New Triumph Rocket 3 is heavily restricted!

IMPORTANT: At the 8 minute mark, I said to leave the boxes unchecked. I meant to say CHECK ALL THE BOXES when you save the changes. You want the changes to apply to all gears, so don't leave anything unchecked!
Here is a link to the US and CAN map for this bike with AFR targets lowered to 13.50 and Sport mode is completely unlocked:
drive.google.com/file/d/15_Me...
----------------------------
If you think your Rocket is fast now... what if I told you that no matter how much throttle you give it, the ECU never gives you more than 64%?
What if you could unlock that, so that when you twist the throttle to 100%, it actually delivers 100%?
Watch and learn.

If this is your first bike, even standard before it was tweaked, I'd say get another bike. As the name says, it's a rocket. My favourite feature on the bike is cruise control. Going to save me a lot of money and points. Great tutorial mate. Thanks for posting. 👍👍

@SquireSCA
@SquireSCA 10 месяцев назад
Yeah. You can take the stock map and just "un-restrict it" to get the extra power. You can also play with fuel and timing if you have access to a dyno, and did the exhaust and really want to dial it in... But un-restricting it gives huge gains on a 100% stock bike. Imagine if your car had a wooden block under the gas pedal, so that no matter how hard you pressed it, that wooden block would only let you push the pedal down 60% of the way. That would hold the car back from putting out full power. We are removing that wooden block, in software, that's all.

I have a 2023 Rocket 3R. VIN BJ2104. USA stock map of 31255. I'm assuming I shouldn't use the map linked in your info. Should I just change all the AFR and ETV3 (everything you changed) tables to match what you did on the GT map? I don't understand what benefits to changing there are to anything except the ETV tables. Still learning... I did the Penner map with unrestricted ETV 2 & 3 (among other changes) and think I want to keep the standard ETV2/Road and only unrestrict the ETV3. Just not sure if I need to change any other non-ETV tables.
@SquireSCA
@SquireSCA 8 месяцев назад
That is all I would do, adjust the AFR tables to 13.2 across the board, and then go into ETV3 and also ETV4 if your bike has it(make them both the same) and unrestricted it like you see in the video. You could also open up the stock map, copy the ETV2 table, then open up your Penner map, paste that to ETV2 and then push that to the bike.

The limiting factor at that bike is not the Throttle but the tires, not sure if they can take that torque if you unleash the beast to full power. ;) Trying to get rid of the dip from 3 to 3 a half I get. If they do it in Rainmode too that could be actually dangerous if it suddenly cuts power let's say if you corner. This is not a 400cc, hope that TC is sophisticated 'nuff.

A few advice if you plan to do this: 1 - Wait at least till your bike is fully break-in (4-5k or until first service), it is recommended to not rev the engine too high during that period of time so unlocking the full throttle wouldn't help anyway; 2 - It will void you warranty (at least the engine one), so you might want to wait a few months till you know if you got a reliable bike (even the best motorcycle company can sometimes produce lemons) or if you truly want to keep the bike (change of heart or unexpected life situation); 3 - Give yourself time to get used to the stock bike before unleashing the beast! Specially if it's your first Rocket 3 and you have little to no experience with superbike or high torque monster!
@SquireSCA
@SquireSCA Год назад
Your motor is broken in before 100 miles. The 600 mile thing is from the 1970's... Not sure why corporate lawyers keep that stuff in the manual, it doesn't apply to today's bikes... Modern tolerances and machining, advances in lubrication, vastly improved metallurgy... Heck, some brands like Kawasaki put every new bike on the dyno and run it to redline before it leaves the factory... The motors are often less than 1 week old, with 0 miles on them, and they run the piss out of them to redline to make sure that the power output is within spec. If that doesn't blow it up, you aren't gonna either, unless you are a complete knob. haha Can't argue with your 2nd and 3rd points... But personally, I flashed my Speed Twin ECU while I was doing the paperwork with the dealer... It will only void the warranty if they can show that the flash caused whatever failure you took it in for. At least that's how it works in the US.

Hi, Good tutorials, FYI, ETV3 has 4 tables for this tune, If you compare the ETV3(1) and (2) , these are the same but compare ETV3 (1) to ETV3 (3) and ETV3 (4), they are different, maybe to suit hot or cold engine I don't know but if that is the case then when you selected to save ETV3 (1) changes and did not select all as it selected 1 and 2 then I think it may revert to the unchanged ETV3 and 4 when the parameters are met (Possibly up to operating temp) What do you think?
@SquireSCA
@SquireSCA 7 месяцев назад
Those other tables are for gears. They group some gears together, so that in 1-2 you can have a softer response, lets say... and then in gear 3 a more aggressive mapping, etc... Edit ETV3(1) to suit what you want, and when you save it, apply it to ALL the others.

Ask her if her tune, is actually a dyno made TUNE. I won't open that entire can of worms here, but I made a video about DNK and have now talked to DOZENS of people who have had similar experiences... If she made the tune on a dyno, that's one thing. But ask the question and get it in writing from them(email), exactly what goes into their "tune"... If its just a de-restricting and dumping 10% fuel in there to richen things up a tad, then you can do that yourself for free. There are a lot of red flags with DNK. They don't answer detailed questions, they don't post dyno charts on their website with the tunes, and I have looked at several of the tunes that people bought from her and she doesn't disable the O2 sensors, which means that if she tuned the bike, she has to know that leaving the O2 active will have the ECU try to lean things back out... If she knows that, then she isn't tuning the closed loop part of the map, and if she doesn't know that, that's another red flag, because even an amateur tuner should know that. Many people do like her tunes, but I don't know how many have actually tossed them on a dyno to check them, and how much is placebo... Your mileage may vary...

@@SquireSCA yea I’ve heard her customer service was crap and she was an asshole but the tunes were ok. Not sure. I just went back through my emails to her. She said and I quote “ we have tuned fully stock rocket 3s To over 180hp to the tire. The only surprising fact is that an aftermarket muffler doesn’t make much difference in performance. It’s mostly for sound.” Her message back to me when I first inquired a couple months ago. The Bren tune feels decent but I don’t feel like it’s a huge difference. I may just keep it and live with it. It’s not bad at all. I guess I just had more expectations for it. It’s a strong bike in stock form but hearing a possible 30 hp increase from a tune is always fun to experience lol

Most of those gains come from derestricting the bike like in my video. It probably would also benefit from a few degrees of ignition advance, but at that point, the bike makes such stupid power, I would just derestrict it for free and call it a day...

That's one of the things that kills me about this bike. I've seen R3 vs Diavel races and the Diavel beats it in everything except launch, but people don't realize that the Diavel is way less restricted than the R3. It's nonsensical how detuned it is even in sport mode.
@SquireSCA
@SquireSCA Год назад
Yeah, the Diavel doesn't have the torque, but it does make about the same HP and it is lighter... so the Tq on the Rocket pulls ahead, but once the Diavel gets rolling it passes it. If the Rocket is unrestricted, then I don't know, maybe it gets back out ahead?

@@SquireSCA I doubt that but it would stay ahead much longer.
