I thought the old one was a waste of time, i could always play the demo in blockbuster ya know?😄 But now that i have a 2 and 4 year old, this looks like a definite purchase
Back then everyone thought the game was way to short (finished in a few hours), but very much fun to play. The new one isn't short bus has everything the old one had and more.
Good job, you were close, you were close, you were close, you were close you were close, you were close, you were close, you were close you were close, you were close, you were close, you were close.
If only the mainline games still delivered on that.. These days the "adventure" feels more like a guided tour where you just move through a linear region from point A to B..
The original was really special to me as a kid, I played that game soooo much. Now I'm nearly 30 and the nostalgia factor is through the roof. I instantly picked this up on launch day and I'm not disappointed! Such a beautiful game and something good to just chill and enjoy all it has to offer. Now this makes me want a Pokemon Stadium remake!
My favorite part is when you get your photos reviewed and it's just "good job" "good job" "nice photo" "good job" over and over again brings back so many memories
In terms of animation and graphics, ABSOLUTELY YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I think they should have someone else do the gameplay or supervise it, gamefreak needs a cities worth of employees. Though that would take a lot of resources to do
@@ThePhant0m100 I know they can do it, would it pay off, from what I have seen from BW/BW2 it wouldn’t, some people are saying the reson why the games are bad is because they don’t think it’s worth the money to invest in new employees and the old ones didnt have enough time to properly adjust to new software ever since the 3DS because more complex systems so they end up doing sloppy coding like the lillie model in SM/USUM because they dont know better, the employees are having a hard time making the games, as in they aren’t given enough time to learn and they dont know there is a faster way to do it equals them slowing the process thus having to cutting content because they have to release it at the end of the year, they should overhaul their employees or hire a few new people to supervise their employees so they can learn shortcutsso they can polish the game, but hey thats just a theory A GAME THEORY
for those of you that wannna get this game, its heavily coated in playing and replaying a million times. if you dont like replay ability, you'll probably hate this game. also you can use both joysticks to make your camera go faster. im a very new pokemon fan, and snap is super fun, really happy i got it
A majority of us are Old Head Pokemon fans, we have are biases and nostalgic affection towards the first 3-4 Gens.. But to think that 25 years of Pokemon later and todays kids are going to be just as influenced and passionate about Their "Generation' of Pokemon as we are about ours.
I completely disagree.. Mainly because the games these days don't really leave a lasting impression but rather they're just another game to be played through and then discarded. Pokemon games used to be very special, at least to me they were when I was a kid. I'd have hundreds of hours in them and I'd take my time beating them. It really felt like an adventure and nothing was more exciting than getting to explore a brand new region with its own unique places and mysteries. Now? Ever since gen 7 the games have been nothing but guided tours through linear short regions.. The handholding is extreme and the games so easy that I can hardly imagine even kids getting an interesting and lasting experience from them. I can forever remember amazing moments like diving into the Distortion World to find Giratina.. Or even moments like getting lost in the Blizzards on Mt.Coronet and finding my way to Snowpoint city where it lightly snows while a calm piano theme plays. These are just a fraction of examples I could mention... I don't think gen 7 and especially 8 has anything like this in them... There's some cool moments but I can't ever imagine kids remembering them after 20 years like I do now. And that's a damn shame. At least New Pokemon Snap is a breeze of fresh air with genuine effort and passion behind it. Pokemon have never felt more living! I really hope the game does well.. It's my one ray of hope for the future of better Pokemon games.
@@yiangaruga4928 you realize that kids today already do, ppl’s first game is most likely going to have a impression on them that’s how YOU feel and see the games today not kids damn near everyone has attachment and nostalgia to their first gen of pokémon, gen 6 even tho not well received but older players in the kids eyes are one of their favorite games and is nostalgic this whole thing is ur opinion on how u feel towards the games not how really how you think kids would feel
@@yiangaruga4928 you can look at gen 1 and 2 which are one the worst gens with a bunch of problems still have a lot of fans and nostalgia for some ppl, and i played oras when i was in 4th grade and sun and moon in 6th and i still to this day have nostalgia
I cant believe they brought back Todd. Also I loved the N64 game cause of all the different ways you could get pokemon to pop out or do funny things. Finding Dragonite and Mew was awesome as a kid.
Though I miss some of the interactivity of the old one (knocking Charmander into the volcano, exploding an Electrode to reveal the new area), this was a wonderful experience to play through. It does have some interactions with the things you throw at the Pokemon (there's a really good one in the night snow level...), and for anyone who loved the old one, this is without a doubt a buy to relax to.
I adored the original when it came out. Even though it was short and this new one keeps the feeling of the first and just runs with it like you guys said. Bandi Namco did amazing job.
It’s just a little wink the devs did to everyone who played the original. It’s nice seeing little touches like those that show they recognise the fans.
I loved in the 64 version figuring out how to hatch the legendary birds/evolve Pokémon like magikarp into gyrados by knocking him into a waterfall (which was not easy) or slowpoke into slowbro by leading him to the water’s edge so he would stick his tail into the river, and also finding secret routes by making a voltorb self-destruct a boulder or something to discover new Pokémon or the hidden “mewtwo” photo. I hope they have similar mechanics in this new version !
Hope this becomes an inspiration to more travel type of games/virtual tours. Like the virtual tours in Assassin's Creed Origins dlc. That was fun and informative, too!
@@GentlemanWiz Lol, that's assuming they'd put that much effort into splitting it into 2 by giving one an actually unique and different feature. Instead of pulling a true Gamefreak and downsizing every new generation since 5.
Og Snap was one of the coolest games that came out when I was a kid and I was super into pokemon had all the games even competed in card game matches at the local toys r us. But this game was different you actually felt like you were in the world taking pictures of pokemon. Gave me the same feeling as when i first played yellow, or Go for that matter.
Hahaha, i have memories of trying to catch a pic of mew on the original while running through that last rainbow themed area. Life was simple at one time 😅
I played the original.. and loved it!! I had to get this one!! And now my daughters are playing it and they absolutely love it!! It’s fun to take the pictures.. but when you have to get those rare shots.. that’s where the real magic is!!!
It was the 2nd game in 10 years that I bought full price. I wasn't excited for cyberpunk, I was excited to finally have 1 game that didn't let me down...lol
I played the original back when it released on the N64, rented it at Blockbuster lol. It was a fun game and I'm glad to see that the same energy is there in the new one. When I found out about this last year I got excited and even facilitated the purchase of a Switch during the mass shortage. I'll be picking this up soon, thanks for the review👍🏿
I remember when I was younger, I really really wanted Pokemon Snap and I just never got it. We were kinda tight on money though... But now I can buy it for myself! :D Now for that new remade Hey You Pikachu...
I played the hell out of the N64 Snap, & have definitely been considering this one since the first whisper of it in production. Unfortunately Nintendo won't do the price on this one for years, so I'll probably end up paying full price, & hopefully a great expansion pack will follow.
@@karltee7862 It worth the $60. So many area, level, pokemon, goals etc Their way more to do then it appear and it way harder then it sound. Like in the beginning I play the first 3 level like 3-5 time each just to unlock the new area. You gotta work hard and keep your eye and head clear. You gotta figure out what to do to get certain picture to unlock new goals and area. It not just going to an area, snap some picture, and boom next level. It like hmmm which pokemon, pose, stance, and mood do I need to get? How do I make them bigger? How to make them turn around? Face me? etc and the time limit as the round are short make it harder. It a lot of fun and relaxing. There so much to do. Plus tons of editing and things to unlock.
I would love to see a Pokémon game kinda like ark where you play first person and get to explore the world catching Pokémon and learning about their behavior for a professor. And eventually you can buy a house and stuff. Like a farm and make areas for them to live
The only problem I have as a 1st gen fan is that I haven't played Pokemon since Silver/Gold. So I have no idea who or what the new pokemon are, which removes some of the excitement for me. However I still feel that nostalgia!
I made a Picture of Pitchu with Grookey next to it. Grookey is only seen as a small green sliver at the edge of the picture. The game counted it as a Grookey foto and gave a lot of points for it.
Question Jake. I was wondering if you think there’s enough content to warrant paying the 60$ at launch? Loved the original but it was fairly short so I was curious on your take?
I absolutely loved the first one as a kid. The problem is that as an adult i can beat the game in about 2 hours. I was hoping you'd talk a bit more about game length, since I'm not sure I wanna drop 60 on a 2 hour game.
I only knew of the existence of the original because I asked for Pokemon stadium and got Pokemon SNAP. I was so mad, until a few years older I could appreciate the game
Played the original when u was a kid had really fond memories im so glad this new one is out it looks great looking forward to playing it when I can get a switch
Hardcore fan here, have been since I first saw the anime. I was a little too old for a lot of people to accept me being into Pokémon (I was a sophomore in High School when it came out), but I didn't care. Of course, when I found out about Pokémon Snap, I had to give it a try, so I spent a weekend at my friend's house with us playing through the game. IIRC, we got all the way to Mew within the first day.
When I first heard about this, I was really hoping for a Breath of the Wild style open-world game. That would have been absolutely amazing! Although, I have no doubt I'll enjoy what we were given regardless.
I'm getting my son this next week I showed him the trailer and he lost his mind he loves Pokemon but the main games are too much for him he doesn't get it yet but I know he will 🧡
