The new one looks like an AI generated car. It brings me no emotion either good or terrible. It's just so meh. The front looks like a Chinese fish. Nothing interesting at all still looks like an Egg. Still no HUD or gauge clusters or stalks. Car just screams plain jane.
@@RayNLAtbh I think the old model 3 looks so cute and don't mind the design lmao. New one makes me feel like they are just trying to cut costs with the lights, front lights are so much smaller and the rear lights have had a massive chunk taken out of them and to save money they even made the light a single bar design instead of being split like the old one when u open the trunk so as to save more money cuz they only need 1 light assembly instead of 2
It took a Marcus video for me to know what was actually different in the car. Thank you! I watched so many spy videos and the RU-vidr would say how much different and better it looked and I never saw a difference. You helped me understand it!
Kinda ruins the new Model S too. They’ll have to make it alot nicer to justify the price difference between the 3. Features like massaging seats, rear ventilated seats, power frunk, etc will help
🎉everything is nice but the color makes this car so attractive. The wheels are great lights are pretty and the shape is very nice. I mostly like the nice suspension. If the seats are not hard but cushy, that would be wonderful.
Man, you're really tempting me, but I love my 2018 Model 3 Performance! Still, I would like the cooled seats and quieter ride. It's hard to believe they even managed to improve the stereo too. It was already so good.

I feel like Tesla had a slam dunk with this one. It feels so refreshed.
All the did was change bumper tail lights and seats lol this will all bolt on the other older cars and I’ll be the first to do the face lift watch and learn
Those hooks on the bottom of the doors are for safety reason. They help to protect the occupants of the car more in the event of a side collision so that the door doesn't collapse inwards so easily.
Great review. We have our red model 3 on order and your review just confirmed our thoughts about the car. We already have the Y, which we adore; however, I am looking forward to the quieter ride as well as a softer suspension. Cheers!
Thank you for taking the time to provide a professional and well done review. Test drove one last night. Thoroughly enjoyed. Will be getting one. From Virginia, USA
That steel protrusion (3:36 mark) at the bottom of the door is for higher occupant safety. The door sill will interlock with the lower door protrusion in a collision.
Great, no nonsense video. I have this in blue - it’s a really good car. Best hidden feature is Joe Mode, the cabin is so quiet it makes all the bongs and electric sounds much quieter.
Joe Mode has been in previous model 3 and Y as well. Alert/system sound will be quieter. The guy named Joe asked Elon Musk on twitter to have this mode because his babe wakes up while sleeping in the car due to system loud sounds.
I purchased both a Model 3 and Model Y a year apart and both have a design in the bottom aero panel underneath the cars. In both cases, a screw or bolt came off and allowed for a portion of the front of this panel to flop down, and hence start to hit the road any time you go through a dip in the road. Eventually, this break off while driving. Also, when it rained, the cars would collect water underneath and get into the underside. This caused mildew and I had to replace the cabin filter earlier. Both cars were less than one year old. Getting both aero panels replaced cost me about $400 each from Tesla. They did not consider this to be covered by warranty. This is a design flaw that needs to be fixed by Tesla. If you do a google search on this subject, you’ll find multiple instances of this by other people.
I just ordered this car last week (upgrading from a 2013 Hyundai Sonata), I've watched probably a hundred reviews on this car and I am surprised to have learned some new stuff specifically from your review. Thanks man!
It's kind of nuts, I did so much research eat slept and breathed model 3 before I bought it and I expected the wow factor and excitement about it to fade like every other car but it's honestly my favourite thing I own. Excited to drive it every day after 3 years now
Interesting. I am upgrading from a 2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited with 171,000 miles. The car has been great but the 2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range will be a HUGE improvement and upgrade. I ordered mine white on white with stock wheels. Congratulations!
Wrong…. This Tesla if you could even call it a car is barely mild refresh if fiat or VW did this people would complain massively. I would say this people give like Tesla like a mile and everyone else an inch. These cars are mediocre at best.
@neubauerjoseph I have driven both Tesla Model 3 and VW ID.4 (both old versions). The old Model 3 is better, sorry. And I am a fan of VW. Range, ride, performance, tech all better in the Model 3. Cabin environment in the ID.4 was better, in fairness. I wouldn't buy either though frankly. I find the Tesla interior too sparse. And I don't like the stalkless steering wheel. If I were to buy a car, it would be a Polestar 2 or 4.
Maybe the quietness is a bonus of this feature? Marques didn't say it because he had a gut feeling it made it more quiet. Remember, he got this from Tesla so most info he got directly from them.
@@stampedetrail2003 there are manual releases on all the doors. you just lift up on the handle at the front of the door armrests and it opens the door via a cable.
Drove one in Australia couple of weeks back. Main issues are - the glass roof heats up a lot and lets a lot of heat through (why Tesla doesn't do a retractable liner?); the second row seats are not very ergonomic so your legs are raised at an angle too much whereas Model Y has better comfort being a higher seating position for the legs; the lack of indicator stalks is not a great idea for when you need to indicate while still in a turn or to come out of a roundabout.
@@MEDAFamilyFilms Yes, it's MUCH cooler than the M3. Due to the addition of silver in the glass that reflects the heat. Luckily I live in Tasmania, so not the heatwaves as experience on the mainland.
I have owned this car for three months in Malaysia, where it is hot living near the equator. There have been no issues after applying Xpel tints with 35% VLT
I am waiting for my new model 3, which is due to arrive in 4 to 6 weeks. very excited, obviously. my first Tesla and your review was comforting. I gave up the $7500 tax credit by not buying the old model 3, which was a tough decision, but as you have pointed out, this is a significant improvement over the older version. you are the only reviewer who noticed the tighter turning radius, that I have seen thus far so that was a new twist I hadn't been aware of. anyway, good review.
nearing the end of 2023, Tesla announced that tax incentives would be changing but that was all they could say about that subject, so shoppers like myself were left to wonder... perhaps there would still be some tax credit? perhaps half of the old offers? it made deciding extremely difficult and many reviewers such as the one here, were similarly impressed by the highland. would you rather buy a new/old car that is basically "obsolete" as soon as you get it (original model 3) or a version that might endure for 5 or more years before another "refresh"? this debate was common at the time. I could see both sides of this issue and since money was not a huge factor I opted for a car that is better than the old model. @@fruhank
Just one thing, you mentioned 3/Y have the same interrupted glass roof but Y is more like S with a full glass roof. Great review otherwise and I agree, mini S! Can’t wait for the Y to get a similar refresh 🔥!
Picked up my refreshed M3 LR in stealth grey black interior in March🎉🎉 First EV!! I love it. It is ridiculously fast, quiet, comfortable. I love the tech and the minimalism.
Every single car review he screws up at least once. You’d think with all the money, staff, and years doing car reviews he’d not make these mistakes. He desperately needs to hire actual car people if he’s going to keep this up.
@@cyjanek7818 if he misspoke in his normal tech reviews yall wpuld call him out. John Desmond Heppolette's approach is pivotal for achieving success in the realm of online commerce. His management group has showcased outstanding effectiveness, and I also value the content available on his RU-vid channel....
John Desmond Heppolette truly appears to be knowledgeable in this field. After conducting a Google search of his full names, I thoroughly reviewed his web page, including his resume, and qualifications, which were truly impressive. I took the initiative to leave him a note and have booked a call session with him....
A few misses here. The door anchors are for improving safety for side impact from crashes and that high fidelity parking assist is being downplayed hard. You can move the graphic around to show your car in 3D space that allows you to really nail your parking. Another update, correct me if I’m wrong, only one of the old Model 3 rear boot gas struts is actually doing the lifting, which leads to unevenness of the boot lid over the years. On the new one, both struts are mechanised.
Yes but also it doesn't lift as high. Saw a video comparing the last 3 refreshes the other day and he demonstrated this one is much more likely to result in you smacking your head on the boot lid.
@@jonevansauthor Maybe, but this still opens up much more than 90% of sedans. if you can't adjust to not hit your head on this you're the issue, not the boot
@@nathansstuff1547 I disagree. It's like @Rednuii mentioned, it's something miniscule that will take some getting used to. But, after a few weeks to a month of driving it, it will become muscle memory.
@@ranishkA123 Stalks or no stalks is a dealbreaker. Roubdabouts and indicating in curves isn't impossible, but you need to pay more attention to your wheel than to the road, which is just idiotic design
Thanks for a great review covering all the bases. As a former Model 3 owner I can appreciate all the changes made. Car IS a huge improvement over the prior M3. Kinda wish it still had stalks, but at least it has the horn where it belongs!
Great review! I agree. I would pick this as my first start EV. I have the Model S 2022 Long range and I enjoy the new Mode 3 2024 Highland much more. The suspension in the new Model 3 is a game changer!
A nice, simple review for a great simple car. I also love this car, I drive a Model Y because I need the extra space, but when i drive the 3, I love how sporty and quick it is, love the view of the hood from drivers seat, something I can really see in my MY! For the price, I think it's the best car you can buy right now, gasser or EV!

@@wemakecookie side point Roundabouts: another thing North Americans have an issue with! We're starting to get them here in Southern Ontario. I have done road trips in Europe and loved how they kept traffic flowing at interchanges and intersections.
@@kenlowe-ca The US seems to be getting more roundabouts as well. I'm pretty sure your European observations match what the studies say. Roundabouts are more efficient and reduce traffic. Americans aren't known for efficiency but I hope we're getting better. Also a huge problem is it's nearly impossible walk anywhere in most of the US. Americans have it backwards they think cars mean freedom but in fact we've built it so we don't have the freedom to walk and bike to places.
@@wemakecookie there is so much air travel between cities on the coasts. Can you imagine a TGV type high speed rail link between say Boston - New York - Washington? Vegas - LA - San Fran?
@@wemakecookie Nobody around here uses turn signals in roundabouts, they are too small and fast flowing for turn signals to be reliable at anything. Even if someone is signaling they are exiting the roundabout, you can't trust what the signal is indicating, that's why no one uses signals in roundabouts around here. Maybe on really big roundabouts where traffic flows relatively slowly, signals might be beneficial, but we don't have roundabouts that big around here.

@@juanyunis I'm actually in Australia. I ordered the vehicle on 26th November and it reached Australia on the 10th of January. I probably would have had it earlier but there was a compliance issue that needed rectifying. I'm so excited to get behind the wheel.

Mine was built 3 weeks after order and then shipped to Australia from Shanghai in around 5 weeks from order. What colour, and configuration did you opt for your Model 3?@@Paul-ow9dd
My partner has had a 2024 Model 3 as a company car for 6 weeks now, and we love it. As MKBHD said, it‘s the perfect EV for beginners, even for me as a stick shift enthusiast, just so quiet and comfortable, yet quick. There is just one problem, and it‘s not the missing stalks: with the facelift, Tesla got rid of the dedicated parking sensors and also the rain sensor. The latter is a big problem, because the variable wiper interval just doesn‘t work anymore. The car almost never notices rain, and we have to use the button on the steering wheel repeatedly, except in some cases when we drive behind another car. The lighter the color of the car in front of us, the more „rain“ the car „sees“. In a queue behind a white truck, the wiper goes berserk, even in a light drizzle.
Missing stalks is a huge learning curve for anyone with prior driving experience. I can understand wanting to move away from a legacy fail point, but it is still a fundamental change. It is like driving in England on the left side of the road or the concept of roundabouts at intersections rather than stop signs and lights. (which, by the way, are fantastic once you learn how they work!) Does the current refresh rely on the cameras for sensing?
@@kenlowe-ca Tesla didn’t ditch the stalks to get rid of a fail point, but to save costs, it‘s the same as with the missing sensors. The refreshed model 3 uses only optical cameras for everything, as far as I know.
@@steno_lab We will do that, if everything else fails, but we are still hoping for a software update. Then again, you can only do so much with software.
We have one of the first dual motor model 3s delivered in Canada in October 2018. Ours is also a beautiful red, and with free software updates, it has more features than the day we bought it. We're at 110,000 km (68,000 miles), and the battery is currently at 97% of the delivered range estimates. There aren't enough feature improvements to justify us upgrading, but for anyone who was on the fence about a Tesla, DO IT! It is a fundamental paradigm shift that you will not regret embracing. Thanks for the great overview.

@@zzackkkk my replies are disappearing for some reason. Short quick reply. Half charged battery in our freezing southern ontario weather is currently showing 140 miles. My wife is out with the car, so it's changing minute by minute! I can still see it in real time with the app.
I've been driving one for 2 months now and it's great! Gear selector is easy to get used to; indicator on the steering wheel is useless in roundabouts and the suspension is so soft I'm keep knocking the bottom of the car to the kerb as I drive out of the garage 🤦♂️ thankfully I've bought flexible mud flaps, otherwise they would all be broken by now 😅 Other than that I love it. Comfortable, quiet, quick and super efficient. I can recommend ✌️
Yeah, I’m kind of worried about the soft suspension. I love the sporty feel of my 2021 Model 3. It corners like it’s on rails. May I assume the new one has much more noticeable body roll when cornering and pitch when braking?
I like the refresh for aero added range mainly. Although I added aftermarket LED interior lighting, sound insulation (and rear info center and performance download coming) I'm VERY OK with the suspension and 145mph of my LR3 23'....only depending on what a 24',+ performance model would entail will I consider a trade in.
I test drove this the other day. Definitely considering it as my first Tesla. Got a build created. Not sure if to go with the higher mileage 18" black wheels or 19" chrome ones where you lose a little range. The sound system was nice and punchy, and interior ride was quiet. Coming from a 2014 Honda accord coupe.
Also remember to use a referral to get 3 months of FSD, Tesla reps can't add it later once the order is placed. Higher mileage 18" are better, having extra range always help.
i knew a refresh was coming and still bought my model 3 in june of 2023. i wanted to lock in the $7,500 tax credit which put me at about $33,000 and i was happy to make the small sacrifice for those savings. best car i've ever owned.
Actually after looking at where the buttons are, this won't be an issue after 5 minutes and it's incredible anybody has such a small imagination that they can't comprehend how this will feel after 5 minutes.
I just test drove the car, muscle memory is hard to overcome and I kept moving my left hand for a stalk. The buttons are easy to locate by memory once you get used to it, probably takes about a week to get used to.
I got my highland since November, 3000km in, I love how it drives, I love the new interior, but now after 2 months I miss the old model 3 nose. In general I do not regret the purchase, it has lots of real range, can confirm you can get 500-550km out easily highway driving. Non Stalks are not an issue at all.
I will say in the UK those indicators are not great. We have a lot of roundabouts and I found it SUPER awkward using the indicators (blinkers as a lot of you say) while turning when the steering wheel is upside down.
Just got mine yesterday and agree with everything said in here - great video 🎉 it’s beautiful, quick, comfortable, well put together, easy to use, fun, clutter free, good amount of space…still reached out into an “empty space” a couple of times when looking for indicators but I can already see this will be a non issue in the next few days
I'm a bit triggered by the blinkers on the steering wheel. How well does that work when you have to use them while turning like in roundabouts. We have quite a few of those where I live. Also, your speed is displayed on a screen where you have to move your vision completely away from the road. I that good? Can you even see it no matter where the sunlight comes from?
Great review Marques. Other improvement he showed but did not discuss was the blind spot monitoring which is a nice addition. I believe the cameras at least front facing are now 5 MP instead of 1 MPixel. Another youtuber @WHATSINSIDEFAMILY did a 70 mph range test and was pretty close to predicted, 327 versus 333 miles, of course that will vary based on wind, temperatura and grade.
The blind spot indicator light was actually shown at 9:44 but not talked about. However, the camera zoomed in so it was pretty obvious, at least for me.
Where were you able to test drive one? My local Tesla sales and service centre (Calgary, Canada) told me they won’t have one to test drive for a long time, as all new Model 3s are going directly to customers. I’m tempted to upgrade from my 2021, but I won’t do it without a test drive. I’m concerns I won’t like the softer suspension, because I love the way my 2021 corners like it’s on rails, with minimal body roll and pitch. The sporty handling is one of my favourite features of my car. But so many other things I would love in the refresh, from the ventilated seats to the quieter cabin.
I test drove the updated M3 Highland LR AWD last Saturday (6 days ago). Really liked all the updates to it. Was stalkless that you have to get used to. But it’s only the turn signals that you really have to get used to.
@@lxnd from a safety perspective you actually don’t need turn signals to enter or exit a roundabout. As you wouldn’t enter it unless it’s safe to do so. And when you exit your path is clear anyways.
Yeah ever since they started showing what this new model was going to have, I've been saving to buy it as my first EV. Probably looking to purchase it in June. Thanks for the review!
@@UtagU_ab Yeah I've done my research on that. Unfortunately FL doesn't have all that many to take advantage of. I did put myself on the waiting list for my electric company's rebates/credits for charging during non peak hours so hopefully when I get the car it will be available. Thanks though!
Honestly you can buy an older one if you want to save money. If it’s your first, you’ll definitely be impressed either way. If you’re saving and don’t have much money you’ll want a new warranty though.
tight parking spots/quick 3 point turns seem like they would be so annoying with no stalks, plus i may be one of the weird ones but i love the wood trim on mine. the only thing this car has that i wish my m3 had is ventilated seats
Excellent review. Was thinking about the Y for the hatchback, but wasnt thrilled about the fact that it is basically a 2020 car, and I am moving from a 2014 (!) MS P85, and was a bit leery about going into an econocar. This review shows the 3 to be right for me, except possibly for the softer suspension and the lack of hatchback. But with no updated Model Y coming soon, it looks like the 3 for me. Thanks.
Improvements ! Yes I rented a 3 for 2 weeks in California single motor (base model from Hertz) and it was great. No complaint and the network of super charger in Cali is great. Then I changed for a model Y dual motor. It's higher, I 6,3 so it was less painful to get in and out of the car. But the speed in acceleration !!! OMG!! It's out of this world. The ride was better on the Y I think because of the tires. I am sold to Tesla now. Never drive before these last 3 weeks and bang! I'm hooked.
I'm anxious to see the Model 3 Highland in person. 4:50 - THANK YOU !!! The one thing I couldn't figure out is if there was a BACKUP GEAR SELECTOR in case the monitor goes out. This is the first video that showed it.
