I wish they made stuff more geared towards men. I was asked by my therapist to start daily planning. It feels really weird having a planner that has tons of positive messages for the "girl" in me 🤣🤣
I know this comment is a year late, but there are plenty of planners out there with a more minimal aesthetic! Sterling Ink (small business; they have a YT channel) is one I use, but there is also bullet journalling! Personally, I recommend starting with a bullet journal (you only need any notebook to start, as you’re building it yourself as you go). It’s a good way to get a feel for what kinds of spreads work best for you (monthly view, weekly vertical/horizontal, daily, etc.). I personally love the vertical weekly layout divided by the hour as I have a hard time visualizing my day (great if you have a lot of meetings or enjoy time-blocking). Keep in mind when you search for bullet journals you’re going to get a lot of people showing their heavily decorated journals, but if you go with the creator’s intended version (Ryder Carroll) then it’s a pared down, bare-bones layout, just a pen, no doodles. You can customize as much or as little as you like! Wishing you the best
Hi, I'm brand new to Happy Planner. I just bought 2 planners (1 to practice with) (2 for official planning) and a bunch of sticker books. I found your channel a few days ago and I've been watching your content. I've learned SO much in just a short time. I'll keep watching and learning. Thank you for the content you produce. It's very helpful and fun to watch 🙂
Wow! This was an amazing video on where to begin with Happy Planners. I am kinda new at this, so I especially loved you showing your planner at the end (goals!) - how to make it really cool using washi, stickers etc… this is the area I desperately need help in. Thanks for the upload (3 years later!)
I do not normally ever comment on videos. However, I actually found this video to be very cute! The passion you have for these planners is very endearing. I also am now highly considering jumping on the train of HP planners so thank you. This video was SO very informative.
I’m beginning this whole calendar thing and I just wanted to thank you for showing so much things. I feel much better about what I’m going to start with.
Thank you so much for your video! I’m brand new to this and just found my first classic at a thrift store. You gave me insight to just about everything! I just ordered a Big on sale and some stickers. I’m looking forward to watching your videos. ❤️
I’m new to Happy Planner and I love how you explained everything! I’ve used Target planners before but I saw HP come out with their Disney Princess collection and…it called me. This video is super informative! I can’t wait to use my stickers for Disney Princess 2021 planner 🥰
I knew just how obsessed you are when I saw all those Washi tapes! Lol! I love it! I am becoming obsessed too! I love ALL my Happy Planners and Happy notebooks!
Thank you. I've been sort of "using" a classic size dashboard layout this year. What drew me to HP was the customizable aspects because I have lifetime ongoing medical conditions, multiple doctors and specialists and, consequently, an extensive medication list. After an Evacuation a couple years ago, having to reexplain medical history to an urgent care doctor, I realized I needed a reference section to ease my injured memory. I also need a bill pay section. And a blank page "notes" section because I journal or doodle for stress. Plus, I needed a section to keep track of my mom's medical info as I was coordinating her treatment the last 3 years. I no longer need that section. I tried using my phone, and it's great for appointment reminders, etc. Unfortunately, I am programmed for pages I can jot notes on, hold, and see. I'm trying to find my groove with a planner. I have decided to downsize to a mini next year as the classic isn't as portable as I'd like. I will be sacrificing writing space for it, but I think I'll be more likely to keep it with me. And, omg, the washi tape on the lines will help define my days and sections!! Never thought about cutting the larger stickers down! I love the way the highly decorated pages look, but I'm afraid my ADHD, and difficult memory would have a hard time.
This is a great video... Im a lot clearer now... let me watch a few more.. thanks so much... and keep on linking... it make it easier for us too find....
Me too! This is so comprehensive and insightful. Im over here with my own and pad writing all the terms down and the definitions like im in school 😂 im already addicted to the sticker books too!
Thank you for this video! I have used planners for years, but not happy planners. Had actually heard the words a couple of years ago but it then didn't mean anything to me until now. This is all very cool and exciting except for the fact that I can't afford to get into this due to my very limited funds. If only there was a budget friendly happy planner. Again though, thank you for the vast amount of information...I learned a lot ☺️ !
I'm so glad to have found this video and I really appreciate it. I just recently got my first Happy Planner classic, so I am a newbie to using a Happy Planner. You have answered a lot of my questions, and even some that I didn't even think about in a nutshell! Thank you so much for sharing, and I look forward to watching more of your Happy Planning videos.
I was beginning to get a bit dizzy when you were going through ALL the sticker books... But wait, there's more. But WAIT, there's more! But wait.....there's MORE!!! 😳😳😳😳😳😳 😄😄 For now, I'm going to try to figure out WHAT to keep track of in my planner, and HOW. The idea of doing a lot of decorating is a little too overwhelming right now. It really is fascinating to see that there's this whole "planner world" filled with these beings called "Planner Girls". Thanks for sharing so much knowledge.🤗
I just have to say I am so grateful for you as well as your Patrons. I am a newbie to planning and you all have been so helpful in this new hobby. I very much appreciate all the work you put into making the videos to help us learn how to make planning creative and fun. I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Please don’t stop! ❤️
Thankyou for this video. I'm a mom of two beautiful girls. Ages 4 and 2 My 4 year old will be starting kindergarten in September. I'm nervous because I work midnights 5 or 6 days a week and I don't want to be the mom that has no idea what's going on or always late. I just want to be prepared and have a planner small enough for me to take everywhere. Thankyou again for the awesome content.
I literally could watch a video of you just flipping through every page of your planner. I absolutely love how everything is and the e way you decorate!
Hi Mary Ellen! TY for your video and explaining everything. I just bought my first. Midnight Botanical. I got it on The Happy Planner website on sale Its a 18 month vertical. I cant wait to get it and start decorating it. Your spreads are so beatiful ❤❤😊
Damn where was this video 6 months ago when I first started 😂😂 better late then never lol but this was still very informative! Thanks for sharing love 😁😁
Glad I found this video. Really helped me with the terminology. I started using a planner like a little before I had my first daughter and every day I’m learning something new. My planner is more decorated now with my second daughter. It’s just so fun and relaxing! Will definitely check out more of your videos!! ❤️✅
My advice (not sure if you cover it since I'm only a few minutes into the video) is to get a set of smaller discs then what come with the classic and big planner. I don't know about you, but I am not a fan of carrying around a big chunky planner that's got a years worth of paper. I prefer a thinner option with only a few months at a time. Happy planner sells extra discs, and I love the mini sized ones, but a more economical option (if you're not ready to buy the pack of six sets that HP offers) would be the 1" Arc discs from staples, at about $2.50 for 11. I usually have about 2-3 months on me, as well as a section for my journal, and one for lists and general notes. And when I fill up the journal section, I move it to a seperate disc bound notebook I keep at home. Oh, and you can reuse your tabbed month pages as dividers later on.
Another option would be to buy a happy notes notebook in addition to your planner. Then you'd get filler paper and an extra cover set, in addition to the set of smaller discs.
2020 has been my 1st full year using The Happy Planner. I have learned a good bit as I have gone along, but certainly appreciated watching such an all-inclusive look at lingo and available products. This year I am using a classic dashboard layout, which I have loved. I have ordered a classic vertical for 2021, just to try that layout, too. Tfs.
Not a newbie but I just love watching all of your videos. Thank you. Especially for the small flip through at the end. Always spectacular. Btw I cracked up when you were mentioning your Links. SO FUNNY!
So glad that I watched this before writing in the one I bought. The one I bought is vertical and I would much prefer dashboard. Will be returning my current one and buying one more aligned with how I normally journal.
Thank you! Super helpful! I am a complete newbie to HP and I fell down the rabbit hole😩. Fortunately I got a grip on myself before I went bankrupt. This video is a MUST for newbies.👏👍
Thank you for this. I’ve always been a Hobonichi user. I’ve been very hesitant about discs...mainly due to the ‘feel’ of them - being wiggly or something. I see the benefit of total customization with the discs though, and may give Happy Planner a try! 💕
Thank You Bumble, for explaining the Basics to New beginners! I've truly enjoyed watching your videos. They are easy to follow and you do great at explaining whatever area of the Happy Planner you are teaching at the time of your video.😊
I just got the new Little Mermaid Happy Box and this video was very helpful to start understanding how to utilize my Happy Planner product! Thank you for the video.
Classic sized planners are a LITTLE tiny smidge bit too big for me. I LOVE my skinny classic. I also LOVE mini sticker books, I'm slowly building my sticker collection. Im considering getting a dashboard classic planner to try it again, at least for more journaly things. I use a LOT of pages in my skinny because I like to journal. I love your channel!
I’m glad I found your videos. I got a mini planner this year as I always have difficulty filling up all the space in the classic. Now, I wish I had the classic with all your good ideas! ❤️😁
Im a beginner, and this was helpful and overwhelming. Ive had planners before and i usually start a planner and then nothing after 2 months. This is the first time I've gotten a Happy Planner, and some stuff like the layouts looks familiar but I think this may start to encourage me to organize better in a fun way! I have a 18 month old too so Im trying to organize more. Thank you!!
I’m new to Happy Planner so this video was SUPER informative! I use the Classic hourly. I use the monthly layout for work and write my to dos in on Sunday. Then I use the hourly weekly spreads for personal stuff (apts, grandkids sports events, errands, etc.). That way I can just use one planner for everything. Love your channel!
This is so helpful to me. I’m new to planning and found so many helpful tips in your video. You have extreme creative ability and very pretty penmanship. Planning to purchase my first happy planner soon.
This was so informative and helpful. I am so excited to get started but I had no idea where to start. This was a great introduction/guide for a newbie like myself. Thank you so very much!
I love my dashboard layout as my appointments are mostly work and tracked in Outlook. This layout allows me to weave both professional and personal goals, tasks, and appointments.
This was super helpful - thanks! Ordered my first Happy Planner and I'm excited to get started. (once I get a shipping notification I'll be stalking the fedex guy more than my dogs do, lol)
Holy cow. I’ve had a couple of planners but never knew that there was so much I’m looking for one for work or like a monthly planner but I also think I want to get that happy note with the many stickers for personal. Thank you for this video I’m about to go buy one today in this video helps a lot
Thanks for this. August first is actually the start of my third year of planning, but I really want to make this new planner the best one ever. I also bought a mini planner for my purse and I love having it with me all the time. Definitely going to watch more of your videos.
First of all: FANTASTIC JOB!!! You covered SO MUCH material!! Maybe you can do a video on what planner stickers (begin with functional) to use, when, where, etc. That's where I got lost in the beginning... You sound a little embarrassed saying you have videos for the thing you referenced. WHY?? Be PROUD of those!!! I NEVER would have found my way if it hadn't been for your videos!!! Even after all this time, I LOVE watching your videos-because you always have better ideas!!! Newbies: watch Mary Ellen for ALL your planner questions !!!❤❤❤
Hi! I have been using a planner, but I'm just new to using stickers in planners. Your video really helped me out like the basics of planning and all the stuff. Because before my planner is just the bare one, only the things I write and then I started using washi tapes. I came across your channel and I have been watching all videos related to beginners in planning and all. Thank you so much and will continue to browse and watch all your videos here. Take care.
I've been trying to plan for a while, but my health always gets in the way. I just get up every day and try again. One thing I did was divide the 3 vertical boxes in half (to have 6 boxes) and it's sort of like the teacher planner. I don't buy a planner because they sell out too fast for me, so I make my own pages based on what I've seen in other planners. I'm working hard to follow my plans; it doesn't always happen, but eventually the tasks get done. Next step is to break down project and execute the steps. Thanks for your videos and spoil Bumble for me.
OMG! This video is so helpful for me. Thank you for creating it for newbie planners. I'm not new to planning but definitely new to creative planning. I'm new to the Happy Planner family. Excited to purchase more items from their site. Subscribed to your channel. 😉🧡
I just bought an 18 month Happy planner (my first!) last month, but I didn't like the cover. So, I tore apart 2 old planners, one for the beautiful outer covers, which are not plastic protected like the Happy Planner, so I took the plain opaque protective cover from another old planner, cut them down to Classic size, punched for disc's and now have an outer cover I love (and the pretty cover has an inner pocket) 🤗. I also got 3 sticker books and one of them you recommended for beginners. Now, I'm excited after seeing your video. You're a girl after my own heart. Thank you! 😊
I'm a newbie and finally using my classic planner and I found this video extremely detailed and helpful!!! I am sticker crazy too 😜 this is so much fun. Thank you!
I loved your video, I am on my 2nd year with a happy planner, and loving it, I especially enjoyed your Meal month at a glance with 5 ingredients, maybe we can see more of that.
Love all the newbie HP content . I used the teacher planner and I loved it. So I’m looking into happy planner for my mommy life. After watching your channel , I think I’m going with a (classic) ❤️
This was phenomenal. Loved your beautiful spreads. Thanks so much for posting these videos to help Happy Planner rookies like me. 👍🏽 #positivevibesonly
