In this episode of our restaurant review vlog we visit Antoine’s Restaurant for a traditional New Orleans lunch with a group of New Orleans gents. New Orleans has a lot of great old restaurants in the city and many of those are in the New Orleans French Quarter and the oldest restaurant in New Orleans is Antoine’s. Join me for a visit to the New Orleans French Quarter at Antoine’s as we enjoy this veritable New Orleans Creole food museum for our restaurant review video. In this New Orleans Creole food review video we will enjoy lunch and find the answer to a New Orleans mystery located inside one of Antoine’s French Quarter dining rooms? Antoine’s Restaurant is not just the oldest restaurant in New Orleans as it is also the oldest family-run restaurant in the USA. This restaurant had its start when Antoine Alciatore immigrated from France and opened what came to be known as Antoine’s Restaurant in 1840 and the restaurant is still owned and operated by fifth generation relatives of the original founder. Antoine’s has become world-renowned for their French-Creole cuisine, impeccable service, and unique atmosphere that have created a legendary dining experience in New Orleans since 1840. Antoine’s is the birthplace of such culinary classics as Oysters Rockefeller, Eggs Sardou and Pommes de Terre Souffles. Antoine’s is located in the French Quarter at 713 St Louis Street.

A video showing how a duck press is used would be really cool.

I have another video with the duck press in use link below. It is a wheel with a screw that you just turn the wheel and the screw presses down to press down on the duck. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JdgQRxmlbQY.html

I did not know that about the Mystery Room. Very cool history! The Japanese Room upstairs is beautiful! Great space for a party with a small jazz quartet!

I will always respect Antoine's for representing our Carnival Krewes. I had the start of my Bachelor Party in the Escargot Room. And my father always had his big celebrations in the Rex Room or the Mystery Room. I'm ready for the Duck Press dinner! - The Commodore

We need a nice domesticated duck as they have more fat for more flavor!

Somebody ordered some expensive wine and the wine cost alone was more than the food so that was a bit of a rude move as I didn't get any of that wine! So it was actually even more affordable than the final price with the wine included.

Another great video. 👍 If I may ask. How did the NOLA Gents begin/history and what are the nicknames of all the NOLA Gents including yours? I think it's pretty cool. 😊😊

My wife and I are planning our first visit in July. Could someone please explain to me to reasoning behind the skull? I could have easily missed it. Is this one of the “krewes” we’ve heard about?

There is a connection with both a Krewe and a fraternity that several members of the group are connected to.

The last time I know they used the one at Antoine's was in 2019 so we might need to put it back to use 😀

@@NOLAGent1 The only way I thought that was years ago I saw an episode of Great Chefs of New Orleans with Jamie Shannon from Commanders and he was using one.

@@tomware4193 I missed that episode and so far the only show I've seen feature a duck press was one of Anthony Bourdain's when he was in France. I know some people used the one at Antoine's back in 2019...

Dude, I know French can be challenging, but, for the love of all things holy, it is “laissez les bons temps rouler.” Plural. Yikes, you lost ANY credibility you may have sought. 👎
@NOLAGent1

The expression Laissez les bons temps rouler is gramatically incoreect in France French but it is fine as a Cajun French phrase. The phrase is a calque of the English phrase "let the good times roll", that is, a word-for-word translation of the English phrase into Cajun French. New Orleans doesn' really have any of its French dialect left and NOLA didn't speak Cajun dialect French. I took the spelling from a NOLA bar as English, French and most other languages tend to all be pronounced and/or spelled differently around here. So if you get a chance visit the 24/7 Le Bon Temps Roule bar for some good music and good times. We could also get into the different dialects of French just in France not to mention all the rest around the world. I sure had trouble understanding the French in Montpellier, France when I was in school there after only studying "proper" Parisian French. While I was there I also watched Qubecoise films that were subtitled as apparently plenty of people in France have challenges understanding that dialect as well. lbtrnola.com/
