Thank for the great video. Getting pwr129 in 2 weeks. Dealer will install Newport NK300 on stern. In NJ (90%)I often go in tidal rivers off of the ocean as well as Raritan Bay. (10%) I am in a group that goes in ocean which could be out of inlet or launch thru surf. Different opinions as to where to place battery. Some advise that place in front hatch (rivers & bay)to make a more even weight placement vs. rear of seat to launch thru surf so bow is raised a little to cut waves. Some say have both. Opinion? Appreciated.

We always put in it the front to distribute the weight but I can definitely see the back if you want to cut through waves.

Nice install. I like to idea of the Marinco plug. Does the weight of the battery in the front affect the balance of the boat? Is it too bow heavy? Thanks

No the balance is better when putting the battery up front. It distributes the weight more evenly. We have started using yak attack through hull kits on the accessory plate in the back since the new newports have the quick release plug already that way you don’t have to splice the wires at all.

How come you don’t use the motor mount eyelet and the provided pulley at the top ? It’s gives you way more leverage for raising the motor.

This motor package didn’t come with them for some reason. But we installed those on the last couple we did when they were in the package. Does make it a lot easier.

Can you put the lift line and the reverse lock in the hull and run them up to a thru hole connect so they aren’t on the outside? I am not sure if it would work or not but, while yours looks great, i wonder if those lines could be hidden?

I assume it is the XL yakattack thru hull kit as opposed to the standard?

Great Video! I just purchased a pwr129 and this same motor. Interesting way to run the wires with the Marino plug. Do you have a part # for that plug that I could check out? Thanks!

We’ve been using the yak attack through hull Kit instead of the extra Marinco plug the last couple installs we have done. Don’t have to splice the wires that way and you can still have a quick disconnect that comes on the Newport motor.

What size drill bit for the Marinco plug hole? Thank you

@@newmexicopigpatrol I believe it’s like 1 3/4” hole saw. It says on their package when you get the plug.

Do they make a mount so you can use your power pole and motor on the same spot ?

I don’t believe anyone is making one right now. But you don’t really need the power pole since you can use the motor and control with your feet to keep your spot.
