Fun fact (Historically) Pulitzer was blind when the strike went down. He'd gone blind a few years before, actually. Idk why but this makes me have some sYmPaThY. He was just a sad blind man with like...I think five daughters who needed more money and suddenly a bunch of newsboys are screaming at him sksksk
I want Pulitzer to be dancing ballet while he sings this. All the newsboys dance so why shouldn't Pulitzer? Of course it wouldn't be street dancing like the newsies but classical ballet would work very well for him. I WANT IT
Nah, this scene is Pulitzer trying to get everyone else to understand HIS plan. He is too proud to spell it out for them, he wants them to get it on their own. He’s not even thinking about the Newsies, he’s thinking about his paper.
Nunzio (aside): Now then my friend, now to your purpose. Slowly, enjoy it, revenge can't be taken in- Pulitzer: Make haste, and if we wed you'll be commended sir. Nunzio: My lord, and who may it be said is your intended, sir? Pulitzer: My ward. A pretty little rosebud. Nunzio: Pretty as her mother? Pulitzer: What's that? Nunzio: ...nothing.
I just got cast as Hannah in my school play! I'm really happy that as a freshman i got a role with lines and singing and a name especially considering the number of girls who were called back for Hannah. i'm a little nervous though because i am a female tenor...
@Alyssa Higgins how did it go? i really wish i could do it and my dream role like ever is davey but I'm a girl so unless I do it in my drama group I doubt ill ever play him

Nunzio: lemme cut yo hair Pulitzer: (gets up right when Nunzio is about to start) Nunzio: sit fam Pulitzer: oki (gets up again) Nunzio: oMAE WE MOU SHINDEIRU
It's kinda funny how he goes 'so grateful to me they'll be begging to pay even more' and then here go the Newsies, striking cause Pulitzer acted before thinking... so selfish... tsk tsk. Also, he goes 'So proud of themselves'... Oh they're proud all right, just not for what you were anticipating lol
Man I am pumped to be Pulitzer in my schools production, such a step up from Potiphar last year lol. (I tend to get the baritone villain often being one of the few baritone/low tenors in my school’s program which is mostly tenors

i need to comment about how absolutely amazing anthony zas does. ( elmer ) this man has the voice of an angel and i think he deserved sm more show time and he’s such an angel. his harmonies are amazing. he’s adorable and i feel like other than moving the props he should’ve been on the stage singing and dancing. he’s adorable and i just had to comment on his amazing talent.
my brother was cheering on the villain the whole musical it was so annoying he said stuff like “ well he singing better than all of them.” and “the movie was better.” which was also annoying
This bugs me beyond my wildest imagination. So if they charged the newsies 50 cents per 100 papers, and they raise the price to 60 cents per 100 papers they claim that newsies would have to sell 10 more papers just to earn the same amount as always. I assume that the newsies are selling papers at 1 cent a paper (as I don't see how it is possible to sell individual papers for less than that.). This means that originally the newsies buy 100 papers at 50 cents and make a 50 cent profit if they sell them all. Inorder to make a 50 cent profit after the price is raised to 60 cents per hundred, the newsies must sell 125 papers as each individual paper now costs the newsies 0.6 cents and they only make a 0.4 cent profit from selling them. The statement "they need to sell 10 more papers just to earn the same amount as always" is only true in one case, if the newsies were originally buying 40 papers for 20 cents and making 20 cents profit, they now buy 50 papers for 30 cents and make 20 cents profit. A more accurate statement is that the newsies need to sell 25% more papers than previously to make the same amount of profit.
Ah! I have good news for you! The script actually does say 25 more papers - both in the libretto and in the score. Why they change it to 10 here, I do not know. But you are absolutely correct as is the script. Go. Be happy! 🙂
