@Mr.delGayto "What a great God you guys have..." Stop ✋... Stop trying to start a cringey debate here that no one asked for... No one really cares about the fact that you're an atheist and so you shouldn't care whether someone is religious...
We were so scared as a country after 9-11. We stood by our neighbors. We helped one another. America was different. We had to keep each other safe. We were strong.
2001 was for sure a trying year for our nation and world mainly because of what happened on Tue. 9/11/01, but the year itself was nothing compared to 2020 and/or 2021 tbh.
I think alot of people wanted 2001 to be over as soon as possible after 9/11. To try and move on for the tragedy and hope 2002 was gonna be a great year. A new fresh, and positive start.
Must... Not... Cry... I can't help it, though. This is easily the most emotional of the last ten, and even more so now that the man who brought us into each year for four decades is no longer with us. Rest in peace Dick Clark, America's Oldest Teenager!
2002 was great for me honestly. I can't remember any bad things. We got my first and to date only dog in March, a Boston Terrier. We finally got satellite TV again after being without it since 1996 or 95 (I didn't remember it). We bought it when my sister and nieces came up from Texas and we went to Blockbuster, where they were selling a deal on it, and my sister and nieces recommended we get it. I was elated and watched Spongebob and Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network and Boomerang for days. I watched Unwrapped on the Food Network. I switched around the movie channels. It was mind blowing for me. Unfortunately this is also when cable channels began sucking. But anyway, 2002 was a fun year.
So sad that many lives couldn’t celebrate this New Years I know many people die every year but many people were taken away too early rip to those who died on 9/11
Such a difference from the earlier ball drops I saw. The previous years were absolutely electric and explosive, but this year had a solemn atmosphere. America will move on, but never forget the events that happened that year.
Yeah, Christmas of 2001 was never the same. I was in my last year of high school and I went to New Jersey to be with my family. I had bought my airline tickets in August of 2001 and I had planned to visit the twin towers. Christmas wasn't the same in New York that horrible year.
After 9/11, they made a Standing Agreement to make 2002 the greatest year ever. Now, after everything that has gone on in 2020 (Covid-19, the economy, race relations), we need a standing agreement to make 2021 the greatest year ever.
New Year's Eve will never be the same now that Dick Clark is gone. No one can ring in the New Year better than Dick Clark and won't ever be. RIP Dick and welcoming the New Year isn't going to be the same with him.
People who were born in 2002 will be hitting their 20s in 2022 which is the year after the upcoming year (2021), just one more year for the '02 babies! I for one will be hitting my 30s in 2021 which I'm super excited for! :)

At 2:30, you see Dick kissing his wife. I can only imagine how lonely the moment will be for her when the ball drops for 2013, no longer having him there to share that yearly kiss with. RIP Dick Clark.
This is my favorite New Year's of my childhood (I was 10) also 2002 was one of my two favorite years of the 2000s decade (other one being 2006) here's to all a Happy 2016! :)
Class of 02 right here. Can't believe its been eight years already. I still remember sitting in class watching the attacks on TV. We've come a long way, wars not withstanding.
2002 had Lilo and Stitch, and it was the year of the Horse. 2002 had the Angels and the Giants in the World Series. 2002 had the Winter Olympics in our USA.
I can’t believe this was 20 years ago. I remember watching this. So much has changed in my life and the world since then. If you told little kid me all the things that I would go through and the world as well he would tell me I was crazy
@@thomasingram1727 No, I was talking about how great things were for me overseas despite the horrible events that unfolded in my home country around the same time.
@@justinaccount9920I think he made this comment right after or before it hit the 2020s and so thats why he said "Rest in peace 2010s" because it's the end of another decade.
I remember watching this! It was the first time I stayed up until midnight without falling asleep. I was counting down to 3 and then I was like KABOOM!
If you ask me, that's exactly what he's been doing! I mean, if he wasn't, he wouldn't continue to do New Years Rockin Eve after his stroke! God Bless you, Dick Clark! and in all honesty, I don't know why people are saying they can no longer remember him as "America's Oldest Teenager." As far as I know, no teenager has had a stroke. but, Dick's still going strong after his! In short, we can remember Dick anyway we wish, even if he's not exactly the same! He's still Dick Clark!
Only thing I remember in 2002 (I was 5) was in the back seat in my mom's car going to Walmart jamming to Linkin Park and Alanis morrisette and playing in the kiddy pool in the yard and riding bike and riding my jeep I got from Walmart. Life was good. 😌😩
