Actually prefer the previous model. Im looking at a 2020 tiguan R line, looks more aggressive in my opinion.

I agree Robert, I don’t dislike this new one so much as I find a bit derivative, lacks the handsomeness and personality of the original series 2 and the facelift. Good to see physical buttons back on the steering wheel though and although it might take some getting used to the size I think the prominent screen will probably be a step forward providing its not glitchy. Bit nicer inside but less so outside..

Definitely the one to go for in my opinion. My son's got a 2020 allspace (he's got 2 kids). Even got 7 seats. I really like it.

That car is better in every single way than previous model. There will be R line, so aggressive it will be. And I have never considered how aggressive a car is when buying. This car is very good.

Never been a big fan of the jumbo size infotainment screens. Its great to have all that real estate when you're actually using the screen, but when off it a massive void smack in the middle of the dash. What would be great though if you could used it as a monitor when the car is in park. I'd also like to see the backup cameras view maximized over the entire display. Now that would definitely be of great practical use, unique, and something to write home about. Particularly if that display was UHD. Thigh support seats are a huge improvement, except I personally hate integrated head rest in an SUV. Even the trend of coupefied models popping up like mushroom all over the car industry. The materials and features are without a doubt a step above the previous models. Not to mention all the new interior and exterior color combinations. Just wish the rear touch surfaces were a bit softer, e.g. rear window sills. Rear "peasant blockers" would have added a nice touch too. But at least VW was smart enough to include USB ports for ALL the outboard seats. Nowadays, everybody in the car has a handheld device, so no need to fight over the power port.

@@slyarsenal VW reliability is horrible ? How ? VW uses plastic fragile not lasting water pump that will leaked easily unlike Hyundai uses cast metal water pump that last indefinitely and not leak easily . Forget about the latest VW design ,VW will screw their buyers unnecessarily to spend more money on replacing more not lasting plastic fragile engine parts e.g. plastic water pump in a short interval . VW unreliable due to using too much plastic fragile engine parts .

In the UK you can get fined by the police if you are caught using or even touching a mobile phone while driving, even if you are adjusting a mounted phone being used as a sat nav, as it distracts your attention from the road. And yet cars are being fitted with these large pad like screens with multiple options for the driver to adjust or use while on the move !

No, in the UK you will not necessarily get fined for "touching a mobile phone" as long as it is in a secure holder on the dash. Yes, it is a distraction and you may get fined for driving without due care and attention should a police officer see you touching the phone and possibly swerving out of control or similar. However, I do agree that these large pad screens with multiple options are dangerous and have far too many menus to get through when a simple button or knob would suffice.

@@mda5003 you better catch up with the law changes. If you are seen touching your phone while driving, you are liable to be fined. It is now an offence, even if you are changing the sat nav on the phone. The rules changed in 2022. YouGov writes/ it is illegal to touch your phone at all while driving, or even stopped in traffic. Crazy considering electric cars mostly come with large touch screens of some sort, used for a lot of controls and adjustments.

@@vtechead1 No, you are wrong, even after the law has changed it is still not an offence to touch a phone as long as it is in a holder and not in your hand. As I said touching a phone is not in itself an offence and so you cannot be fined for that unless you are driving without due care and attention. Try checking UK law and not rely on RU-vid.

Honestly for you both, I thought I’d quickly swat up on the actual law and help out and genuinely there are mixed messages online from various websites (I just spent the past 10 mins looking 😂) Some say it can’t be used in a cradle and some say it can with “recent changes” as it falls into the same category as paying at a drive through. I still wouldn’t take the risk 😅 I’ll just use CarPlay 👊🏼 Don’t worry, this is why everyone doesn’t know, there are mixed messages online.

@@npoleary Yes, but the offence only applies when holding the phone or any hand-held device whilst driving or even when stationary in traffic: "whenever a driver holds and uses a device, regardless of why they are holding it." The only two exceptions are when using the phone to make a contactless payment at a drive through or in the event of a 999 emergency and even then only when safe to do so. Further explanation: "using a mobile phone for navigation will continue to be legal, as long as it is kept in a cradle and not in the driver’s hand. The Government will update both the guidance on using a phone and/or sat nav when driving and the Highway Code, to reduce misunderstandings about the new law, particularly on the difference between hand-held and hands-free use." The law and amendments can be found on legislation.gov.uk.

This is what I said on the other one: Oh once all of the Mercedes me services / digital extras are switched on, it disappears after a couple of days. That’s what it did for my car anyway when I bought it.

One more Manufacturer has done it, and that's not BMW or Mercedes. It's India's home grown International brand called Mahindra, and I have apple Maps in my Mahindra Scorpio N in the cockpit display. 😊

Certainly got me thinking I’ve got an almost 3 year old Mercedes GLA AMGLine exec and would consider changing to this. I had a new Tiguan 4 motion about 6 years ago and it was nice and practical but not exciting

The gear selector appears to be opposite to Mercedes. Drive up, reverse down. Will this ever get standardized? Some French cars in the 60's had unique transmissions, a bit confusing...

Yeah exactly as marcburgon8590 said it twists in this model. No it’ll never be standardised as it’s down to the manufacturers’s design and what they think is easier to use. Handily though…most car manufacturers usually keep to the same layout so if you’re a fan of one brand they should be similar across their models that they sell

I had an earlier model which impressed me except that it was very thirsty. This was the reason I got rid of it as it was chewing way too much fuel even when driving economically.

Look at minutes 2. The only change which is really nice is removing the big gear shifter. But the old model was so beautiful inside and out. This is just a cheap Korean design.

The previous models/gens were way better looking - VW is losing its way and the designs are getting boring and soft.. nothing about this VW screams VW identity... it's a Tiguan pretending to be something it's not... with a front end that has a grill that makes zero sense, the rear end looks unfinished just so VW could get something out on the road, the infotainment screen looks just out of place like a sore thumb... overall the new Tiguan gets a D- for a grade... nothing crazy to want to go out and upgrade anytime soon....there are other brands out there that are hitting the mark and VW is seemingly holding on for until its last breath....

I think it’ll be very useful for Sat nav related functions 🤓 Hoping you can watch content on it too, I haven’t tested that but I hope do a full review in the future!
