@@j0404t Tesla's are boring now. when people talk about 3s and Ys it's always about practicality. People don't buy sports cars or luxury cars because they're practical, it's because they're status symbols. Right now, if you own a tesla, it's the equivalent to owning a toyota or honda. People are officially tired of cheap, boring teslas, regardless of their practicality and charging network cause everyone has one. A luxury segment for BEVs WILL be a thing. it's just reality.

To me the P4 is not an SUV, it's a slighly lifted liftback. I think it looks great regardless of its actual classification.

Agreed! Polestar 4 is a much more complete package. Although the Tesla is an impressive car, the fact that one has to go into a menu to adjust the vents is a deal breaker right away. To me, this is hypercomplexity masquerading as simplicity.

I have a Model Y and I hope to get a Polestar 4 next year when it goes on sale in Europe. However, calling them competitors is a stretch. The Polestar 4 is much more expensive as the Model Y is getting cheaper by the month

Hands down, it's the Polestar 4. Tesla is only premium based on its battery tech and software. The interior/exterior design is understandably somewhat safe, but for a car of the future, it's Polestar, which actually looks like the future and does simple in an interesting and characterful way.

I have a Model Y and I'd choose the Polestar 4 if they were the same price. Sadly they're not, I bought my LR for $51k. The Polestar starts at 60k.

Direct competitor? Not in Belgium :D I mean, the PS2 is not enough a competitor for M3. The MY is waaaaay cheaper than equal specced PS2's and thus also PS4's... Like talking 10-15k difference. With PS4's it'll be 20k difference for sure.

PS2 2024 is as good and even better than the Model 3. So it’s all good. Polestar cost more then Tesla in all ways but it’s becouse polestar is a more special brand and only the best can have one.

@@andreasl4507 I own a PS2 LE Performance.. I bought it for a reason, I know Polestar is different. But pure efficiency, etc, Tesla still has the edge in that + pricing. (In my country at least) But that doesn't mean it's subjectively better. The MY24 update is good yes but objective, raw spec for spec, etc.. Tesla still has the edge. But Polestar doesn't cater to the masses and it shouldn't. It's no volume brand, Tesla is. Anyways, no use on responding on a 10month old comment tbh. 😅

Design is easy, Polestar 4 all the way. Even how they drive… having driven both the model Y and Polestar 2, the Polestar feels more comfortable and a nicer place to be, and feels much better built. They’re both fun to drive but I’ll quickly take the 4 over the Y.

I never really liked the Tesla designs, but I do appreciate their good aerodynamics. Polestar on the other hand has some seriously handsome models on the market with the 3 and the 4. But I feel that they have sacrificed aerodynamics a little bit for design. I wish you made a video on the Xpeng g6, because thats the one that should be compared to the Model Y...

The Polstar 4 sacrificed a rear view window to give you the space of an SUV and instead the window is now a camera that displays an image of what you would see on a now rear view mirror screen display.

The Tesla acceleration number 3.5 mentioned in the beginning is with rollout. So what Tesla is presenting is actually 6-100 km/h. If they'd been more honest and actually presented 0-100 then the 2 cars acceleration times would be pretty much a tie

I’m a Tesla fanboy but I like the Polestar design. I could make plenty of arguments for getting a Tesla, but the Polestar looks fantastic. It’s much better than the weird Korean EV designs.

The design of the Polestar 4 is just as conflicting as the design of the new Toyota Crown, but it's flipped. With the Polestar 4, they say it's an SUV, yet people think it looks like a sedan, while Toyota says the Crown is a sedan, but people say it's an SUV. xD

The Polestar 4 isn’t an SUV. It’s a crossover SUV coupe. The Polestar 3 is the SUV. The Model Y is not the competitor, Porsche, BMW etc are the competitors. The P4 is a luxury car, where Teslas are definitely not.

I was having a chat with someone at Polestar, and their thinking is that the Polestar 3 and 4 release price won’t be the entry level price. With this being similar to how the Polestar 2 was initially released at a higher spec with lower specs coming later. But this is purely speculative.

the cut line on the rear deck of the polestar is non-functional. It's just there to prevent the rear deck from looking overly large.

The Polestar 4 pretty much reminds me of the Škoda Enyaq RS Coupé, which is a fastback SUV, cuz the actual Enyaq IS an actual SUV. I'd love to hear your opinion on that Czech EV, even though that car is only sold in Europe. Also, you are totally right: the design of Teslas not only outdated, but also fall behind competition when you have EVs like the IONIQ 5 or KIA EV 6 on the market. The powertrain and tech of Tesla might still be superior to the competition, but as you state in your videos, they interior and exterior design just feel cheap, lazy and uninteresting... Making Tesla really to compete with the likes of Volkswagen: cheap boxes on four wheels that get you from A to B, nothing else.

Yes, but if you rule out the design alone, EV6 or I5 or most others cannot compete with Tesla ..EV6 doesnt even have OTA capabilities:) Tesla is simpel in many ways, but feels lightyears ahead of most in the most important areas. I alone love YP look and it has grown more on me the last weeks. It is a freaking amazing car

I usually agree with your design-thoughts, but I don't get the Tesla Y. It has good tech, it is roomy, it is very reasonable priced (Norway), but I can't see the beautiness in the design.

Tesla rely needs to rethink the minimalistic interiur now that many more ev are comming adding a 100$ display behind the steeringwheel for eample is not going to kill them

It's not really minimalistic. It's more workspace environment. Polestar is minimalist. There is some attention paid to details in minimalism.

Polestar 4 Already orderd. Got the tesla y 2023. But polestar 4 is an upgrade for me. The rear window is totally shit in Tesla. Can’t see nothing so the Polestar 4 back camera gonna be a greater option.

The Tesla looks so unrefined in comparison to the Polestar. Easy win for the Polestar 4! I think the 4 looks more SUV then the Tesla which looks more like a MVP/Minivan in shape.

Correction and this is for a lot of people. Polestar is a Swedish brand and not a Chinese brand. And the car is based on Zeekr001 and that is a Swedish design, not a Chinese design. Because Polestar or Volvo or owned by a Chinese brand does not make them Chinese brands. Polestar is run by former Volvo engineers and designers. It is a Swedish brand that started off as a racing brand, then the sports tuner for Volvo (and you can find the Volvo s60 and XC60 Polestar, the so called sleeper cars from Volvo available for sales now). Geely really has little to do with the content in Volvos and certainly doesn't style them. A different styling team styles Volvos vs. Geely cars or other Geely brands so there is no connection to cars styled by Polestar vs. those from Volvo and Polestar. There are two exceptions but these are still Swedish designed cars. The Volvo EM90 is based on the Zeekr009 and is a rebrand. The Polestar 4 is a reskin of the Zeekr001, and if you Google who designed that car, it was done by teams in Sweden, but Zeekr, not Polestar, teams. Polestar adapted from the Zeekr style in the Polestar 4. The Polestar 3 is very different as it was entirely designed by Polestar as is the 2, 5 and 6. Only the 4 is based on.a Zeekr. As for Zeekr, it is a CEVT car and is partially engineered in Sweden. It is a co-Chinese/Swedish vehicle. And as for platforms, the Polestar 4 rides on the Geely SEA platform. But before anyone says that's Chinese, the chief engineer of that project is an ex-Saab engineer named Kent Bovellan. So, for the most part, Geely is using some Swedish design and engineering in some of their brands (along with some Chinese engineering). Also, Geely is a group and brand. Geely Holding, the group, owns Polestar, Volvo, Lotus, etc. while Geely Auto, is a Chinese market brand similar to how Volkswagen is a brand and group.

So most people here would buy the Polestar..thats a bomb:) Buys on look alone, not knowing how good the tech is or how effiecient it is. YP for me, not much can beat it. Yes, the Polestar is better looking for most, inside and outside, but I love the YP on all levels. May be a bit getting used to, but when you do, you wont really miss any of the features you see in other cars, but; You will have what in my opinion is the very best hifisystem, the best infotainment system, amazing heatpump, amazing effiency, amazing space, no1 safety,updates very often and awesome drivehandling. This is what matters for most, not nice decor on armrest or ambient lightning. I think Polestar will age much quicker than a Tesla YP. Im not saying the Tesla wins on all acounts, and opinions will ofcourse vary, but Tesla is damn impressive and theres a reason its so popular (Im from Norway, tested more than 21 electric cars and even if some elements is better in other cars, the things that should be most important in a car, the Tesla provides

@@vincentohanlon Well, it was before maybe..but honestly, on normal roads, highways and stuff, its a very comfortable car..suspension on 023 models are way better than before. There are ofcourse much softer, boat like suspensions, but would rather have the YP and its amazing handling compared to driving a car with boat feel. But to each its own

@@Mr.Relaxed not sure about the roads in Norway, but I would also guess that the roads are generally in much better condition than in North America. Our roads in places are pretty bad with potholes, rough surfaces, and other things that make stiff or bad suspension that much more punishing. I’ve also never had complaints about the Tesla suspension in the few I’ve ridden in, but have mostly driven/ridden in economy cars (cheaper Hondas, Toyotas, etc.) throughout my life that are not as insulated from the road noise/surface.

@@Mr.RelaxedAbsolutely, sporty does not mean bad. But Tesla suspension has been quite bad. I have heard new ones are better. Tesla's philosophy is to create as cheap cars as possible in it is definitely visible all over. Does that matter is then more personal taste I guess. Still -23 M3P was quite unsophisticated in my taste (superb would not be word I would use with Tesla chassis tuning) ... Polestars are in quite different level. For my wife both probably would be perfectly OK, but I like things which are with quality and made with love to make great products. Just not cheap products. But that said, cheap can be still pretty good value for money.

I prefer Model Y, exterior & interior. Almost almost perfect. It just needs a driver display/instrument cluster display to be more driver-friendly. Polestar exterior isn't too bad, but interior is ugly, in the cockpit area, the center console specifically, very very very ugly.

If the question was "which do I like more" then Polestar is my choice. But the question is “which do I buy”. My answer is TMY, no doubt. Polestar (maybe) looks better, but I don’t gonna buy new car to left it locked in my garage. Except for design, Tesla is a way better in every other (and more important, when You want to ride it) aspects.

Polestar 4 it clearly the winner. 1) Neither car is an SUV and the traditional sense. The Polestar reminds me more of the Ford Mach-E. I’m not sure why you want to make the Tesla an SUV. It is not and never has been. 2) The Tesla is VERY dated. The Polestar 4 design is contemporary. 3) Although, I like both Kia-Hyundai’s and Cadillac Lyriq’s interiors non-over reliance on the tablet much better.

The design of the Tesla is not even close to that of the Polestar. The front is terrible, the interior terribly boring. Had Polestar not had the black plastic details at the bottom of the side, it would be more like an SUV, it makes the car more elegant. The interior is also considerably more luxurious and well-designed

Tesla is far cheaper yet shorter by 9 cm. 4,75 vs 4,84 m. And widthwise Model Y is 1978 cm vs 2140 cm of Polestar 4. It's still a big enough car at least for Europeans I guess. I considered Model Y instead of my W177 Mercedes A Class and quickly decided against it. I couldn't justify the interior even against an A Class. Polestar's interior doesn't inspire good things either. Those iPad integrated interiors with minimal physical buttons seem more like an abomination by the day. Polestar looks like a Lambo Urus. The resemblance is almost like on purpose to my eyes. I think if I had to choose I'd go for Model Y but I'd probably still get a Mercedes EQC thx to its physical buttons everywhere. It looks dated now but at least it wouldn't drive me crazy when fiddling around

The exaggerated "swoopy" sculpting on all the Tesla models is looking tired and dated, and the tumblehome on the 3 and Y is bizarrely awkward.

It's not. It's a different platform and Polestar 2 is designed by Volvo 5 years earlier than the Polestar 4, which is based on the framework of a Zeekr001. They're nothing alike. The 4 is a lot larger as well.

If it was based on design, I’d take the Polestar….. but unfortunately it’s not just about design. Even at 4 years old, the Tesla is STILL the better car. The Model Y to me looks best in all black with the black wheels or all white with the black wheels.

@@plastiquemaraj8839 They are incredibly efficient. Don’t just take my word for it though, there are tons of comparison tests on the internet. My Model Y in particular is averaging 230wh/miles over 2 years of ownership and 20,000 miles. They are also incredibly space efficient, reliable, and still have the best charging infrastructure. Tesla also don’t get enough credit for their software prowess, but they are amongst the best in that regard as well. Now, the cars are incredibly boring, I can admit that. After 2 years some of the lust has definitely wore off. But as a functional vehicle, it is still best in class. I get 250 miles of range, I have 3 rows of seats, I have a bigger trunk and frunk, I have a tow hitch and 3,500lbs of towing limit, all of things that I use daily that this Polestar and many other competitors (GV60, Ionic 5, EV6, Mach E, XC40, RX450e) cannot do. The charging network is the mail in the coffin.

@@JH-Carbon No I have not driven it, but we have the XC40 Recharge, Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 as examples. The Polestar 3 for example has a 27% bigger battery than the Model Y yet Polestar only quotes 300 miles of range. The Model Y LR is quoted at 330. And no you won’t get that in the real world, but I’ve gotten 295 which is still impressive for only having a 75kWh battery. The XC40 Recharge doesn’t get anywhere close to the Model Y’a range despite being significantly smaller. This is not a knock on Polestar, Tesla had a 10 year head start, and it shows. The Model Y is appliance perfected.

Tesla are designed purely to be aerodynamic and efficient, without any superfluous additions. This means they are neutral and somewhat boring, even if great to drive. YOLO, so as the owner of a Y LR, an excellent car don't get me wrong, I do hope Tesla get braver with industrial design in future vehicles. Polestars are fantastic looking, although less efficient and therefore don't offer such a long range. We need a mix of great design and efficiency from Tesla or a new player.

I loved Teslas approach in the beginning, the commitment to classic styling and minimalism was refreshing and interesting. At this point, so many companies both legacy automakers and startups are taking the same minimalist approach, but adding much more quality, craftsmanship, and braver design with some personality/signature. It makes it hard to get excited about Teslas now. Good, functional cars, but more like buying a new dishwasher or smartphone

The P4 has LONGER range than the MY. It is a larger battery for one thing that enables that long range. Per mile though the P4 use more energy than the MY, thereby the lower efficiency

the Tesla is a fat lump and has been since the beginning (now it looks dated too) - and the rear 3/4 view is horrendously unbalanced. neither car is an SUV, that's marketing, so forget that. on design alone the Polestar has so many design features whilst the Tesla is guilty of being a blob.

They didn't copy the Y. The Y has a back window and no driver's display, for instance. These are quite different cars.

The polestar 4 interior is a Tesla copy. The rear is a Taycan copy. The front is Volvo. Not very authentic in my opinion.

are you kidding me with this critique of the Telsa Model Y? The model Y in terms of design is lazy and is NOT aging well. The design languish between these two cars a light years apart. I give you credit on how you like the Polestars but the comparison is a joke.

This Polestar is based on a Zeekr. Polestar is about Scandinavian design and Tesla has been called minimalism but I think it's more centered toward its interface where Polestar is into textures, muted colors and sustainable materials, basically the same sort of stuff Volvo does..
