A few months ago SRAM released the latest version of their top-of-the-range Eagle AXS wireless transmission, a new generation of wireless electronic gear shifting for performance-oriented riders who want to be able to shift under load. However, with high-performance components comes a premium price tag... Until now, the all-new SRAM GX.

I recently pulled the trigger and bought the Axs XX T Tyoe. Fitted it to my trail bike and it’s flipping awesome. Doddle to fit and under load gear changes are a game changer. This GX version is the same thing just a fair bit cheaper. Prefer the battery placement too, something them didn’t do on the top tier versions. Awesome kit, SRAM are knocking it our the park at the mo. Paired it up with the new Ultimate stealth brakes also. Tidies up the cockpit and cables hardly noticeable now. Such a clean look with the AxS dropper. 👌👍

I think the SRAM T-type AXS Transmission is perfect for a full power MTB; but my 17 yr old MTB with Shimano Deore XT 3X10 has always shifted reliably under extreme duress going up a steep bluff in the woods! @Chunky246
@Chunky246 8 месяцев назад
It was a weak clutch for sure, but the main problem was the whole DR slopping around as there is no cable housing to keep it tensioned. This new T-Type DR doesn't move, and they have increased the tension on the clutch. Downside is they say it does wear the battery down quicker. But apparently no more chain slap.

Or HP printers where you now are being forced into a subscription service so you can print. Built in obsolescence and you get to spend another grand on the latest shifter.

I use a mechanical 1x12 sram GX and I do not really see the point of the electronic gears. I have ridden bikes with electronic gears and I do not notice the shifting difference, a few milliseconds do not really matter if only a computer can notice them, I could not really see the benefit of it in racing or hobby riding. A well installed and maintained gear cable and mec shifts perceptively just as good and within similar precision. I really wish that Sram and Shimano will not fade out developing new mechanical group sets (for now I am not sure what they plans are). Not saying that I am opposing the technology but I wish they still made both mechanical and wireless so they can please both parties. I have a feeling that soon this kind of debate will transform into one of those rim brake vs disk brake topics.

Man, this is an unreasonably hard to find product from retailers because confusingly they all still list the old one if you just search for "gx eagle axs" for example. Also many retailers don't seem to show the bash guards on the chainring but I guess there's no variants here and they've just not installed them for the shots?
@rustler08
@rustler08 11 месяцев назад
That's because you need to be searching for T-type or transmission.

great tech , but the price is way too steep for me :/ GX used to be the affordable mid range stuff. Hope this time they create an NX model or well will have to change brand.

I have exactly the same feeling as you. I really wish that Sram and Shimano will not fade out developing new mechanical group sets. Not saying that I am opposing the technology but I wish they still made both mechanical and wireless so they can please both parties. I have a feeling that soon this kind of debate will transform into one of those rim brake vs disk brake topics.

With my Canyon Lux Trail 2024 it says on the SRAM AXS Website: "This bike requires rear derailler setup in SAG postition" What does that mean? Rear shock 25% or 100% compressed? And how to do it? Just compress the bike with a tension belt between wheels and saddle while doing the setup?

How do you think, what difference are between old style x-sync sram FRONT chain rings and new T-type? Why should they be not cross-compatible? In old X-sync there also was labels everythere "only x-sync, only sram" - i managed to race XC races for two years with cheap AliExpress front chainrings with my Sram Eagle GX AXS, ~3000km. There were no single problem with it. I think in this case there are also no need to change an existing front chainrings... What do you think?

Honestly I’ve not ridden this yet but is this really a game changer? Mechanical XTR takes a ton of abuse and shifts instantly and my old Axs shifts great
