is too complicated! My only complaint about this video is that the man does not pronounce his "t"s properly - I keep shouting at him!
I tried yesterday to descale this machine and was very confused about how to proceed. I have found that the problem is that this machine is very, very sensitive. In order to finish the descaling process you need to trick this machine. The process started normally and then midway it stopped. There are two reasons why the machine stops: 1) no more water available or 2) the tray needs cleaning. Every time the machine stopped, i added more water (although there was still plenty of water) and i removed the tray, emptied and cleaned the tray. I did this for 4-5 times and then the machine just emptied all water without a stop and it got out of the descaling process. Works flawlessly again. I personally love this machine. We also have the nespresso essenza but this is miles better.
Why does the video and the german description say 2 units or 2 bags but You answered one comment that you only need one? I just put two. Is that a problem? Did I waste one?
