So did it sound like a jet engine. Another reviewer talked about a specific sound this fan makes. like a thump thump did you here that.
@computer-tech-more
@computer-tech-more 11 месяцев назад
yes. i think it can be heard in the sound test section.

The Storm T3 140 seems to obliterate everything else at 100% fan speed judging by your graph at 4:30. Yes, it's 30 instead of 25 cm but it's max speed is only 1500 RPM and official specs for max cfm and mmh2o are only 113 and 2.29 respectively which are nothing special therefore I'm a little skeptical of your results (with all due respect).

The CFM test is inherently flawed. Its not a real CFM test to be honest. Like I need a flow straightener and a much longer tube but Its consistent. Every fan the same way. I have a future plans video showing what I would like to do to improve my testing with the help of viewers / funding. Basically have better testing apparatus made for me and quire better anemometer.

@@computer-tech-more Still though, how is the Storm T3 140 achieving 25% higher than even the 2nd placed fan? That's insane, you'd think it was running at 4000 RPM or something...Later in the video, the 100% fan speed chart at 21:45 seems to not only contradict the 100% fan speed chart at 4:30 but also be more inline with expected results due to the Storm T3 140 not only being down in 6th place but also being "miles" away from NF-A14 iPPC3000 and Iceberg Thermal Xtra 140. Yet the 100% fan speed chart at 4:30 completely contradicts that with the Storm 140 completely obliterating, by "miles", even the Noctua and Iceberg. How can those 2 graphs show such different relative results? Am I not understanding the graph at 4:30 correctly? The results, and relative results, of the one at 21:45 totally make sense but the one at 4:30 are bewildering to me.

@@Spinelli__ ya. I had the same thought. But I run each test the same way. and it ended up being repeatable. for the current method. Its a reason why i want to get to a point where I can actually overhaul my testing.

I must have been tired when I replied to you. The graph at 4:30 is the value not raw performance. The Storm is great value ranked that high. Look at around 3:17 to see actual performance not performance per $$. But My statement about the test being flawed is still true. Its not perfect but its good enough for now.

@@computer-tech-more Just to clarify, it's 100%-fan-speed performance / dollar?

Do you have the PWM % for the Noctua NF-A14 PPC 3000 at the 2.0 Airspeed / 25 dB point in the Cooler Air Speed vs. dB graph?
@computer-tech-more
@computer-tech-more 10 месяцев назад
well the graph yes and no. I guess I havent released the updated video for the A14 yet. but to your question the A14 at 2m/s noise is 25.1dB with a PWM of 50%

@@computer-tech-more And just to confirm, the last dot on the right for certain fans, i.e. the P14 at what looks to be 1.9 Airspeed and 24 dB or Silent Wings Pro 140 at 2.2 Airspeed / 32 dB, that's 100% PWM? EDIT: Sorry to be annoying, do you have an RPM value for that 50% PWM on the NF-A14 3000?

@computer-tech-more 10 месяцев назад
@@tsujimasen to answer question 2 first: A14 at 50% pwm is 1700RPM with 25.1dB. Yes to your first question I have a discord now. If you want to chat or ask questions there. I'm on like every other do to every day. in the evening for me. discord.gg/K8teVEW7 I am more than happy to try to answer questions either in youtube or via discord.

your channel has been vital for my consumer decisions lol, while i dont quite get all the specifics and the graphs despite this 5th grade explanation its like the barrier that stops me from making bad purchases for these products in particular. thanks for this content.

haha well im glad its helpful I would like to make it easier to understand. Ask way. what graphs are confusing. Some of my old videos (most) dont have graph labels that is something im adding as new videos role out. :)
@michtheocelot

i dont believe its the content itself though, more of a personal lack of understanding and just having to pay more attention, your explanation, and even just "this is what you should be looking for, which means x and y" helps at least with putting my brain on track with the video. for personal biases completely unrelated: id like it if your charts and anything visual takes up the entirety of the screen (with appropriate scaling of course), i feel like that empty space can work as a distractor, possibly because of the contrast (gray bg) with where the data (black, green, etc) is, its a small and meaningless nitpick but i consider it a factor as well as maybe having deeper with higher contrast for fonts and lines (for example the chart at 17:54 was one of the messiest for me visually, lots of colors, dots, the thick bright pink line and lot could be lost without your explanation), in GN fashion you could also add that visual aid that indicates when you will be moving into the next section of the review. your performance per $ is quite the outstanding piece of data imo and even if i couldnt understand the other performance charts is where i would keep my attention on which is quite powerful when compared to your mainstream fan review video. finally, a simple request: if you could upload to 1440p, while there are no issues with the current resolution/framerate it sometimes does add increased clarity esp when watching on a bigger res screen.

@@michtheocelotfirst off thank you for watching glad it was at least parcially useful. I can definitely make the graphs larger on screen. the GN sections they put on the side is probably outside my capability. I am a brute force techie meaning I read a lot to understand tech. in this case video editing is that tech. To that end I use clipchamp currently its free and limits me to 1080p. better options do exist but alas this channel is not making $$ yet. some patreons are helping but i want to save up to build a noise isolating chamber and some other things. I have a lot of videos basically recorded awaiting editing so its easy enough to make the graphs look a little bigger. My next improvement is better labeling on graphs and not having everything as dots.

@@computer-tech-more if youd like my imput, kdenlive and handbrake would be the go to FOSS options on the realm of video editing and compression, davinci resolve also exists but all of these have good documentation as well as other sources for guides like videos to help you do what you want to do, thats what i tend to use for my personal videos anyways, will stay tuned for your next project!

@@michtheocelot well yes and no. I am literally one person. I know there is better stuff. but I can load my phones video recordings and the OBS recording into it and combine it. and it works. I dont have the time with a kid to be a super editor. im sort of at lets make it good enough with video editing with my main focus on Data collection and presentation. if / when the channel grows larger to make investing more time into editing then that will come. I just want to let you know Im not dismissing you its just my current reality. I have about 1 hour a night i work on the channel stuff. some times less.
