I always look to see what watch you're wearing! Omega, Longines, Hamilton and Rado would love to see a state of your collection video!

I haven't worn a watch for years, I was a painter sprayer all my working life and always buggered them up through wearing them at work, but found your video very interesting, they're a beautiful piece of workmanship and far more pleasing to the eye than squinting at my mobile phone to check the time when I'm out and about, watching this (no pun intended) has made me think about wearing a watch again, Cheers Stuart, enjoy your weekend, 👍

Sir, i just found out your video while looking for more information about this same watch in this same colorway. Thank you so much for scholing us in metal and its use in watchmaking, and for this besutiful video. I do believe these beauties are meant to be worn everyday at all occasions, and not sit in a drawer somewhere just for once a year parties and dinners. I'm really considering pushing the trigger on this one.

I have an Orient Kamasu, red dial. Fine watch; good looking, robust, and most importantly accurate.👌🏽✌🏾

Very good video as always. In particular, is the appreciation of the engineering of motorcycle production shares with the intricacies and engineering of timepieces.

I enjoyed watches up till my forties, I decided to just wear a watch each day with a soft edge as I am a PT and work with patients all day and didn't want to have pulls on clothing during the session. Anyways, love a nice watch. Thanks for the video Stu! Always a pleasure

I'm also a mechanical/automatic watch enthusiast. I wanted some information on the Mako 3 and when your video started with you working on your Enfield I was sold on watching the entire video, liking and subscribing because I'm also a motorcycle enthusiast! Cheers from the United States, and safe riding!

As a kid I was given a gold Timex/Cyma? (don't remember and can't find it) that had belonged to a long passed great uncle. The watch had a hinged flip back and front and you could observe the intricate mechanicals. It is a thing of great beauty and mechanical excellence. I was obsessed with, and worn wind or auto watches from that point. Sadly Timex/ Cyma? main hair spring now broken and I was the culprit. Very interesting vid thanks Stu.

When I was young I could only wear wind up watches cause digital watches would just stop working really quickly my Auntie was the same. Something to do with to much electricity in body they reckoned.

I could believe that of you RR although I've heard that before re digital watches. So wind up watch would suit you I bet you used to wind up the teaches and your parents as well.

Funny since Stu's vid I've been looking for that bloody watch I don't think it was a Timex I think it was a Cyma. Packed away somerwhere safe anyway... sure is safe from me finding it haha.

Great video, Stu! I also watched that video with Rebecca Struthers, and am also ordering her book - her knowledge and enthusiasm firmly held my attention. Your take on polished versus brushed case finishes caught me off-guard...it makes a ton of sense. Great to see the Mako III working well for you - I just added my first new watch in a while to NY small collection, Seiko's 5 Sports GMT, and absolutely love it.

In regards with brush finish, for the bracelet you can redo it with the green part of a Scotch Brite. There are some tutorials online, but first exercise on some soft tin/aluminium, or old bracelet if you want to go self brushing.

It's interesting that you describe your fascination with mechanical watches in that way Stuart, it was very familiar with me - I love watches and old clocks for the same reason - not how they look or that they can be 'posh'. I love that it's just springs, little cogs, tiny wheels, and yet they'll keep a track of all those thousands of seconds a day and only lose a couple in 24hrs. I have a few old clocks about 200yrs old and the fact that they still keep going after all that time - mate I love that. My daily watch is a Sinn 356 and I'll be bloody buried in that bugger.

Thanks, Stu! I was considering adding an Orient watch to my collection. Though my collection is biased more towards quartz watches, I have three automatics in my collection. I have a Seiko SRPD27 diver and a SRPG37 field watch, both of which use the 4R36 movement. I also have an Islander ISL-187 field watch; it has a Seiko NH36 movement, which is an unbranded 4R36. I swapped the Islander's stock strap though; I didn't like the strap that came with it, so I put in a NATO strap instead.

I was a (very amateur) horologist for years...but the cost put me in the doghouse. Sold most of them now, but I am a tool watch guy - SINN, Fortis, Ball to name a few. I was out of control for a while, so I've settled in with an Apple Watch and a few Seiko Baby Tuna's - great affordable diving watches that last. My first watch as a kid was a $9 Timex. I just bought a new Timex in their "expedition" range, and it's a phenomenal watch for under $200 (on sale). Brought be back to being a kid and how much I loved that simple little watch! Ride Safe 🙏🏼

Nice looking watch, I will follow your links for TUS and also will look up Rebecca Struthers.Timepieces, like motorcycles, are masterpieces of engineering and should be appreciated whether you use one regularly or not.Keep varying your content as this makes following you more intersting.

This video was impressive because you are actually (gasp!) wearing the watch in the real world. I am frustrated when some reviewer is trying to show off some watch while wearing cotton gloves so that they don't damage it from contact with human skin. I own two Orient watches and like the one in this video, both of mine are highly tolerant of metal-to-skin contact. I look for that feature when I buy my watches. 😊

Top watch I’ve had one for 3 years , crystal glass no scratches and for a relatively cheap automatic watch it is amazingly accurate not more than 5 seconds a month loss.

Haha, nice little piece about a nice little piece, uncle Stu. But it struck me as amusing that we only got the article about the toughest, most rugged and totally waterproofed watch because, outside, it was too wet. 😂 Sorry, Stu, couldn't resist it. Phil

@dumitruion9115
@dumitruion9115 Год назад
Lorier is beautiful, and it is an old school manufacturer. Granted there where some complaints about quality check. I have gone with the standard Baltic divers, beautiful beads of rice bracelet, in blue. Look up for the other old german brands, Laco, Stiwa, Damasko or if you got a bit more Sinn (I am keeping myself awat from the 356 chronographs, next birthy maybe).

It's a seiko, the Japanese keep these for themselves lovely looking dial, seiko by far makes the best value for money dials, just don't be using a hammer when using these mechanical watches, so many small internal parts to shock damage, enjoying the video

Great video Stu ! ,, I like Orient but are a Seiko man through and through , mostly divers from SUMO's , Turtles , 62MAS , Monsters , SKX's , Samurai , etc. 7S36 to 6R35 movement's all well made and reliable . Yes the mechanical watch is a beautiful machine .

I have a hard time not wearing a mechanical watch. I've been wearing the same one ( day and night) for over 15 years. I work in an aerospace machine shop so I've learned that a good quality piece just has to be made well but doesn't mean it should cost a small fortune.

Interesting comments on the polished v brushed finishes . I wonder how many non watch enthusiast viewers will be concerned about you rinsing the watch under the tap?lol.

well if a 200M diver cant stand rinsing under a tap we have a major problem with the product!

Although compared to the Kamasu, the crown is an improvement, I cant justify the large jump in price. Until the price comes down to around $200 - 230 I'll stick to the iconic Kamasu

Retired and time doesn't matter? If you're retired time is growing short isn't it? Always have one eye on the time, but as an industrial electrician never could wear a wrist watch. Still it's a nice watch and you can enjoy it more than a pocket watch.
