I like your method of testing Jenko. It gives a great hands on perspective of how these coils really shape up in the field. Well done.

Thanks Sean, yes I like doing testing on my coils/ detectors and I thought I would share the test on RU-vid for others that might be interested. That’s how my channel started. Thanks for your feedback mate

Interesting test results. I guess the advantage is size to weight as with the 12NF compared to to orig 14". I've been running the 17x13 and have noticed it seems more stable than the 12NF. I am able to push the machine in to the normal mode with a lower sensitivity. Covering more ground...Im loving it (might go out now if the rain holds off!) look forward to your next vid on settings. Cheers

Good video, I like the 12" z coil. I have this 17 elliptical on the way. I was hoping for a little more advantage on the 17 over the stock 14. I typically run in extra deep and scan low and slow after I've creamed all the surface/obvious signals in my gold patches. I'll go back to my hammered old patches once I get this coil in the mail. I appreciate your time on your videos. New subscriber

Yes I use the 12 inch coil most of the time
@noosaitalianrestaurantpizz7537
Good test thanks.Just few suggestions for the advanced prospector: weights of the coils, area of the test(so we can understand more or less the mineralisation) and while you swinging if you can change angle of the swing will help to ear different signals. Thanks again for your test mate!

Hi Craig I have done the same tests as I have just bought the 17x13 . I found not much in it but you are covering more ground and pinpointing is easier . You will find that nuggets over 1 ounce will perform better also good to poke under bushes . I also found tends to run slightly quieter in very hot ground . All in all it’s a very well made coil probably not a nessesity but nice to have in the arsenal
@jenkosgoldadventures
@jenkosgoldadventures Год назад
Cheers Maurice. Yes I have heard it’s more stable then the other coils, can’t wait to run it over some old patches. Do you have any preferred settings?

@@jenkosgoldadventures most of the time I run general , difficult low smoothing volume limit 8 volume 9 with the steelphase or b and z booster up . By running lower volume I find the Machine runs smoother but the booster needs to be turned up if looking for big gold over 2 ounces I haven’t found anything that touches a 5000 or 4500 with a 25 inch dd running in normal and audio on quiet .

Slightly more depth with the NF but only marginal. I have to say I think the standard settings probably favour the standard coil. I’ll get out and try adjusting the settings to see if that makes a difference. Thanks for watching, I enjoy your videos too mate 👍

Need to turn sensitivity up and try on general depth and normal ground type. Just found a 4.2 Grammer that was round over 2 feet deep in solid bedrock on a steep hillside
@jenkosgoldadventures
@jenkosgoldadventures Год назад
Thanks I’ll give that a go. But normally normal ground setting is unusable in my area especially on a high sensitivity

Not sure but whats the standard setting? Difficult or Normal? Keen to see this vid done again shifting between both?

I suspect that I'm a bit like you, in my views on this coil. I bought the NF17 a few months ago, hoping to resurrect the initial performance of the GPZ in central Vic. When the GPZ was first released, I found quite a few nuggets weighing an ounce or more using the standard coil. I (so far) have been a bit disappointed with the 17 coil. I have found nothing over a gram or 2 with it. I think I would have found those using the NF12, or the std 14. Ground coverage is an argument that you could use, but because the coil is quite sensitive at the ends, you tend to swing V slowly, so that you don't miss the 0.04 nuggets. I wonder if this slow swing speed may make you miss the larger faint inverted signals.
@jenkosgoldadventures
@jenkosgoldadventures Год назад
Yes mate I’m the same found bigger nuggets with the 14. But to be far those nuggets are gone now.

After watching this test, I wouldn't rush out to waste my money on the new over rated 17 X 13 Z coil. Prefer the 14 inch & 19 inch.

I think the standard settings probably are best for the standard coil… I plan on adjusting the settings with the NF to try and get better depth keep an eye out for that video

Slightly off topic, but I run X-Coils on my 7000. To many different types to be a fair comparison but to clean up a patch, I'd be using a concentric. Have got a 6 grammer that screamed 300mm deep with the x-coil 15 inch cc (sensitivity 20 difficult HY) - I find the 17cc gives me more ground noise. As with other comments here, I don't see the NF 17X13 as a significant replacement for the ML14X13. A well tuned ear on either "should" give very similar results. The larger coil has more ground coverage and you can poke the nose into tighter areas. And the NF is "minimally" more stable.
@jenkosgoldadventures
@jenkosgoldadventures Год назад
Yes mate agree. Pretty some settings adjustments will get some more depth. I have only heard good things about the x coils
