No camera phones, only dial up Internet, N64 and PS1 were the consoles to own. Britney Spears and backstreet boys were in lol. Eminem's debut album. I was 10, no responsibilities. Good ol 1999 :)
Yeah it was better back then.. the people was more alive.. Now people live like enslaved controled robots.. it is getting worse i´m very worried about the future.. They accept everything that comes at them. they just think that all technical development is good without giving any thoughts to the consequences.. A very dark time is coming and people need to wake up before it is too late..
1999 felt like another world that I would go back to in a heart beat no stupid social media or smart phones it makes me so damn sad that I can never go back.
I was 13 I remember 1998 1999 like it was yesterday and I was excited that I made it to witness the last year of the millennium come into. I had Prince 1999 in my mind very heavily. The 90s all the 90s that whole decade was a great time to grow up and be alive to experience.
Happy 25th Anniversary to the last New Year's Rockin' Eve party, before the new millenium! I keep on loving their rendition to Auld Lang Syne and they really need to bring that back to ABC, sometime, soon!
1999 (MCMXCIX) was a common year starting on Friday, it was also the year 1999 of Anno Domini / Common Era, the 999th year of the 2nd millennium, the 99th year of the 20th century and the 10th and last year of the 1990s. It was a historic turning point for the wave of revolutions swept across the eastern bloc, beginning in Poland. Collectively known as the 1999 revolutions, they announced the death of Russia two years later and the beginning of the post-Cold War era of US dominance in world affairs.
I worked overnight at Broadway between 47th and 48th when this filmed in 1998-99. I would have been at home, no work for third shift. The firm always closed down and sent people home around 7p. For some reason they made second shift come in briefly and sent them home in cabs. This was before 9/11 of course. A lot changed after that. Good old days. Thanks for posting this. 9/22/23
It’s crazy how 1999 was only 11 years old when this video was uploaded it’s like uploading New Year’s Eve 2012 today and people getting nostalgic for 2013 today
I would be 13 in March of 1999...back when I had nothing but homework, Christmas and birthday presents, and dial-up internet to worry about...those were the days :3
I was there... sorta. The crowd was huge that year so we couldn't quite get into Times Square itself. I think we ended up watching the reflection of the ball in the windows of the buildings on Broadway as it dropped in the last few seconds. Boy, was it freezing! But we still had a great time.
The last year of the 1990s The last year of the 1900s The last year of the 1000s The 1000th year of then 1000s The 100th year of the 1900s The 10th year of the 1990s
Sometimes, I wish I had a real-life time machine. To go back in time to Monday, January 1st, 1996, Wednesday, January 1st, 1997, Thursday, January 1st, 1998 or Friday, January 1st, 1999. Because I really miss the late 90's, And I wish I could relive them again😢
Every 10 years you celebrate a new decade, every 100 years a new century, every 1000 years a new millennium... those who in 1999 were lucky to witness that moment...
New Years Eve today is a joke compared to the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. This version of Auld Lang Syne should be used every year. Also NYE is not the same without DC.
Announced by the late Charlie O'Donnell, who was the announcer for "American Bandstand" (which Dick Clark hosted back in the day). O'Donnell was also best known as the longtime announcer for "Wheel of Fortune."
I was there. Me and a friend of my sister:s drove up from south Carolina the day before. With about 300$. Stayed in Queens in a crappy hotel. Drank southern comfort, met a girl from road Island to kiss on. I was 19 , no cell phone, had to pan handle at rest stops to get home.... It was wonderful 😊😊😊😊😊
Frank Smith there wasn’t a year 1 either. The scheme was invented hundreds of years later. So there is no right or wrong answer for when did the centuries start. We choose centuries based on digits. All of y’all who say 2001 is out of date.
