So Glad I Came To RU-vid University!! I Was Thinking I Had To Drop The Trans To Get To The Rear Main!! Hold It Down In SDCA!! I Used To Live In Mira Mesa!!
@R Mac, all it takes is dropping the oil pan. Haha for sure man, I bet you were familiar with Miramar college. Thats where I initially started college so I became familiar with the area. Best of luck in you project.
Thank you Coolbreeze LB, the rear main seal is scary. I made sure to take my time on it since I didn't want to mess up anything with the crank. Thanks for the comment 👍.
Harry Aguilar, I'm sure its similar since its the same 4.2L engine. The only difference may be the way the fuel lines run along the engine. My jeep is carbuerated so this may be the only difference to a fuel injected engine. Hope this helps, thanks 🙏🙏
Good question Paulina & Rudy, during this installation I waited an entire 24 hours so the gasket could cure since I installed it during a cold raining day. Over precautions on my behalf. I would say a couple hours during a good sunny day. 👍👍
The 4.0 you got there is a beastman don't get rid of it look up ( monster horse power) straight 6 build on RU-vid.it shows how using the 4.2L crank shaft and piston rods and get 304 horsepower with a budget build use a 7120 head to
Is your Jeep a 4.0 or 4.2 liter? I need to do this but having trouble finding which seal I need for my 4.2l, the one with the ears for the bottom seal or without?
@@revenantjeep I was actually looking for the rear main seal the 4.2 takes, I finally found a forum with pictures for the one I needed. Thanks for the reply, not looking forward to the repair!
Great video man. I`m gonna do the same on mine soon. Where did you get that oilpan from? Never seen one with that plate/armour underneet here in Norway. Do you have a link for that. Thank you !
Hello Sportingen, thank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏, glad my video reached you over in Norway, Salute. The oil pan is a spectra premium product and you can it from an auto part website called rock auto, check it out. www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/jeep,1989,wrangler,4.2l+258cid+l6,1401714,engine,oil+pan,5562
@@revenantjeep yea to rebuild that it's not worth the time or money. You can put a 4.8 or 5.3 gm v8 and be able to drive anywhere with great gas mileage unlike the 4.0
Thanks Bobby for checking out the video. Well at least for this 1989 Yj carb engine you won't have too. There is just a connector the holds the fuels lines by the oil pan bolt but once you remove it, there is plenty of wiggle room to move the fuel lines. No need to disconnect.
Revenant Jeep awesome thank you. Yea I’ve been working on a 90 yj with the 4.2 so carb as well. Nice to know didn’t want to crawl under to realize I didn’t have room. Keep up the good vids 👍
Damn Wesboy 101, that is one stubborn gasket. If I recall, I had a tough time breaking the pan loose but your best shot is to just chisel the gasket to avoid damage to the metal surface. Or just get two mallets and beat it good. Good luck bro!!🤙👍
