Those twinkling blue eyes and that gorgeous voice always comes through. Elvis never got over being nervous before going on stage. I love seeing Elvis relaxed. Thank you David. I never noticed that Elvis was wearing a different suit until you mentioned it and I went back and looked at the other footage of the press conference.

My friend went to Graceland he was a painting contractor. He told me an interaction Elvis had talked with a reporter. The reporter asked Elvis about an expensive painting in the room. Elvis said I don't know much about art, but I can appreciate a good house painting. That sounds like Elvis & His respect for common people

I think there is more footage then Graceland put out. I have load's of rare footage of the man. I have the new years EVE 1976 concert, And it's fantastic. He even sings our auld lang syne. Iv'e seen loads of 1972 stuff that would blow your socks off. And you would not beleve the 1970 That's The way it is footage that was missing from the film. Some of it even better than what was on the original DVD. I have the dulux Edition, And there's still not everything on that. Take a look at you tube to. Priscilla surely could put some of this on to a DVD for us to enjoy. It's always the same stuff. 1968 comeback 1973 hawai concert. That's the way it is. repackageing the same thing over and over to just grab our money. Witch i can't understand. because if she put the stuff out there the fans would buy it.

Excellent footage find, that is definitely backstage at the Madison Square Garden press conference as these photos have been available for a long time, but really great to see film footage. I would think he was presented with the gold record for burning love possibly at that time but can not be 100% sure. I really want to know who is the guy with his hand on Elvis shoulder ? Up close n personal for sure. He sure had one hell of a work ethic doing so many shows and at such a top quality in 72 they must have been exhausting at times. Thanks

It has always annoyed me that Larry Geller led Elvis astray via numerology, astral projection and other forms of "spirituality." But God says, "I give them life everlasting; and they shall not perish forever, and no man shall pluck them out of my hand." John 10:28 No matter how far from the narrow path Elvis walked, God never abandoned him and took him when the pain got too great.

Any footage of the Elvis Press Conferences is gold. It's interesting to see how he interacts with the journalists. For example, this one, he seemed relaxed and at ease, ready for any questions thrown at him. Compare that to 2 years prior in Texas for the Astrodome Press Conference in February 1970. Wow, he seemed kinda out of his head and very uncomfortable during that one. It's cringe worthy at times. If only we had footage or even audio of the August 1st 1969 Press Conference!

I met my hero...Elvis, and knew him from 1973 until he passed. And no, he was not a disappointment in any category. He was better looking in person than any photo ever (I believe it was an evangelistic anointing upon him); he had the sweetness and playfulness of a child, and he, by his natural openness, made me feel completely at ease within about 5 minutes, even though I was so nervous on arrival (I was just 17 when I first met him). He didn't project any pretenses... he loved to converse, and had a natural inquisitiveness...he wanted to know every detail of your life while listening. If you mentioned any song you liked, he would stand up and either sing it to you a cappella (he did this for me with "Softly As I Leave You" and another time with "It's Over," (he just spoke the lyrics that time, because I told him there was one part I couldn't figure out from the album) or he'd hail Charlie Hodge to play the piano and sing it there. (This was in his Las Vegas Hilton 30th Floor suite.) Anyway, my point being, is that he was far from a disappointment, from his strikingly beautiful face to his all-embracing personality, his sense of humor, his walk, the sound of his speaking voice (soft and Southern-gentlemanly), to his interest and love for people, he had the most riveting presence of anyone I ever encountered, before or since. Thank you for doing the videos! They're so good!

Can you tell us any more about how/when you met him?
@kathleen0954
@kathleen0954 7 месяцев назад
@@youtubeuserthinker Hello there, and yes I can! I was 15 when I first saw him perform in Las Vegas in August 1970. I lived in Los Angeles, and my grandma drove me from there twice a year (February and August) for 4 days each time, which meant 8 shows every time we went. He performed 2 shows a night at the Hilton. By attending that many shows, eventually I became acquainted with members of his entourage, including his father, who I met first in the Hilton coffee shop where he invited my friend and me to sit with him, and we had sodas and a lovely conversation. But it was Joe Esposito who first invited me to one of Elvis' after-the-late-show parties, which were typically very small and intimate. After that, I was invited to those get-togethers whenever I was there, and even to his home at 144 Monovale Drive in Beverly Hills, where he often went prior to each of his Las Vegas stints. The first time I met him personally was February 1973. (I had already kissed him and received scarfs from him many times during the shows, but I hadn't met him in a personal setting!!) It was in his 30th floor suite, and at that time I also met his girlfriend Linda Thompson, a lovely, kind, beautiful and open-hearted woman. After that, sometimes Linda would invite me to sit in Elvis' booth with her, and other times, come get me from the audience after the dinner show and take me backstage to the dressing rooms to be with them between shows. That's how it all began, and for the next 4+ years continued until he passed. I met some of his other girlfriends during those times, Sheila Ryan, Ann Pennington come to mind, but Linda was my favorite and so well suited to him. She made such an impression on my life, as did Elvis, that I remember her sweetly to this day too. And that, fparkes5781, is the how and the when of how it all began....

@@youtubeuserthinker Yes, of course. I did once, and it was posted, but it seems it's been deleted. Did you ever see my original post in answer to your question? Well, I first met his father in the coffee shop at the Hilton Hotel, who invited my friend and me to sit and converse, so that was a beginning, but it was Joe Esposito who made the first introduction when Elvis was rehearsing at RCA Hollywood. Then in Las Vegas, Joe and/or Red West also invited me to Elvis' after-the-late-show parties. That's how it began. I was also invited to Elvis' home in Beverly Hills (144 Monovale Ave). (I lived in Los Angeles, so his entourage would let me know when he was going to be at his Monovale home, which was often right before his Las Vegas stints.) Hopefully this gets posted.... sorry for the late response...I don't know why the first one got deleted.

Fantastic video, I feel you're pretty spot on with what was going on with Elvis. When you're well read, you form an instinct in your gut about what was going on. It's not fact of course but it's a feel for the man and what was going on by looking at him, watching him. I also like that you've read enough to realise there were shenanigans going on from Priscilla as well as Elvis. They were pretty much over by 1969/70 when you consider his relationship with Benning and Priscilla's with the dance instructor. Love seeing Elvis backstage and in my view before MSG, Elvis looks and sounds fantastic.

This is my favorite press conference he did, because he was absolutely on 🔥🔥 for the tour in June 72!!! You can just tell by his body language, and the smile on his face, that HE KNEW He was the BIGGEST DEAL ON THE PLANET, and BIGGEST & BRIGHTEST ⭐ OF EM' ALL!! NOBODY ELSE WAS EVEN CLOSE, and STILL ISN'T TO THIS DAY!!! The way He's VERY HUMBLE, and answers the questions with total honesty, and without knocking anyone else, even saying "I think there's room for everybody" Man that's just TOTALLY FRIGGIN AWESOME!!! My favorite part of this press conference is when he tells the Female reporter "Unless you got something else in mind" That's MY BOY! MY BOY! 💪😎 😎👌 Again brother, I appreciate these, you keep em' coming and I'll keep smashing on that the 👍 button & sharing em' to the 9 Elvis FB groups I'm in!🤜🤛 So until the next video may God bless you audios! ⚡TCB⚡ EAP THE 👑

The only reason I can really give you is just that when it comes to this man, and if you really do love Him like I do, It's hard to stop talking about Him, He just always has and always will have that effect on me, the dude really means that much to me! So lastly, sorry for being so damn long-winded again, but I do wanna say brother again how I really appreciate the hell out of what you're doing' by keeping Elvis's memory alive!! So as long as you keep these bad boys coming I'll keep liking, and sharing on em' !! So until the next one, may God bless you audios...... 🤜🤛 🫸🫷😎👌⚡TCB⚡& ✌️OUT.......

Wow, a great find. As you said, never heard any fan who met Elvis say a bad word about the interaction. Feel the need to respond to the comment about wrecking his body with bad diet and pills. No doubt he did, but it was so much more complicated than that. Last September I was diagnosed with a colon condition which has given me a new understanding of the twisted colon Elvis endured. I can go from being petite size (I'm female) to appearing in mid pregnancy in less than an hour. The pain is horrible, it causes cramps and sweats, reduced movement and a host of unmentionables. What I eat makes little difference and when I get certain symptoms the advice is to reduce intake to what is generally perceived as a rubbish "white stuff low fibre" diet! When food becomes the enemy, reaching for comfort food because a small psychological pleasure and pick me up, For Elvis to have treatment would have meant surgery, and very likely a stoma for a period of time. Sometimes the colon does not successfully heal and the stoma becomes permanent. For a star like Elvis, and with fewer medical and surgical options in the early 70s, this may have been a risk he was unwilling to take. When I see photos or footage taken days apart where in one Elvis looks good and in another looks ashen, bloated and sluggish I know all too well some of what he was experiencing and am amazed he made it on stage at all. Even if a "performance" was bad in Elvis terms, that voice was always blessed. And it remains a blessing for so many.

I do believe Elvis had some medical issues and I’m sympathetic towards that but I don’t believe the whole theory that he was just a medical wrec bound for death at early age. I pray for your speedy recovery and that you make it past this 👍🏻

The press conference was in the Mercury Ballroom in the New York Hilton, so the footage was probably in another room in the same place.

In regards to the thousands of pills myth Charlie Hodge during a fan show gave some amazing insights about this. Now I am not living in denial and realize Elvis had a problem with prescription meds and abused them. That being said Charlie explained that when touring Elvis took his personal physician with him as well as having doctors available in certain locations. If Elvis took sick or any of those n tour with him such as vocalists, musicians, crew and security the doctor would make the prescription out to his patient Elvis. Because of this it gives a very exaggerated amount of drugs prescribed. Charlie, a good snd loyal friend, also touched on Elvis’s family history of poor health and early passing. He definitely brought more insight about the meds.

J.D. Sumner also did some great interviews about the meds Elvis took.

He was given awards every time we see him arrive somewhere . It's no wonder he let lisa play with them which I heard during the tour of Graceland when they pointed out fingerprints of lisa on gold album awards ...

This is great! It's a pity Elvis at Madison Square Gardens wasn't filmed as per Elvis on Tour. One thing, what about the time Elton John met Elvis. It was when Elvis was in poor form, he wasn't interested in meeting Elton.

I’ve seen the MSG press conference blue suit at the Elvis on tour exhibition at 02 in London in 2018 it’s made out of a type of polyester material which I was surprised at ! I can never understand why they did not tape at least one of the MSG shows for the Elvis on tour documentary, the one thing I love about this documentary is the interview the film makers did with Elvis only a small snippet of it appears in the movie but a 45 min extended version is on RU-vid and we get to hear Elvis talk freely about many topics without Colonel Parker intervening , it’s very insightful and Elvis sounds clear of mind and really in good form ,it seems something seriously started to happen to Elvis state of mind at the later part of 1972 and he seemed to go into a down hill trajectory that lasted right up until he died , was it his divorce from Priscilla ? Was it boredom with his career that seemed to push him further down the road of self destruction!

DMC, I would like to see/hear the 45 min extended version of the MSG interview that you describe. I did a search but could only find a 26 min one. Can you remember the title or the channel name it was on? Thanks in advance for any help you are able to provide.

I think that Elvis was sort of shocked by the divorce. Even though I believe he wanted it and didn’t want to be married to her that long anyway, it was still a shock to him in a life change. She was the woman in his life since Gladys was gone. And also I wish they would’ve filled one of the MSG shows! Do you think they would’ve since they were around the film everything else?

Elvis and Priscilla were not together when this footage was filmed. She had told him early in 1972 she was leaving him. Linda came along in late July 1972. For all of us throwing stones at his relationships, just remember, we do not know what goes on behind closed doors. Reason I respect every lady he picked to fill the lonliness. To every female who had to endure the memphis mafia around day and night. No privacy. To live like a vampire and only go out at night is very extreme. I love the man since I was a little girl. There will never be another one like him. Thank you for the footage!

The Colonel and Elvis always disliked NY, being southern country types. They found them rude and aggressive and The Colonel especially so since the wheelers and dealers there wouldn't succumb to his demands unlike elsewhere in the states, especially the south and mid west. I think it's telling they never returned to MSG as Colonel knew the hard nosed media there would not be forgiving as Elvis declined. If you study his entire tour itinery it's clear Colonel kept him away from the big metropolitan west and east coasts as much as possible.
