2 days ago in valencia a huge fire destroy a building with 13 floors and 130 homes in less than 50 min. 10 deads. The buildind has not fire alarm, maybe with one will be 0 deads. I love your job keep doing it, you are saving lifes.
Love how you just say it like it is. I learn a lot from you and love the overall vibe. You are right about alarms, mostly no one cares. Aside from those of us that fix em, or collectors. Some collectors have wild wild setups
Very nice alarms! They seemed to be hated on when the announcement first came out, but I actually like them a lot. Maybe even a bit better than the original version. These LED styles look a lot more modern. It’s also interesting about having the panel set the strobe candela.
Nice video! To be honest, I acually do kinda like the design of the led strobes on these alarms. They are quite sleek looking. I just like the design of the xenon strobes more. Mainly comparing the wall mount ones. They look more sleeker IMO. But for what its worth, they are still really nice. And I do like how they look just like a xenon strobe when they flash. (Totally referring to the wheelock LED exceeder)
These devices are pretty awesome, actually! Now at first I didn't really like the look of the wall mount version. But with everything that I saw on this video today. They are pretty cool!
Haters hate but, I think those notification appliances look pretty cool. I wouldn't be surprised if Gentex comes up with LED strobes, horn strobes, and speaker strobes in the future and Simplex adds true alert LED speaker strobes to their lineup.
These are nice alarms. And I think my district will install these in a new addition to an elementary school. My district is either System Sensor or Ests.
With the ceiling strobe, maybe if you somehow can find an extra spot for it, I would love for you to have it on the system. Personally, I like the ceiling mounts better because not only do they look cooler but they are more efficient in terms of wall space.
Not as bad as I thought, although I’m still not a fan of the wall mount looks. An alarm I recommend you should get is the Mircom FHS-400 i’d like to see your perspective and opinion on them, they are LED strobe alarms and they’re super good imo
People didn't like the xenon L-series when they first came out either. The problem is people seem to forget that these are a life safety device their primary function is to be effective at signalling a fire alarm. Being aesthetically pleasing is not a priority and functionally these offer much more than what they are replacing. As far as I'm concerned that is the main reason for in my opinion good redesign.
@@nics-systems-electric ^^^ People hated on the wheelock exceder, the new LED Eluxas, the new LED Edwards horn strobes, and basically anything new that comes out. It’s even funnier when meatheads say they’d install a device that’s been discontinued for decades because “they’re better”
Me too as voice evac is not common in my area which shocked, me when I found out there were L-series speaker strobes. They are the first L-series speakers I have ever seen in person.@@nics-systems-electric
I foresee that in the more distant future that a device that can support amber/white/blue LED strobe in one device will be a thing, as well as having the audio components support both low frequency, 3k, and some kind of standard 1k tone in various different patterns. Possibly a compact speaker strobe or something. Also, albeit not common now, I can see that addressable and intelligent NA will become a future reality (which could be useful for pinning down a troubled device instead of hunting a device down in a sea of devices within a given circuit). I am curious to see what the future holds but I can say that these devices will become more simpler to deal/manage/maintain with than before.
Personally I prefer the design of the old L-series strobe, I think it would have looked better if they kept the strobe lens and just put an led in it like some other led strobes
The whole device is thicker that would likely decrease strobe output this now allows for 360° of strobe coverage the device is superior over the xenon strobe it replaces you have to remember fire alarms are a safety product that is what's important not the aesthetic look
Nick the other school I went to had no pull stations no sprinkler heads. It only has smoke and heat detectors and our. Nac was system sensor, ceiling mount low frequency, sound
Yeah, I see what you’re saying about the System Sensor LED L-Series, I don’t like them because the strobes flash pretty short like the other fire alarm strobe does and they could be loud. Instead of saying the LED L-Series, I would only say the LED Series. But I see that they replaced them and it looks cool though. So I like the L-Series better just like I had one.
I can't believe people judge something like a fire alarm by its looks. It's not meant to look beautiful it's meant to alert your and get your butt out of the burning building.
Yeah, that is something that people should know is that it’s not meant for us to collect. It’s meant to be installed in buildings to alert people that there’s a fire, but we should be thankful that were able to collect fire alarms as a hobby.
I don’t think these devices look bad at all. Sure they may look a little odd, but that makes them a little bit unique (especially for being modern devices). The LED strobe lens looks kinda cool in my opinion. And yes us Americans do need voice instructions on how to evacuate, considering we’re dumber than a rock lol
I've never seen a problem with a non-voice assisted evacuation if people want to ignore it that is their choice and they can ignore both I don't know how you could hear something and not understand that it's an alarm to evacuate though. If it is a custom message with specific instructions that are non-typical for a specific building then that's different.
@@nics-systems-electricI’ve only noticed that once when the continuous bells were replaced with horn strobes at my school. The teacher had to tell the students to evacuate.
Nice video. What you said about enthusiasts hating on the design is quite true. When Wheelock first released the Eluxa, I hated on it but don’t mind it now. I originally thought these were gonna have something similar to Wheelock’s solution, having a separate selection for T3 and T3/T4 with T3/T4 being chosen via muted/unmuted sync signal. However, now I think given the FCP setting, that Honeywell will release some sort of wired addressable mounting base (and update SWIFT bases) that will send the T3/T4 and candela information to the alarm. Although, I do wonder what would happen if you powered the alarm using a silenced sync signal. My guess is it will only flash, but who knows?
Yes something definitely will be released I did try these on sync mute/audible silence in this video if that's what you mean and they do perform the same as previous models
People don't realize that the design is not everything especially appearance for a life safety device. Many don't seem to be educated enough to understand there is more to it than the appearance.
Maybe You Can Install The Ceiling Mount LED Horn Strobe On The Ceiling In Your House And Add It To Your House Fire Alarm System In The Kitchen Area Because Your Kitchen In Your House Probably Needs The Ceiling Mount LED Horn Strobe Because Kitchen Is The Most Prone Area Of Grease Fires Oven Fires Or Any Kitchen Related Fire
The house uses low frequency sounders so can't have mixed signals. A horn strobe in the kitchen would not offer any greater protection it will not do anything for detecting a fire no matter what type
Also they sound the same as the xenon L - Series. Which they're using the same horn tone which is no surprise. But honestly there is some room for improvement for System Sensor to update the LED L - Series, just like Wheelock did with the LED Exceders.
If the horns can do both temp 3 and temp 4 with panel control an idea is a normal horn strobe with a amber strobe next to it that would go off when a co alarm went off and the normal strobe when a fire alarm goes off.
Are there any specific scenarios or environments where these new LED devices would be particularly advantageous compared to older models, aside from the general benefits you've mentioned?
Fun Fact: Many new LED L-Series devices were made in September of 2023 because of the date code saying something like: "3095" the date numbers of the date code are as followed: First digit: The number of the year of it's last digit Second and third digit: The numbers of the current month Fourth digit: The number of the week of the month
As someone in the industry, what would you say is the reason why most installers go with system sensor in just about every new installation? Is there something they have that other brands don’t? Just something I’m curious about.
I think they have a pretty wide compatibility range easy to install and many distributors carry them they might have a lower cost compared to Wheelock and Gentex who are the competition
Yes I pointed that out in the video that this video was recorded at 30 FPS which usually you need at least 60 FPS to reliability capture fire alarm strobes and it is still unreliable
I wish they would come out with an LED mass horn/strobe. I have tons of System Sensor masses still in use with mass horn being coded to code 3 or temporal. Why don't System Sensor come out with an LED mass?
Their MA/SS devices are long discontinued and won’t be brought back as there’s isn’t much of a point of having multi tones for a fire alarm that only has 1 input, and Federal Signal rebrands Fulleon Roshni and Flashni sounders for when multi tone is needed
But still! It would have been awesome as all get out! Or at least it would have been interesting nonetheless to see what the System Sensor mass would have looked like in an LED version. I would imagine that the strobe would be ultra flat against the body of the mass horn and low profile and barely visible on the horn body. Do they have a 4 wire LED horn/strobe?
Nic, we installed MS10UD last October and I noticed that the piezo trouble sounder doesn't work. Reached out to Notifier/ Honeywell told me that its faulty and under warranty but they told me to coordinate with local supplier when I did that . The supplier wants me to return it and they will give me credit . How will I do that if the panel is already installed . Buy another panel? lol . Anyway is this something that is fixable or we can mickey mouse thingy?
great video nic! i can't wait to see other companies make LED versions also. QUESTION: when will the next durability test video be? Also, are you going to replace the alarms in your house with LED ones?
Not sure if there will be any more durability testing videos and no I would not replace my house that would be a huge waste for no reason would be thousands of dollars
@@nics-systems-electric You could replace the L series Xenon in your garage system with an LED one for demonstration purposes, or when the outdoor models become available replace your outdoor SRK Advances with these.
@@djbryce they are definitely very similar the strobe is centred in the ceiling device however not on the wall so that may be a difference but it's hard to tell until I open them up
I wasn't a huge fan of the design at first myself however seeing them in person they are fine in fact the ceiling mount one looks better than the older generation. If you like them or don't like them we will be seeing them all over as they will replace previous generations. functionally it is a much better product which is the main concern.
@@maiyo8518 you must be basing it purely off of looks as it is functionally a better device there is no argument there however visual appearance is a opinion that each can form
