Just noticed what appears to be a new trunk or sucker growing part of the way up the main trunk of my Mediterranean/European fan palm (Chamaerops humilis).
Yes the Euro fan Palm has rizhomes and the new growth tends to grow very close to the main plant and share a good part of the main root system. This is the reason why you should never seperate the pups from the the main plant. Great looking Euro and hopefully you can get another one! Cheers bud 👍
Thanks Sandor, great info, I love the multi-trunk look of a Chamaerops. Yeah I would love to get a cerifera, but my first priorities in terms of palms are getting a nice sized Sabal minor and needle palm. Thanks and cheers!
@@sandorspalms Yeah, it may be mine as well, depending on your definition of "cold hardy." I think it is my favorite palm that is as hardy as it is, and is one of my favorite palms of all, they are such beauties, especially as they get older and develop multiple trunks. Thanks and take care!
Thanks, yeah I have been debating weather or not to plant it because I know I will end up digging it up and bringing it with me when I go to college. You know what, I think I’m going to do it! I will put a plastic bag over it in winter and maybe use some C-9 Christmas lights to protect it. Thanks and take care! Cheers!
No, unfortunately not yet, but I do want to create an account at some point. When I do I will let you know, Facebook has some great palm groups as I am sure you are aware. Thanks for watching and take care!
