the first clip... why is that a penalty? why is he considered 'a passer' when he's that much outside of the pocket? hes a runner at that point. when you hold the ball trying to get an extra yard thats the risk you take. as annoying as these calls can be I still understand why they do it. football with bad QBs is not entertaining to watch at all. Its in everyones interest QBs stay healthy, maybe this is just an unavoidable side effect.
@@kinglegolas8987 true. I personally think it was just how hard Davis hit him. If it wasn’t that hard they wouldn’t have even thought to throw the flag, I think since he flew back and it looked like a hard hit kinda just forced them to throw it
It is a damning indictment of the referees that every week there are 10 or more minutes of them failing to do their job. I'm glad that commentators are finally beginning to call out how bad the refs are at their jobs.
It seems to me like the Monday night commentators are sycophants to the officials. There were plenty of bad calls during the Monday night game, but the sportscasters pretended like all calls were fine.
Same. When they 'protect the shield' even though the rest of the world can see what just happened, that's an insult to the viewers intelligence. Glad to see some announcers coming around a bit and keeping it real over business.
Since we have an abundance of experts here, feel free to contact your states high school association to start your careers. Also the announcers are not officials. Put them on the field. They wouldn’t make a 2nd game.
@Robert Reital I think a big part of the problem is that so many of the new rules being instituted are in direct opposition to the very nature of the game. Football is a violent sport. Everyone understands this from the players to the coaches to the fans. To have so many rules that try to specify what is too violent and what is not by judgement call is just begging for problems. All that said, most of the conditions for violating these rules are spelled out pretty clearly in the rule book, and it's plain to see that many of the officials don't understand and/or apply them to the letter. They need to be better.
The Replacements, maybe. But at least they had an excuse. This year multiple games have been decided by officiating. It's a tainted season that the fan base really needs to mass mark as illegitimate.
@@kaidonmattison3250 as they always say don't let the refs decide your game as a cowboys fan this is the type of shit people always say to us so here ya go just play better and it won't be an issue next time
Why is no one talking about how that could have killed him? A little more twist and he's dead on the field. Imagine the backlash when a player literally gets his head twisted off and dies.
Absolutely. I walked away from watching the NFL a few years ago because of those types of calls (as well as Pass Interference, Defenseless Receivers, etc.) because you couldn't touch the QBs without risking a penalty. Then I'll watch one of these videos and realize that it's so much worse today. I frankly don't know how anyone thinks this is a decent entertainment product anymore.
Agreed. As a Chiefs fan I was PISSED when I saw that. I don't want to win on a shit play like that and I would have been livid if I were a Bills fan. Second week in three that Jones has done some really dumb shit. He's talented but not too bright it would seem.
First i thought Allen was just trying to get anything to save the sack but after seeing the replay, Jones clearly knew what he was doing. I love the blossoming Chiefs/Bills rivalry but I these games to be a battle of skill, not horrible officiating.
@@nathanpapp432 yep. Refs always get blamed because they’re who fans see. The amount of training and verification these people go through… I don’t doubt they blow some calls, but blaming them fully is ridiculous
They call so many touching the passer, but let go all these face masks, slamming the head to the ground in a body slam and such. Yah, they are concerned for concussion/head safety
My thing has always been, they’re looking at slo mo replays. When you slow it down, it’s obvious. But the reality is, humans don’t react in slo mo. It all happens within probably a seconds worth of time but the replays are 5-7 seconds. No one’s gonna react to anything as quickly as it seems is becoming an obligation
Coaches and players need to start roasting officials for obvious bad calls more in interviews. They got the money to burn when they get fined and it's the only way things might change.
NFL: Won't do a damn thing about concussions unless it's someone touching the team princess. It's like everyone else plays football, while the QB plays "man i just throw the ball oh god oh god oh god don't touch me" its like the only time a man wants to have no sack.
I swear, the shear amount of horrible RtP calls is gonna end up costing a team a playoff game or worse the Super Bowl. Defenses are rightfully overly cautious about even touching the QB
the roughing calls I've seen so far have been terrible. But as someone who played lineman, if a ref sees someone trying to run away from you and your gripping their shouldpads/jersey to keep them there you're gonna get called pretty much every time.
So these roughing the passer calls I believe is what is a result of the bangles game v.s Miami to their QB, it was a clean hit however the injury looked pretty brutal. So I feel they are starting to call roughing the passer calls alot more loosely to maybe make the hits lighter on the QB?
I've watched each of these every week this season and last season and what I've noticed is that there's about 20% off calls which are understandable because of where the refs are positioned who make the call as compared to us watching it from different angles. The rest are just refs being stupid
There was a holding call on Neal (Bills) in the Bills-Chiefs game that when they showed the replay, the Chiefs receiver was holding him. The announcers didn't say a word on the replay.
Every one of these videos is another piece of evidence for why I refuse to bet on sports. Lol and with HD replays all the mistakes are obvious. No one likes to feel cheated and this may be the worst of 2022 so far. (Why is no one getting called for tripping?! Sooo many this year already) but whatever, I don't own any stock in the team. Lol
Maybe we should put flags on the QB to bring them down or we go to 5 alligator like we're in middle school again LOL 🙄 WHAT IS THE DEFENSE SUPPOSED TO DO!?
This is getting sad. Just give the QBs red jerseys and make them touch tackle them. It's less embarrassing. Especially when you're not calling blatant facemask tackles.
They need to change the rules so that a team is allowed to challenge EVERY PLAY. Replay shows that too often a ref got a roughing call, a holding call, and an interference call wrong.......give each team 1 or 2 challenges per half.
Honestly, I can’t wait for the first player to question how they didn’t get called for something and either ask an official or outright not realize the call doesn’t happen
7 Refs and they can't even get some of these clear-as-day calls correct. Refs and umps are ruining games, baseball football and basketball, across the USA. What a tragedy.
While I agree that the roughing the passer penalty against Carolina was a bad penalty, the refs just HATE calling face masks that happen to the Rams the last several years now. The most blatant was in the controversial NFC Championship game against the Saints a few years ago. There was a CLEAR facemask to Goff by the Saints the drive IMMEDIATELY preceding the infamous "non call" drive that should have made it First and Goal from the one instead of Third and Goal from the two. If that facemask had been PROPERLY called, it could have changed how the Saints ran the following drive and that non-call play might never even have had a chance to happen.
At this point a WR is going to get his neck broken because a defender pulled his facemask and not get a foul, but a pass rusher is pushed into the QB by a blocker and get ejected for it. This is ridiculous.
With the way the refs have been officiating games this year i propose that tackles be completely removed from the game and replaced with flags around players waists
They’re sick of seeing the wrestle mania shit that knocked the hell out of Tua. Watch, spin moves will draw the foul every time this season, just wait!
I was watching the Cowboys game and saw the lady ref signal first down and then they cut to the guy who’s saying 4th down. As a sexist myself, that looked like a ref who really hates women refs and was disagreeing with her call just because she’s a woman. If she had said 4th down he would have said 1st down.
This is why NFL needs to allow for challenge flags to be used against ref calls, and for missed calls. Give teams 3 challenges and then have the same review team go over the calls. Some of these calls change the outcome of games, and so missed calls as well.
