It’s especially mind-boggling because of the unprecedented bloated budgets that these flops have! I am old enough to remember when Waterworld stunned Hollywood by blowing over 150M on a movie that grossed less than 100M worldwide, I think! That’s chump change compared to what Disney is (allegedly) wasting on their movies now!
Imagine being so progressive that you completely exclude a marginalized group of people (dwarfs) from one of the few stories where dwarfs are the hero’s 😂
I love that they had a genuine opportunity to be truly diverse and hire seven dwarf actors and give them opportunities to make their mark but that would be too close to genuine diversity.

I was a cast member extra on the set of GOT. I actually met Peter at the commissary. Cool guy. When I was a few bucks shy on my lunch, he told the cafeteria lady that he would pay the difference. When I caught up with him to pay him back, I gave him a few bucks extra to make it an even $10.00. "What's this?" He asked. "I just rounded it to ten, I said. I didn't want to short-change you." He flipped me off with the tiniest middle finger that I ever did see. Funny shit.

The irony is that we already HAD a far more "modernized" take on Snow White with "Snow White & the Huntsman," where she was depicted as a warrior clad in armor, led an army into battle, and killed the evil queen in hand-to-hand combat. That version looks like a cinematic masterpiece compared to what's being trotted out here.
Never seen that movie but sounds a lot better than this one. If they wanted a truly modern take why not do as the makers of Romeo and Juliet did(Leonardo DiCaprio one) - take a classic and put it into today's world

If I'm remembering correctly (and I am), the dwarves in Snow White were depicted as compassionate, industrious and loyal. I'm scratching my head as to what is "backwards" about that. also ... To them compassion is weakness, letting the "other side" gets ahead if they're shown any compassion. Industrious is destruction. Taking things from nature more than they should. I remember a book I read years ago where a Filipino girl played Snoe White in an elementary school classroom play because of a very small student body to choose from, and one of the class clowns called her "Snow Brown". I think of that when I see this trailer. I decided I'm going to call this movie Snow Brown and the Seven Hipsters.
Disney Pitch meeting:: Snow White doesn't refer to how she looks, no that's just a title and we can't have dwarves, so we'll just have 7 diverse people of various sizes!
I'm confident the release of this live-action remake of "Snow White" will have the same stunning and brave impact on Disney that Indy 5 had on Lucasfilm. It's all coming together in a spectacular display of fireworks for the entire world to enjoy, cheer about, and discuss at home, and in schools, for generations to come.
These movie are still making so much money in the box office. I am amazed. I think who does not support these kind of history lesson. should not support by no going to see these movie not for the review purpose also.
If you want to see a good "modern" adaptation of this fairy tale, I highly recommend _Mirror, Mirror_ starring Lily Collins as Snow White and some actual Little People as the Dwarfs. That Snow is strong-willed and independent, but she also has a heart for other people and wishes to help them. Plus, she actually does fancy the Prince when he turns up.
As a child Snow What was always my favorite Disney princess. I never saw her as weak as so many do. A weak princess couldn't care for seven men, animals, clean, sew, cook, bake, dance, and sing. And of course her kindness and empathy! She had plenty of skills. Show me a teenager that can do all that today? Growing up, she was an inspiration.♥

I guess I always thought of the dwarves from Snow White as little forest people like elves. Fantasy beings. Not that they were literally a human who happened to be little like Peter Dinklage is. Isn't that what dwarves in fantasy have always been? Like elves and knomes? But in Snow White, even if they were little people, they were honest, kind and hard working and risked their lives to save Snow White at the end. What is there to be offended by that they'd need to change that?

I really hoped they wouldnt touch the classics years ago, when all this remake garbage started. I was already annoyed that they laid hands on another century old german fairytale, Rapunzel, and called it tangled. Going all the way back to really ruin the very beginning, is really the full circle of madness.
They still have lots of remakes in the pipeline. Lilo and Stich, Moana, Bambi, The Aristocats, Mufasa, Hercules, and Part 2s of what you have seen so far.

it was very brave to cast a hispanic actress as snow white. i find it to be quite insensitive and backwards to not cast the harlem globetrotters as the seven dwarves tho.
Are these casting choices popular with normie Latinos in the U.S.? The few times I talk with this in chats with people from Argentina to Mexico most of the time people see the castings as an indicator that the movies will be boring. Perfect character with no faults are unlikeable and unrelatable.

Symbolic World Press is doing a series to honor classic fairytales. The first book is Snow White. Jonathan Pageau has a gift for being able to appreciate and explain the meaning and patterns in traditional tales to show why they are so psychologically fulfilling (except when Disney gets ahold of them). I’m recommending it as an alternative media. His graphic novel God’s Dog was the first time I looked at faith-based media and thought the world is so upside down that the cool edgy media is coming from the Christian dorks that I used to turn my nose up. Ah well, I better just roll with it

Its sad that hearing all this makes me realize that the "non-disney"/universal Snow White will now actually be closer to the original film than the Disney version. Unreal. Maybe one of the dwarves is gay, another is non-binary, the female one might be a lesbian, the other male dwarf might be a transgender, and another might identify as Chinese or Indian.
I have a cousin who is a dwarf and also lives in poverty. He could have used a job like this. Also, the reason I use to love the Disney princess movies was because of the prince’s. It showed me that a spouse should cherish his wife.

I'm convinced it's a nervous tick at this point. That Disney twitches, and we get a live action remake nobody wanted or asked for, that either bombs or is 'meh'. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to fall, namely that the evil queen is in fact misunderstood, and that it was really the toxic patriarchy that changed her from a kind perfect girl boss character to a vain and sadistic one. And that Snow White just needs to show her the way, so they can be girl bosses together, and put it to the toxic male characters that will be sad, broken old men who just need to be shown the way by a girl boss character.

Aside from the name, what does this have In common with the original movie? This isn’t even just race/height swapping, they got rid of the main plot point of Prince Charming.

It's great that these film makers have discovered this completely forgotten Brothers Grimm tale, originally written in 1812 and so forgettable that nobody had even heard of it after 1813. If those two Germans had written it the way it was today, it might have achieved untold fame and recognition and still be performed in school plays 100 years later. Alas, we will never know how successful this story might have been!

Snow White was Walts first full length animated feature. It was loved and made tons of cash. So the company stabs their own founder in the back with this horror show.
I guess if somebody would dream up a parody of a Disney remake, this would be pretty much like it. Also make at least two of the dwarfs gay and let them kiss in a way that is inconsequential to the story, so the scene can be easily removed for "special" markets. It will be perfect.
