I went to high school in that neighborhood in the late 60’s, corner of Clermont and Vanderbilt. It was an entirely impoverished neighborhood and very dangerous for us. We went to and from the train station in groups to avoid getting jumped. Nice to see that it has become cleaner and safer.

Lived there for almost 20 years South Portland and Carlton Ave. It was great in the 80-90, early 2000’s. For decades you literally couldn’t pay people to move there. Obviously that way of thinking changed. I moved and like where I live now.

Every home in that area is nice. I was in that area a lot as a kid; had family on Clinton Ave down the block from Waverly Park and two blocks from Lafayette Park. Always been a nice area!

Went to high school (Cathedral Prep) and college (St. Joseph’s) there in the 1970s. I LOVED the neighborhood back then. Couldn’t afford it when houses were under $100,000. Now they’re $5 to $10 million!
