For me the styling is perfect. leave the MT/FZ agresiveness to the kids. And this one to the rest of us.

I'm a fellow sasquatch (2m tall and broad shoulders) and I found the bars to be fine for the size of the bike. If the bars are too narrow, then they are easily changed. As far as the styling, it doesn't need to look "aggressive." It's the everyman, do everything bike. I find the MT styling to be ugly and cheap looking with all of that plastic. This is a true naked, and it can stay that way.

I ve owned a SV650S K1 for over 2 years now and it's good to know that Suzuki are continuing the model some 17 years on. Sure it was and always will be built to a budget but it only needs a few relatively cheap mods to make it a brilliant handling bike. I would say to many newbies out there start off your big bike career on a twin, u have to experience it first, seriously u don't need brakes lovely torquey throttle control in the twisties and braking in commute situations. Ride a SV650 for a few years then jump on a cbr600F and basically you've ridden the best in class for their price...then compare everything you ever ride to those two bikes and regret ever having let either of them go :(
@peterlamb4730
@peterlamb4730 7 лет назад
Remember the price point of this machine.....apples for apples......and it's amazing how timeless the SV is. Don't fix what isn't broken. No need to re-invent the wheel. Those who don't like it don't deserve to own one IMHO.

Had her for almost 3000km as my main mode of transportation after moving to a larger city, great first bike and amazing commuter. Very slim, fits everywhere and you are faster than 98% of all cars off the red line. Also opened her up and hit the top speed (200-ish km/h) a few days ago, quite the adventure. Nice review and astute observations. I rode my instructor's electronically restricted Bandit with similar narrow bars once, and that bike seems similar, except it would electronically limit the revs, which is frustrating if you like to use the whole rev range. If I was restricted to A2, I would take more note of the unrestricted version of the bike instead, because the restriction will automatically expire fairly quickly.

Don't agree with you about the looks , I think the simple styling is bang on and will age well . The "kids toy" look of the MT07 is so over-stylised it looks ugly and ill balanced to me. Style is all about subtlety , and the MT has none whatsoever. In a few years the MT range will look horribly out of date. Its as though Yamaha has employed a team of 'fresh out of design school 19 year olds' and said " go for it - whatever you come up with gets put into production "

I had an sv years ago, cracking bike but the front spark plug was forever getting soaked when the roads were wet due to it being exposed ,this resulted in it running rough and one cylinder ,a kinda cure was to cover it in silicone grease which helped but it wasn't a solution . i have the gladius which in terms of the frame and engine is identical to this and it's brilliant. it's as capable as whoever is riding it, fuel economy is good and insurance is cheap, stick heated grips, a nice windscreen and a top box on it and you've got a great commuter that is fun when you take it on the country roads for a blast and perfectly capable on the motorway for travelling long distance. my only complaint is the brakes aren't great, i'm going to put braided lines and EBC HH pads on it to try and sort it out. and that engine i cannot say enough good things about it, doesn't matter where you are in the rev range just twist that throttle and it picks up speed just fine as long as you're under the ton, it doesn't do well over 100 but it's not that sort of bike it's a bike everyone should try at least once

There is a major 500€ discount on an allready low price, now at 6.395€ up until 30th of June 2018. I was wondering if it worths getting it. My concerns where practicality (i use a scooter as my daily commute) and how it is for larger ppl. I am only 6.1 but with more kg than your average joe. When you said about how good it would be if only a little more agressive, with stuff that makes ppl feel that this is more than your "general commuter" i was sold. Thats the bike i am looking for. Thanks for the video. At six foot four inches, you probably have a......slightly different view of a bike like this than most of us do (no offense intended). I am a much shorter five foot seven, and I have this bike's older sister, the 2012 DL650 V-Strom AL3. I could not imagine having a better all-rounder than mine, but I was attracted to this when I last went to my dealer (Central Japan) as it is lower than my Strom (and mine is lowered 25mm lower than stock - as are most Stroms here in Japan). The comfort , though, that is what comes to mind when I consider changing the Strom for the SV. With the stock seat and screen in mid position, the Strom is comfy for longer motorway rides at about 70-80 mph (but here the legal limit on the motorway is 80kph [50mph] so much more than 70mph is asking for ban). So would you swap a 2012 Vstrom (kept in near new condition by the main dealer) for the new SV? Thanks for your opinion.
@spicy110
@spicy110 6 лет назад
+staninjapan07 I think it you love the strom keep it! I have ridden and reviewed the 650 and I loved it! It's a better all rounder with more comfort. Nothing wrong with the SV at all but I'm not sure it has much to offer over your bike other than being a bit more sporty

I love my SV but the new ones seem so tame in comparison, like they've added stabilisers to a bike what didn't need it as its a great starter bike. That and the removal of the screen is just nonono for me.

Friend recently just got a SV650, great little bike, however i have owned a MT-07 and it's an all different animal compared. Question to yourself and the community, i am in search of a waterproof motorbike mount case for the one plus 3, i can't seem to find any. Any suggestions ?
@SixmiffedyUkvlog
@SixmiffedyUkvlog 7 лет назад
Have you tried RAM mounts? The one plus three from what I can gather is about the same size as an iPhone 6 and RAM have a great selection of mounts for with and without cases. Also the interphone pro cases on getgeared.co.uk look good and they have different mounts depending on what bike you have. They have cases suitable for phones of a similar size to the iPhone 6.

I don't know if this link will show so sorry for the double reply but here's the getgeared one at the bottom is a selection of other case sizes: www.getgeared.co.uk/interphone_pro_case_iphone_6__tubular?sc=63&category=2727278

I have a 2019 and love it. If Suzuki made an R version and simply pulled the super sport forks and shock out of their existing parts bin I would have paid an extra $2k for the bike. They have to see that many people are doing this after market. Are you listening Suzuki?

So glad I wasn't alone in thinking that exhaust needs to go. Stumpy and ugly are two words I might use to describe that stock exhaust, so if I bought one of these the first thing I'd do is get rid of that! That asides, it's a smart looking bike

I feel parrot the styling might be for insurance purposes, I mean if you have a gsxr look alike I imagine insurance would rise, due to a higher desirability from thifes etc, and being a commuter bike (and as stated a brilliant first big bike) that they thought the younger audience would be more likely to buy this bike (insurance being as expensive as it is and all). Just my opinion, but I feel it makes at least a little sense
@2002RM
@2002RM 7 лет назад
It's so disappointing. I completely agree with your view that they've dressed up a really good bike as normal, with the poor quality in the small detail and the cheap parts. The reality is that you can make so much more of the bike by replacing all the cheap or poor parts for better bits. Even then, you'll spend far less money than buying the higher priced equivalent - especially if selling the original parts. I'm just sad the Suzuki didn't even think of adding a Factory or R type option.

yeah it looks the tits..especially the exhaust. What exhaust is that..it looks amazing and sounds cool.The stock exhaust is huge and could be the ugliest part on the bike. And the tail tidy is nice as well. If I ever gonna buy this, I'd certainly go for the colour scheme...good job!

I completely disagree. I found the SV to be quite boring especially in its styling. However I found the FZ to be just better all around (more fun, aggressive, sounds nicer, and looks better). I actually bought an FZ07 over the SV650. It's weird how people are torn between these two bikes. Either they love the FZ and prefer it greatly or it's the complete opposite, they hate it and are a die hard for the SV.
@haohyou12

Its because the mt torque character is exciting compared to the sv, which is more bland. The sv gets lost in the crowd with mediocre looks and engine character

Not sure if it was released in the UK but here they restyled the SV for a few years as a "Gladius" was an absolute minger of a bike. The original SV was nice, I like this one too but it felt a bit cheap when I saw one in the flesh.

The SV650 is a very good bike and always has been.... but it became old and boring at the same time because of how long it's on the market already. :) Almost sorry to say that the MT-07 will win on almost every aspect. One couldn't wish to buy a better bike when shopping for a affordable al days usable bike. At least that's my opinion. Will love to hear and see what you think about it when you get your hands on one! ;)
