HEY, CUZ!!! This guy has got to be a relative - my uncle Nick spelled the family name with an "or" instead of "er", too. We were all from Chester, PA - where Mrs. DiCostanza (I'm probably spelling that wrong - I was just a kid then) invented the hoggie - or hoagie - it's name coming from the guys who worked out on Hog Island in the Delaware river, and crowded her shop for sandwiches every day. My favorite PCS was from Jim's in Parkside - broke da mouth - as the Hawaiian's like to say. But I wouldn't eat one with wizz on it if I was starving - sharp provolone - that's the ticket. And the winter wheat flour bread from Earo's Bakery - crusty/crunchy on the outside - fresh/fluffy white inside. Mr. & Mrs. Earo lived across the street from us in Brookhaven when I was growing up - she always had a pot of spaghetti sauce on the stove - and loaves of that amazing bread. Those were the days, my friends.
I need time stamps and descriptions ! ! I need to know what I'm looking at. 11:40 Braised pork sandwich with broccolini and cheese?!. Looks amazing! What kind of cheese s that? And what's in that braising liquid?
I grew up in the South and never had a PCS until I visited Philly on business as an adult. I got one from a street vendor and it was heaven on Earth. One of the best if not THE BEST sandwiches I’ve ever had .
Charley's Cheese Steaks is a newer fast food chain. They put a few in central FL. The taste is ✔. I ate a few. The sandwiches are priced a bit high 💲 but the QC is good.
@@DavidLLambertmobile Charley’s just opened in a Walmart not far from where I live, not sure I’ll try it, I think I’d enjoy a Cuban sandwich more or even a Chicago dog, however last night I watched a video of a Chicago dog being made, it looked fantastic, but it cost $16, not going to pay $16 for a hot dog.
I wish I were close to your restauraunt. I'd love to have one.of those everyday . The bread looks fantastic and you do not skimp on the fillings. Thank you for that. I would gladly pay extra for a sandwich like you make.
Holy moly ! If I lived there I would just walk in and be like TAKE MY MONEY NOW PLEASE ! Best video of sandwiches ever ! I about lost my mind over the fries ! That last sandwich with the scrapple loaf I just wanted to crawl inside it and eat my way out !
"I just wanted to crawl inside it and eat my way out !" This was funny:))) Never heard this particular meme before. Now I want to crawl myself into one of these.
pork is the most unhealthy and cheapest meat in the world...the pig eats shit, and enjoys it. if you want to find out, search the internet well about pork.
@@partnershipnature627 Ok I went on your profile, now I know why you preach against pork. You are one of those brainwashed religious people. You can believe in your magic imaginary stuff but go educate youreself before trying to propagate ignorant stuff.
@@iSim0641 There are no animals on the globe with less shame than pigs! It is the only animal that invites society to mate with its mate in person. In America, most people eat pork. Very often, after dances and other parties, Americans barter their wives: "Come on, sleep with my wife, and I'll sleep with your wife!" Who eats pork - can take on the characteristics of a pig. The pig is, perhaps, the dirtiest animal on Earth. She grows up and lives in dirt, dirt and feces. I don’t know that God created a better collector of garbage and carrion than a pig. In many villages, people do not have a toilet, so they defecate outside, outdoors. Very often a pig picks up that feces. Some will say that in developed countries, such as Australia, pigs are raised in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these "hygienic" conditions, pigs are kept together in stables. No matter how hard they try to keep the pigs clean, they are unclean by nature. They eat their own feces and the feces of other pigs, and enjoy it.
@@partnershipnature627 Pigs are much nicer than that and are not willingly dirty. They are kept that way by farmers who fail to treat them well. You need to get a grip there and stop blaming innocent animals for humanity's inhumane treatment of them.
I grew up in Philly, and this all looks so damned good! I worked for my uncle's store/deli, and we made, great cheese steaks and hoagies etc.. Though, way back then,( 80's), we made them originally with American cheese or Provolone. People around the nieghborhood loved our sandwiches. Either way, you have to use the right bread, like these guys are, to make a perfect, delish sandwich! 😋👍
You got that right. Without the right roll the whole thing goes to sh*t. That is definitely one of the things I miss about the city. Cant get good crusty hoagie rolls in the country.
@@aalast *"From/live in Philly and I don't know anyone that eats a cheesesteak with Cheese Whiz"* Exactly... Only someone who puts ketchup on their peanut butter sandwich would put Cheese Whiz on grilled steak. In other words, only a complete loon.
@@tonyzuco6144 Really? This is nice to hear. I’m from NYC and I love provolone on my cheesesteaks, never cared for cheese whiz, but friends from philly would always tell me it’s a must or else it’s “not a real cheesesteak”. Not that I care tho, lol. Good food is good food 🤤
Wow that's very interesting that I'll try. Wish everyone a happy Easter 🍻 Many greetings from Hamburg Germany 🇩🇪 And thank you for the instructive video
Took my mother back to Brooklyn in July 2021 and sat down with my wife to try the philly. Before we left I had to get one to go, they are that good. Definitely a place to revisit.
I've never been turned on with food as much as I was when they cut the sandwich open the one with the peppers and brought it right up close to the camera as if you were going to take a bite off of it having had the sandwiches many at times throughout my lifetime by the way I'm 64 years old and come from Jersey shore I knew exactly how this thing tasted and I closed my eyes and I sat there for a couple minutes remembering thanks so much for sharing this by the way I actually feel like I gained a couple of pounds afterwards at the end 😂
If you come in Italy to taste our real food (not the american imitation) you will change your tastes😂 I love this stuff but this is really bad for our health… here we eat better food
I am from Philly, now living in Toronto and this menu is a killer. If a place like this opened in Toronto they would do fantastic business. The scrapple would be a hard sell until they tasted it. I lived in the old Habbersett house in Media so I love my scrapple but I like it cooked on a flat top, not deep-fried, which is easier and faster.
I’ve been going to Philly all my life it’s my second home originally from Brooklyn and Atlanta is my third home been going there all my life too. Funny thing I’ve never tried scrapple lol probably because my Philly family don’t do pork.
@@lawrenceweston922 Philthy Philly’s is very good but expensive the use American Cheese and the have Amoroso's rolls flown in fresh so their steaks are as good as you'll find in Canada IMHO. Enjoy!
I agree 100% Matt I have moved down to Florida many years ago and for so long I have watched so many businesses down here try to duplicate the sandwiches we had up north and the only ones that were successful were the ones that were able to duplicate the bread making some even went as far as installing different filtration systems that were used up North so they can use down here others said to hell with it and just had their bread and inported everyday bread would fly in from Philly or New York and that's what made these shops special it's all about the bread and thanks for acknowledging that a lot of people wouldn't give it a second thought.
I gotta say all the sandwiches/subs looked amazing and I'll bet they tasted even better. But the thing that really varies from region to region is the bread, and NY/ NJ can't be equaled or beat in my opinion
Going to set record straight, in the NE they are all called CS most hometown deli's make them this way each region has there own sandwich style NYC= Chopped cheese Phiily= Philly CS gotta have whiz NJ= CS Provolone cheese "no whiz"

great to see scrapple being enjoyed in NYC... grew up eating scrapple in PA.....Hatfield Brand is great, and my favorite scrapple is from R & R Provisions in Easton PA
first of all...top quality video. these folks are doing some top quality food... that sharp provolone looks fantastic. thank you for sharing. do you mind me asking what kind of camera you use? that is so high quality vid
Many years ago there was a place like this in East Boston near the Airport that had fried bologna sandwiches with grilled onions made the same way. Man that place smelled good

I now live in the Charlotte area of North Carolina. Raised and lived in Brooklyn New York for sixty years. What I missed most is the NY deli. I want one of everything
Those famous ones (I’m guessing you mean Pat’s and Geno’s) are weak. Go to a good pizza shop, or Steve’s, Jim’s, or John’s Roast Pork (the best). In North Philadelphia, born and raised, eating cheesesteaks was a big part of lots of my days...
OMFG 😅 by the time he had gotten to making the pork roll sandwich I had already put on my shorts with the full elastic waist and by the end of him making that I just literally started to tear up what memories that sandwich could bring back even to this date. Thanks so much for sharing I will treasure this video. 😆
