Hi, very nice flight. I'm just in the process of putting this together, could you tell me what your CG turned out to be. I have read a lot of conflicting opinions.
90-95 I was at 90mm on that flight. Watch scale me down's videos on the dc-3. Part 8 with his unsuccessful maiden really helped. Link is in the description.
Somewhat.. you can do some things like gain adjust (don't quote me on this... haven't liked at it in a while) but other things like throttle reverse programming and gyro assignments aren't available. I assume it hasn't been fully reverse engineered.
.....AS3X Heading hold works well if you want a scale takeoff without any tail wagging and the same for landing. You still have full control of the rudder but when you don't move it the heading will be maintained. You can reduce/adjust the gain so you only get enough input to smooth out tail-wag.
@@shelbyseelbach9568 I don't think there is anything wrong with using technology to help you fly. Pretty much all modern airliners and war planes use automated systems and many of those planes would be unflyable without them. We aren't in the plane... can't feel a yaw drift. We have to rely on vision... at a distance... so our corrections are always later than if we are in the plane. Tommy's point was a scale take off... and I agree with him. Using a heading hold gyro would certainly help if I wanted to use it. I personally don't use it but his point is still very valid and I might try it one day.
@@all_rc All of my planes fly really well without them. The problem with the modern technology is that it can stop you from becoming a better pilot as there is no need to learn what is done for you. This is true of any technology in any field. Skills are lost as they are no longer needed. It isn't even unique to rc planes, it's just a simple truth. Basic skills are lost when performing them is taken over by technology, in all human endeavor. This is why the airline pilots and military pilots, the ones that are literally flying through technology spend countless hours and hours and hours in the simulator practicing not dying during technology failures.
@@shelbyseelbach9568 I think you're being a bit "stick in the mud" as they say! There are lots ofcways to skin the rabbit and it doesn't necessarily make you a bad pilot. Keep practising and become better but a little assistance from modern technology can make a take-off or flyby look so much more pleasing to others watching. It's sad when people jump on eachother defending ability etc.... This hobby is for fun and that attitude puts off some from joining. Who wants to join a club of self opinionated old farts! Embrace modern technology and if you don't understand it, learn about it or refrain from commenting negatively. My comments are not particularly aimed at you - I have no idea of your experience. I'm pretty new to this hobby, after a lifetime as a professional fixed and rotary pilot. I enjoy the complexity of the modern technology since I made planes as a young teenager >50 yrs ago! If some of it hides my lack of ability, so what as long as I enjoy it and don't hurt anyone.
@@tabdycollins It's certainly not going to make you a better pilot, even though it will appear to. The fact that the truth of it doesn't bother you, does not make that truth false, my friend. Not at all. You literally just told me to keep my comments to myself if I don't agree with your opinion, can you even hear yourself? This is a public comment section and I have freedom of speech. I will comment my opinion at any time I feel. I understand modern technology just fine, and if my opinion on it differs from yours, I simply couldn't give a flying fuck less. You are also free to comment anything you would like at any time whether I agree or not. I'll never tell you not to as I am not the coward you have made yourself sound like with your last comment. PATHETIC SIMPLY PATHETIC!
The manual is available on the motion rc website. Book rates which seemed fine for me are elevator 12mm, aileron 15mm, rudder 20mm flap 20-25mm. Expo is almost always to taste. I start with 30٪ and adjust from there.
I don't understand your comments at the start regarding SAFE. Surely someone of your experience will have expanded SAFE 's settings from the basic settings so that it is useful.
Honestly not really. Both AF and myself used to fly rc years ago. We both got out of the hobby for several years and only recently got back in it (for me it was my covid hobby). Safe is relatively new to me and I am more used to flying without it than with it. Only this particular plane showed me the advantages to the stabilizer mode to help tame a plane. Majority of my planes (besides eflite) don't have any gyro.
