It’s funny how SOG dresses down the tactical cosmetics despite having a tactical name, while other companies dress up their tactical styling notes while still relying on a liner lock or non-TriAd lock bar. Oh well it’s only just now that SOG moved to the much more reliable cross bar lock.

I lost my first one doing snow removal for my job. Because of how many places I have to go for my job I never even tried to look for it and ordered a new one. Even before any of this happened I would strongly recommend this new generation of sog knives. They're just damn great knives. I got my new one Wich I chose a different color and got the serrated blade (same color as the one in the video). I found the one Iost I had a feeling it might turn up but I got a new one just in case and I had an excuse I'm sure you know the feeling. I found my old one after a snowbank melted down. I took it home it was rusted up a bit but I hit it with some PB blaster worked it in and it's working perfectly. I have never been so impressed with an edc pocket knife in my life. If your shopping around and you want something as reliable as an ak this is your new knife. I can't say how happy I am to have my old and new together. Iv got the trident at too but she's to pretty.

I suggest finding a local dealer if possible when buying this knife. A lot of them have an extremely stiff keeper mechanism and you can’t open them without extreme force. There are some that are not like that though, so go to your local shop and try before you buy. Good quality knife other than that.

I got one today, I really want to remove the assisted opening spring. I want to be able to close this knife 1 handed.

@@EpicArmsandOutdoors So I just took this thing apart and I gotta say, be careful. I spent about 2 hours trying to get it back together. There are small springs in the lock bar that are a pain to deal with once taken out. I removed the pivot spring so I can actually open and close this knife one-handed. Was it worth it? Probably not

you should be able to close it one handed, got the knife today and i can one hand close with ease. just use thumb and middle finger to pull down the locks and push the blade shut with your pointer finger. perfectly safe no fingers get in the way of the blade... does take a little bit to get used to though

I CANNOT open this knife using the thumb stud ONLY......IMO - the 2 ambidextrous studs should have been placed maybe 1/8th inch further down the blade.....This would have clearly provided more leverage for opening......Does anyone have any possible suggestion for improvement and or adjustment ?...... I tried lubricating the pivot- but to no avail.....Maybe I ended up with a bad example.......looking for suggestions - other than 'strengthen my thumb"......lolol

Hope you figured this out but I also can't open the knife if I push out sideways but if I push straight up on the stud the knife opens just fine. The jimping on the stud is pretty harsh though, had to let my thumb get a bit calloused

Just got one...wish somebody would do a disassembly/reassembly video of these. I like everything about the blade...EXCEPT the thumb stud. Mine simply will. not. work. There's far too much resistance to opening, and when it DOES open the assistance is far too heavy for my liking.

I have the same exact problem it takes way to much force to deploy via thumbstuds. I have a trident at-xr that is much easier to open so I don't know what the deal is

@@ironandthesoul7618 you're kidding! I did the EXACT same thing - I got a trident as well and it was perfect. Seems like SOG realized their mistake because I went to go buy another flash and they were no longer physically in stock at the sporting goods store I went to.

I have the same knife and love it, except for the safety.... so I removed it, and it's so simple! Just position the safety lever so that the red dot is showing, then slide a metal rod (I used a very small allan key) ALL THE WAY, into the lever, the length of the lever till it stops, then lever the switch out. Then y'all see that it's just held in place with two dimples in the knife frame. Voila!!!!! No more safety.

Can’t open mine w the thumb stud at all! Have to yank it open with much difficulty by pulling on he blade with my left hand while holding it with my right! Gonna call Knifecenter and SOG Customer service. Not acceptable at all!

I had the same issue but I figured out that you have to use 2 fingers (thumb and index) to open properly. Will take some getting use to

adjust the torx. Mine was literally painful opening with the thumb stud.....and it wasn't getting any better after a week or two of use. After adjusting the torx now it easily flies open.
